Worst service in Earth

Worst & pathetic service i have ever witnessed. Ruined out my Valentine :( . Staffs are so irresponsible & lacking a descent sense of discipline. They hardly listen to your orders. And if you are a bit lucky your every single order will be placed after 40-45 mins. Never seen such a disgusting service from this luxury Italian cuisine. Save your bucks people. Tuscana Pizzeria Nungambakkam is the worst Italian restaurant in the earth. Beware & watch your steps before stepping into it & ruining your day..Even if you went looking down my genuine review dont and never go for table buffet..All i can say there are hell lot of place in earth but dont let your footprints onto such place & get spoiled out your day & mood of your friends & families..

Italian Delight!!!

The first thing that really caught my attention when I entered Tuscana Pizzeria was the ambience - colourful, young and energetic! Quite different from the usual restaurants In the city. What was impressive about the menu was the choice and variety it offered. There’s something to please everyone’s taste buds.
I relished the Americana thin crust pizza, and highly recommend it. The grilled fish was brilliant as well ! Seasoned to perfection. Great options for those who like to eat healthy too ! Although there wasn’t much space left post that, the Tiramisu was a perfect way to end the meal. A sure gastronomical treat for food lovers ! A must try.

My Italian Birthday !

My last visit to Tuscana was with my family on my birthday – I decided to avail a birthday discount offered by Vipin Sachdev. Though I've met him only once – the gesture had a personal touch and since I love Italian food, it wasn't a tough choice. The food has always been excellent before, and this time was no different. I have to add, service was great too! The waiters were polite, patient and helpful. It was a late dinner, so we decided to skip the starters and go for the main course directly. We decided on the Chicken Pesto Pasta with mushrooms and the Chicken Ravioli in a Red sauce from the pasta selection. Both of which were really good, flavourful and filling! From the Pizzas we tried the Diavola. It was perfect – thin crust not too crisp/soggy, the marinara sauce had the right amount of tang and of course pepperoni!
We were quite full and contemplating dessert at this point when I was happily surprised with a serving of Tiramisu with a candle in it! I’m a huge fan of Tiramisu and loved it! It was the perfect end to a very special dinner and will definitely keep me coming back for more!

AWESOME RESTAURANT!

Tuscana is by far my most favourite Italian restaurant in India. I love the fact that they offer authentic Italian food. What I love about Tuscana is that they offer healthy options too. I love the grilled chicken and whole wheat pasta at Tuscana. The wood fire pizzas are amazing too, the Americana pizza is a must have. They even offer gluten free pastas and pizzas, which is unheard of in India. Please try out the new Chicken classics menu too. The "Pollo A LaFergjay" is my favourite dish. I have celebrated my birthday here once, they had offered me a fantastic deal for 20 people. Two thumbs up to the Tuscana staff and management.

Good Place to Hangout

Located at the most food-filled place in Chennai, this place lives up to the competition it faces from its neighbours. I was craving for pizzas on a lazy Sunday afternoon and all of a sudden I remembered someone had told me about Tuscana. Without even thinking twice, me and my friend reached the place.

|| Interiors and Ambience ||
The place is located at Nungambakkam - a place known for good restaurants/pubs/cafes etc etc. Beautifully decorated, the interiors are nicely done with walls covered with food paintings/designs (makes you hungry :P). The tables are properly set and cutlery neat and clean. It is always a nice sight to have a clean environment while eating :)

|| Quality and Quantity ||

The menu had variety. We ordered a Pollo e funghi Focaccio con and americana pizza. I must say I became a fan of the Pollo e funghi. It was just amazing. The cheese and chicken went well with the mushrooms inside a bread and overall it was a nice concoction. The pizza was okay. A little pricey but totally worth it. It was just the right combination. The thin crust is actually what a pizza should be like. hats off :)

A Nice Stop for Italian Food !!

I've dined here a couple of times and its one of my favorite places when it comes to Italian food! First of all the ambience does make me feel I'm Italy Especially their outdoor sit out! The variety on the menu is quite impressive ...Being a vegan I love the fact there are many options and definitely not the usual ones! It's a feast! I love the garlic bread, their thin crust pizzas and pastas are full of flavours and scrumptious!! Oh yes the salads are a must have !! Feels like they just plucked their vegetables from a backyard garden!! The only complain I have is that the place is sometimes under cleaned !! But when one is too full on food .. one chooses to ignore such petty things !!

Authentic Italian Food Indeed!

Visited Tuscana for my wedding anniversary, a few days ago. And needless to say, the experience was great as usual. We jumped straight to main course. Being pesto sauce lovers, we had the pesto pasta which is easily the best pesto sauce we'd had. Unfortunately they didn't have sundries tomatoes, but still a well made pasta. We also had the Sicilia pizza, which turned out to be excellent. The sauce was great and the base was also the perfect bake.

All in all, a great experience with great food and charming decor. The serves too are friendly. Hopefully next time we'll have space in our tummies to try their desserts!

Delicious , Rich and Wholesome

Italian food is probably the most loved food by all. For those looking for traditional wood oven thin crust pizzas and authentic Italian pastas, this is the perfect place.

Service is commendable, Ambiance is homely and comforting.

The food is well priced and the restaurant is a good place to go for a casual dinner with family or friends.

Centralized location in the heart of Chennai adds to the advantages !

Loved It :)

I am not a regular foodie , and hence not a frequent reviewer of it as well , but this time i go out of my way to write up a review only to showcase my new found patronage to TUSCANA , right from the pseudo - retro ambience , to the exhaustive menu , it deserves a recommendation to all foodies out there , truth be said , the courteousness of the staff has a special mention , as they go about helping you choose , by trying to understand your preference of taste , and the preparation of food was spot on. Telepathically perfect . The VFM concept stands true to its cause in this case , as you indulge in the gastronomic delight , it only accentuates the feeling of money well spent , to sum it up, the concept of the stereotypical Pizzeria in Chennai has now been revolutionized by Tuscana , Kudos to Willi and Mr Vipin Sachdev . Keep delighting us :)

The Best Pizza's I ever had (Made by me)

Tuscana is definitely the undeniable champ when it comes to authentic Italian food. Not to forget their thin crust pizza's.

To me Tuscana is a very special experience because they let me make my own pizza (Not 1 but 10 of those). They took me through the entire process of pizza making...Right from chopping of vegetables, Grating of cheese to decorating and baking them. Hell ya!! Now I'm a pizza expert. Baking the pizza's in the wood-fire was a lifetime experience.

The staff is so friendly and energetic. I would like to thank them for this wonderful memory. Checkout the pictures that I have posted.

TUSCANA REVIEW

Tuscana needs no introduction. I've been away from Chennai for some time, and wasn't really in on things. One look, and I was sold. The only grouse I had was to wait for a table, but I guess that pointed out to its popularity.

The place was well lit, with several vibrant paintings of fruit and scenery. There was ample space and the environment was extremely family friendly. Of course, there were couples in every corner, taking advantage of the dimly lit tables.

There was many a contest in terms of what to order.

STARTERS

Caesar salad was well made. The bacon was crisp. The focaccia is really good. It’s called Pollo e Funghi- chicken breast, cheese and button mushrooms.

MAIN COURSE

Two really good pizzas:

Porifiro- Ricotta cheese, marinara sauce, pork back bacon, artichokes and olives with oregano

Roma- Fresh mozzarella, marinara sauce, oven dried tomato, prosciutto ham and kalamata olives

Their pesto is to die for. It’s called Pesto Genovese. It’s made with pistachio pesto sauce with French green beans, baby potatoes, crushed garlic and pecorino.

DESSERT

Their tiramisu is one of the best I've ever eaten.
The vanilla panna cotta with berry compote is great too.

It’s pricing is slightly on the higher side, but that’s because most of their ingredients are imported.

Their service is excellent and their food is just out of the world. For those who haven't gone before, it's a must go!
They have thin crust pizzas which are extremely tasty!
The soups are delicious, Minestrone being my favorite.
The deserts are simply amazing! The Tiramisu and Panacotta is a must try! Salivating, indeed.

"Amazing Experience"

I visited Tuscana Pizzeria in August when I visited India for the first time, with my sister (we are both from Thessaloniki, Greece) and my friend (from Milan). We heard about it from our friend who we were visiting in Chennai, who took us here after feeding us spicy Indian food for the first day. I ordered Bruschetta and Carpaccio di Manzo for my first course, the gluten free Porfirio pizza for my second course and ended with Tiramisu that the waiter was keen on us trying. The entire meal left us all very satisfied.

Craving For More!!

Set around the corner of Wallace garden –Tuscana Pizzeria Italian Restaurant is almost hard to miss. Walking inside you find a place that offers an elegant ambience - But the food should be the star, right? ?Tuscana Pizzeria Restaurant is the place worthy of worship for its wholesome and satisfying pastas and pizza. Tuscana is synonymous with simple and yet extremely well executed food ??based on my supremely yummy dinner (especially the wood fired pizza) last time. I would dare say that this Italian Restaurant is serving some of the most satisfying Italian food in Chennai. I would strongly suggest you give this wonderful little Chennai gem a well-deserved chance at delighting your senses. The chef Willi is in sync with Vipin’s vision - creating hearty meals. Vipin along with his chef take pride in baking their own breads.
Tuscana”s forte is in creating traditional and tasty food staples and perfecting them to the highest possible level- with the freshest and tastiest local ingredients. ??Enough background - lets talk about the yummy meal. My wife and I joined another couple here and we ordered a variety of Antipasti, pizza and pasta-??I think the pasta dishes are one of the strengths here - easily some of the tastiest and best pastas in this town! Some people may not understand that the texture of fresh pasta is vastly different than the dried type that is most common. The wheat for these pastas is also fresh,?.The "Ravioli" is a big "O" in terms of flavor - wow. Fantastic! The potato Gnocchi was pillowy and perfect. ??The desserts we tried were all superb especially the Vanilla Pana cotta with berry compote.
This place will leave you craving for more !!

Good Food

Craving for Italian food, don’t think twice before hitting Tuscana. It has a well done decor and warm ambience. The menu is highly appetizing and has a wide variety of pastas and pizzas. Their wood fried pizzas are very authentic and definitely do a good job at stealing the show. Their garlic bread with a generous amount of cheese is a must try. All their pastas and pizzas are absolutely fresh with the right tinge of flavour making them highly appealing and scrumptious. After the tantalizing meal, they also accommodate exotic deserts of which the tiramisu is a must have.
On the whole Tuscana provides you with a very comfortable and satisfying experience with lovely food. its definitely a place that will make you want to come back.

Best of Italy - In Nungambakkam

I went to Tuscana this weekend – the one in Wallace garden. This was my third visit and it’s still very much like the quaint pizzerias you hear about in Italy. We were a group of 4 and we had to wait for a bit for a table as the weekends are a little busy. After a short wait we were shown to our table in the courtyard. It was good to see that that the service had remained as good as it was the first time I visited! As always I ordered my favorite Garlic bread with mozzarella cheese .It’s to die for! We went on to devour the diavola pizza which was light, the right amount of spice and who can resist pepperoni- over all yum! Next was one of the signature pastas – another favorite of mine – the names are a little hard to remember – I had this pasta with chicken and mushroom – cream based! A friend of mine ordered the traditional Bolognese. Halfway through our meal we were pleasantly greeted by the chef who inquired about our meal and as usual I gave him a thumbs up! I saved the best for last and ordered my Tiramisu which tastes better ever y time! The Tuscana on chamiers is great too, but I prefer Wallace Garden!

Good job Tuscana team! Hope the food and service remains this way! We were left more than content and the damage to our wallets wasn't much either ?.Looking forward to my next visit!

THE Restaurant For Italian in Chennai

Tuscana has been my go to place for Italian in Chennai. With the combination of perfect ambiance and tasty food it always satisfies my Italian hunger. As far as my experiences with italian restaurants concern, the Lasagna here is one of the best I have eaten. They have an excellent dessert menu and I highly recommend both their Tiramisu and Pannacotta. Unfortunately, I wasn't able help myself a serving of their much talked Cannelloni. But I'll make sure I order one the next time I visit.

Been there a couple of times for their thin crust pizza. I specifically like the broccoli that tops in most of their pizzas. Their specialty is the gluten free pizzas and pastas which was launched sometime back. Pannacotta is another speciality of this place. The only reason I walked into Tuscana with my family was so that my 3.5 year old son could see baking first hand. I was surprised and he was excited when they allowed him to bake his own pizza! It Was Just Okay

Was really excited initially reading all the reviews and the hype. Nice place. Guess pizzas are really good here. I had pasta. Don't remember the name. Last one on the left side of the vegetarian pasta menu. Dissatisfied :( Pasta at domino's, pasta bar and many other places had satisfied me.
Wanted a dessert. Warm chocolate cake with molten chocolate and vanilla gelato. They said it's available without the gelato, so I ordered chocolate milk shake. Later they said even that is not available. Not worth the price Tuscana :(

LA FOCACCIA

Focaccia is one of the most popular and most ancient breads of Italy, very easy yet most difficult to get right. Focaccia is fantastic with a drizzle of olive oil and balsamic vinegar and it’s always garnished with herbs. At Tuscana Pizzeria it’s filled with delicious pesto, sun-dried tomatoes and cheese. Round bread cut into equal four peices, this bread is indeed heavenly. It’s my favourite starter at Tuscana and goes very well with minestrone soup.
Last Sunday, I was sitting by the window pane of theTuscana Pizzeria overlooking the high street of Chennai, walls adorned with beautiful floral paintings and outside was a sudden outburst of God sent drizzle this was already magical and when my order (Focaccia bread and minestrone soup) arrived it was delicious satisfaction which cannot be comprehended but only experienced.

In with the new, out with the old at Tuscana

"hum chup nahin bait sakthe [we cant sit quiet]" is what Vipin says leads to such new concepts...The reason why they keep innovating, rolling out new dishes and coming up with interesting dishes. This time around, they have literally revamped their entire menu- adding a few new dishes, removing some and making sure customers are spoilt for choice.

The table was set with a few bowls of different kinds of Olives, some were stuffed while others were plain, few bread sticks and two martini glasses- Hummus and Salsa. The Hummus was divine, and i loved it with the bread stick.

The food began to arrive within minutes and the 1st plate to land on the table was Bruschetta- Crisp slices of bread with mushroom and assorted pepper topping, fresh and full of flavours. The next in line were the sinful Cheese veg tarts- with cauliflowers, leeks and bell peppers, it was just amazing.

And then came the much awaited, spoken about dish that Tuscana is famous for- their Pizzas. Apart from the plain white flour pizza, there were also a few Gluten free pizzas that came out of the kitchen. What else is new? Well, they are launching a range of Multi grain pizzas- quite good i must say. Was a bit skeptical, but i quite liked it- the texture, the flavours and the light base. I tried a slice from each of the pizza, and loved the one with the Broccoli on it.

Just as the conversation flowed without a pause, so did the trays of food. The last to arrive were the dessert- coffee panna cotta [tasted a bit like instant coffee & was a tad strong] and vanilla panna cotta with blueberry compote[was yumm, but different from their usual panna cotta].

We left the place wondering about the dishes that were going to disappear from the menu and of those that were making an entry. As i walked down the spiral staircase, conversations flowed and so did the food from the kitchen....

Authentic, Awesome 100% Wood Fired Oven Pizzas

Well, I was introduced to this excellent find by Burrp Chennai & am oh so thankful for that :)

I always thought my most favourite thinnest crust pizzas are available only at Match Point, Taj Coromandel in Nungambakkam. Until I got here ;)

They have two authentic, 100% wood fired ovens :) patrons & customers can actually request they be allowed to visit the ovens AND make their own pizzas, they also get certificates for the same :)

Awesome thin crust, delicious pizzas with a range of toppings.

Haven't tried anything beyond pizzas yet - but a definite go to place from now on.

The Ambience is very quaint & warm - to match the cafes I love in Adelaide or Melbourne. Very classic, quiet, quaint, warm. Tucked in near Khader Nawaz Khan Road and yet with this ambience in itself, is an achievement ;)

Tuscana Pizzeria

Been to Tuscana Pizzeria so many times, have lost count. It is our family's favorite place to bring guests at least once to have Italian food and pizzas and they always want to go back. Really enjoy the starters like the foccacia bread and the arancini, and regular. In main course my personal favorite is the broccoli pizza with potato and caramalized onions. Will keep going back there again. When they started some years ago, there used to be a pizza with baked baby potatoes and small round balls of cheese. We miss that in the new menu. Anyway, my family loves TP!

Slow service!

Ate at Tuscana for dinner a week ago with a couple of colleagues. While the food was excellent as always, we had to wait 20 minutes before anyone offered us water or a menu. It took another 20 minutes for someone to come and take our order. The food arrived quite soon after we ordered, so that's not the hold up. Great food is no excuse for sloppy and slow service!

Very Poor Service

I had loved Tuscana, the previous few times I had been there, I quite enjoyed the food, and the service was good as well. But I don't know whether the poor service I experienced the last time was just a one-off or has become the norm now.

I have been too finicky about good service, but I definitely notice when the service is quite bad. I have never seen an upscale restaurant, one that charges quite an exorbitant amount, demonstrate the kind of indifference and bad service it did that evening.

First of all, we were seated in the room with the TV, where the ambience was quite poor compared to the other rooms, and there were a lot of mosquitoes. My 2 cousins and I waited for close to 15 minutes before we lost patience and we had to call out a waiter to bring us water. The waiters kept looking at the IPL match on TV as they passed, but never bothered to serve the customers with the enthusiasm with which they watched every time they passed the TV. As we were the only ones in the room with the TV, I requested one waiter to change the channel to a football match on ESPN so that I could check the scores, but he refused. Maybe, customers come only second to the staff? Priorities, anyone?

Usually, Tuscana provides complimentary bread pieces before the orders were brought in. Guess, they don't do that unless we remind them these days? I had to wait for a while before asking for it. Coming to the food now, we ordered 2 soups, an appetizer (bruschetta) and main course (1 pizza). The food was good and tasty as usual, but by the time they brought us the salt/pepper we had requested twice, I had already finished my soup.

The main course was good. But we were quite fed up with the attitude of the waiters that we decided to skip dessert and instead have it at a different place.

Cost = Around 1300 (2 Soups, 1 appetizer, 1 Pizza, No dessert)
Food = 4/5
Ambience = 1.5/5
Service = 1/5

Good pizzas.

The first time I came here, I was a little ticked off by the attitude of the person at the reception. We'd made a reservation for 8:00PM and we arrived at 8:15PM. Fifteen minutes "late"?! He made us feel very unwelcome and said that we if we make a reservation we should be on time. What is this - college? The food however was delicious and the rest of the staff made us feel comfortable. The pizzas are authentic and the desserts and drinks are delicious!

No Better place for Pizza

Pizza Heaven. This is the only place I think of, whenever I think of Pizza. Being a meat lover, I love the different ingredients used in the Pizzas. However since many of my friends prefer chicken, and there are only two pizzas on the menu with Chicken ( Ruspante and Americana) I sometimes have to go along. Not that I am complaining but it would be nice to see more chicken introduced.

Special Mention to their Tiramisu. Its one of the best desserts in the city at present. Great job Vipin and Co.

Pizza love

Tuscana has a special place in my heart and tummy owing to the Romano pizza and the lovely tomato basil sauce they use in their pastas. I've been here often with my friends, office colleagues & family, and rue the high price which prevents me from going as often as I'd like. Their home delivery is also very reliable, albeit a bit slow, and my pizza always arrives hot and delicious. The Pannacotta is the one dessert I would recommend here.

Worst Service Ever

The delivery service is simply atrocious at this place. I mean, if they can't deliver, then don't. As simple as that. It took the guy more than two hours to get to my place. And this after I complain to their manager. The food is barely edible as well. I think I've learned my lesson, and will never order from here ever again. And I will encourage my friends to head to other restaurants in Chennai, and not to think about ordering or even heading to this place to eat. Ridiculous.

Pizza making activity

I have eaten at Tuscana often and always loved their food. Their thin crust Italian Pizza is delicious and their service is perfect. I also enjoy their Tiramasu. However the last time we went in a group of about twenty to participate in a Pizza making activity their marketing team put together for kids between 5 -14. And this was an incredible experience for the kids, they loved it making their Pizzas rolling the dough adding their topping putting it into the oven the oven and out. They actually got to do all of it! Their staff were very friendly and you could see that they enjoyed having the kids in their kitchen, no easy feat when you consider the fact that they were dealing with nearly twenty kids and hot ovens

And 6 months later...

About till 6 months back, for a year or so, this was one of my fav. pizzerias in the city- so much so that I would eat there about once in 3-4 weeks...Visited the place today after 6 months and was utterly disappointed. The Risotto costs about 700 Rs and it was bleh...like meh and bleh...the rice was cooked well but the rest of the dish wasn't up to the mark(tasted a bit like tomato rice without the spices). The pizza was okay, but the sun-dried tomatoes didn't taste like sun-dried tomatoes...The lasagna was a huge let down...They seem to have reduced the quantity of soup as well...The panna cotta is still good, but the chocolate cake wasn't well...special.

Overall, the food is avg. Considering that there are quite a lot of restaurants in this price range, the food quality needs to go up again. Risotto is a tough dish, but then when one pays 700 Rs, guess it is okay to expect something mind blowing.

Pizza to die for

A friend and I went a couple of days back. She had a veg pizza while I went with Carbonara. The carbo was a little too dry and the penne a tad undercooked, though I get the feeling that if I'd asked the management, they would have only been glad to slather it with sauce the way I like it. I don't remember what pizza it was, but I had a slice of hers and it was brilliant. The mushroom soup we had was also very tasty and rich. We rounded it off with some pana cotta, which true to what we'd expected from reviews on this site, turned out to be great. Spent 1300 overall. Not a place you can afford every weekend, but good to visit once in a while

Overpriced, burnt pizza

Only 3 things come to my mind when i think about Tuscana:

1) The pizza I had here was pretty burnt.
2) Service was pretty good.
3) Tad overpriced.

I would give this restaurant an average rating as its not worth it.

Tuscan style

This place undoubtedly serves the best pizzas in town! The wood fired pizzas here are to die for..and it's pretty authentic with some very delightful toppings. The pastas - ravioli, risotto, etc, are simply fabulous. The place is always crowded but the service is good. The waiters here know their stuff too. The ambience of the place is cool too..simple functional design. Nothing too fancy. Besides, the desserts here are absolutely droolworthy. The tiramisu is the best in Chennai!

It was chewable unlike the pizzas you get in other joints. I loved the garlic bread too.. It was not too crispy and not too soggy.. it was just right and i loved it!
Sad part is the price- It is expensive. :(

the restaurant is a little hard to find but once you experience it, you would never forget!
Classy ambience with splashes of italy all around..
I have been there at least 4-5 times and I just love the pizzas.
The pizzas are so thin that I could easily gobble up two of them without much of a tussle! The best is in the end - Tiramisu.. simply yummy! Dont mind the calories when you get in there.. after all we live once! Tuscana is a very versatile place which can match any occasion from business dinners to casual hangouts to a date! Thumbs up to the chef and the brilliant staff!

Italy on a plate

This is another one of those 'go to' places that are on my list. Tuscana Pizzeria is one hell of an experience. The pizzas and the tiramisu. My, oh my. They are made with a great amount of diligence and attention to detail. And it is very visible through the end product. This is one of the places I recommend to anyone who complains of not being able to find authentic Italian food in Chennai. I've mainly been here for the pizzas, so I'm yet to try out the range of pastas they have. But the desserts at Tuscana? That is something you wouldn't want to miss either! Happy eating!

Tuscana in Nungambakkam serves authentic and amazing Italian cuisine They specialize in pizzas and pastas. I've had the Bolognese classic pizza, the Pollo pesto and tiramisu desert here. I especially love the Tiramisu.. it's heavenly. They also serve good beverage options. The staff are friendly and are quick and efficient. The ambiance is great but the pricing is on the higher side. But I feel one's gotta pay for the quality. Great food, I recommend it.

Comfort!

Interesting how Italian is becoming comfort food for me. The Ai funghi soup (ordered again) rich and wholesome, Pizza with rocket leaves and I went there for Pasta - simple spaghetti. Lip smacking delicious! Lovely way to end the weekend. Everything about last evening was picture perfect.
We reached there at 630pm for an early dinner - service was a little scattered (late bread + delayed pasta), the food more than made up for it.
Some noisy patrons seated close by aaargh!

Excellent Italian Food

All the Italian I knew before my visit to Tuscana Pizzeria were my occasional pastas at multi-cuisine restaurants and my visits to Pizza Huts. I went to Tuscana Pizzeria with 5 other members. A first look at the menu and I knew wherever I had been before was not italian at all. So many ingredients here were new and foreign (Literally!).

We ordered 3 different pizzas and I have to say I was amazed at the quality and flavor. Every Pizza was distinct in its flavor. I have been to Little Italy once before and have had a pizza, but it was nowhere close to what I had at Tuscana.

Absolutely loved the pizzas. Wish I could suggest you the names, but I am yet to learn Italian. But I will tell you this, give it a try for the sake of your pleading tastebuds!

Embarrassingly BAD Italian!

This was my third visit to Tuscana - Earlier visits were great but this time around it was an entirely different story. The pasta sauce was watery and had absolutely no flavour. The pasta was undercooked and extremely disappointing - which self-respecting italian restaurant doesn't get the cooking of the pasta right ? The pizza was also mediocre - no flavour and fast-food chains have doled out better pizzas - the only saving grace was the crust. I wonder if it's complacency that has set in or just complete disregard for customer experience but either way it's a huge thumbs down !

Beyond disappointing.

A bunch of friends and I were at Tuscana last night for dinner. It was my second time there and although I had a satisfactory (not good) experience the first time around, yesterday was just plain disappointing. We had Gnocchi, Ravioli, Pizzas and a marinara pasta. None of these were enjoyable, the gnocchi was undercooked. So was the penne. In addition, I have has better penne, from a packet! The service etc was good though.

Excellent First Experience

I am writing this review a little late, as I tried out Kryptos today and Tuscana last weekend, both being my first experiences.
I should say, me and my partner both of us loved the first experience at Tuscana Pizzeria, lovely, lovely, lovely :)

Everything from ambience to food and really impressive service. The waiter was well aware of what we were expecting and gave us suitable suggestions.

Particularly mindblowing was the dessert, Cannoli......slurrrrpppppp............I being a fan of desserts loved it......

Also in my opinion, it is more competitively priced in comparison with Kryptos, which I find to be good.

We will DEFINETLY visit again and we are keen on trying out everything on the menu at Tuscana Pizzeria. Hats off to you!! Keep up the good work!! :) :)

Italian Food to an Indian

Enough was said about the place & food in burrp, so do not want to repeat them :). But yes, this was on my 'want to try' list for quite sometime & done successfully yesterday !. [Why in the list for sometime - simple, i am not a fan of pizza !!!! & why yesterday - a cousin loves pizz/pasta invited us for dinner here).

Indeed a nice place to be, service, food, ambience - very very nice. [Am I comparing with Burgundy - better i should not !. It is two different setup].

The Al Pesto, Spaghetti and Panna Cotta/Tiramisu all lived-upto-standards. Simple toppings and thin/crisp base - did remind me - of those countless weekends - we had pizza's for living in London/Geneva [Now you know - why i said - am not a fan of pizza !]

Overall a brilliant evening. If we happen to think of Italian food again - we know where we land-up !. [Yet to try the icecreams - a good reason in'it !]

The Panna Cotta is really to die for & I agree with you. To me Panna Cotta is a acquired taste & during 2009, 2010 the Tiramisu at our restaurant used to be ordered a lot with Panna Cotta being sought as a poor cousin. About 75:25. Now since 2011 Panna Cotta is loved with more guests asking for Panna Cotta than Tiramisu. Recently in a wedding inside a 5*hotel in Chennai we served over 300 Panna Cotta's as the bride loved our Panna Cotta as much as she loved her fiance. The groom accepted the brides choice as he loved her too. I wish the newly weds the best & trust most of their meals will be at Tuscana Pizzeria.

Our Tiramisu is loved by most since the time we opened our restaurant in 2009 & Chef Willi personally spends a lot of his time to supervise the creation of Tiramisu in our central kitchen on a daily basis. Chef Willi says Tiramisu is exactly as a human being & during the creation process, handling & serving we need to treat all the aspects of its body & soul with the gentle care for it to be the Perfecto Tiramisu.

A Trip of Sorts!

I think Tuscana, both in Nungambakkam and Chamiers, is really a trip of sorts. The atmosphere and the food very easily transport you to the land that it owes its food from – Italy. There’s a very warm buzz and chatter about the space, almost like the warm, olive oil inspired cuisine that it serves. The wood-fired oven pizzas are to die for; I particularly like the pesto version whose colour and character – a light green - somehow invoke style and grace. I’ve also always enjoyed wading my way through the long, mind-boggling selection of pastas and risottos. The desserts are in another league, altogether, as is the coffee. The staff is particularly sweet and friendly and somehow echo the gregariousness of this little town in Italy. Try it.

Excellent Food and Impressive Ambience

It was my first visit to Tuscana a few months back and I should say that the visit was worth every penny I spent. I like to try different food and good food and am very choosy when it comes to Restaurants. The decor was excellent and well complemented by the crockery, music, service and most importantly good food. I canot forget the dip that I was served in the beginning as a complimentary dish before the ordered food was served. It was just too yummy and I reordered the dip so that it could compliment me in the main course too. Although a pizzeria, my wife and me had a Pasta each and had a great experience. Looking forward to visiting Tuscana again at the earliest.

Finger licking food

Went to lunch at Tuscana Pizzeria On saturday with a friend who was visiting the place for the 1st time! And food was amazing, yummy and delicious.. From the Strawberry mint fizz down to the last spoonful of pana cotta it was good... We ordered the minstrone soup that was piping hot and filled with simple flavours matched with Garlic bread with cheese. For the main course, we ordered a Salad of grilled veggies with a side of Lettuce & a Siciliana pizza. Each slice had the same amount of veggies and cheese, that melted in our mouths. It was a lovely experience and my friend enjoyed the food immensely... Keep it up guys!

I would definitely recco this place for those seeking good Italian food...

Superb food consistently

The popularity of this place is multiplying, the reason is simple. The food here is consistently good. From their salads to their thin crust pizzas to their pasta and the grand finale desserts all are delicious...Besides perfect classic pizza they have a very innovative menu in an extremely friendly environment. My favourites are Minestrone soup, Pesto spaghetti and panacotta for desserts, but menu offers much more...Every ingredient tastes fresh from the beginning of the meal to the end. My experience at Tuscana has always been more than superb, and I have never left dissatisfied. The service is speedy, the portions are large, and the flavour of the food keeps me coming back for more. Every meal gets better than the last.

PIZZAS, PIAGGIO AND A LOT MORE FROM TUSCANA

Well I became a fan of their staff when they so gracefully and gleefully agreed to my friend’s embarrassing yet charming request for a reservation past the serving hours on a late Saturday afternoon at the Tuscana Pizzeria. Now if you had the eye, the locales around Wallace Garden where this joint rests in a quiet corner sequestered by lush bushes would seem like the environs of a medieval Italian town not much different from the Comune di Tuscania and if that does not work there are a couple of old Piaggio scooters painted in vivid red and green that welcome you at the entrance.
Thanks to the laziness of a summer weekend we were the only guests for lunch and had all the attention of the staff that offered a very prompt service and made excellent recommendations. We were expectedly starving and started off with the fresh baked baguette slices topped with aromatic saffron infused crispy rice balls with shredded mozzarella and parmesan cheese with the remnant fragrance of pungent garlic and extra virgin olive oil that is always an olfactory delight. Pizza was of crisp, thin, golden crust perfectly baked in wood-fired oven with melting mozzarella and topped with shredded parmesan, Italian pancetta bacon, exotic avocados and asparagus and looked as picture perfect as the appetizing scenic portraits on the cream walls. Next was my favourite gnocchi filled with minced chicken, pumpkin and rosted cashew nuts and it had all these different flavours blended together by no less than a craftsman. And finally this grandiose meal concluded with a lovely dark chocolate calzone also filled with juicy flavourful raspberries.
I look forward to sample a lot more from their menu on my next visit and hope there would be exciting new additions. Lunch for two costs approximately 1000 INR without beverages.

Fab food but one tiny issue

Me n my husband have been to Tuscana, Teynampet couple of times..awesome n delicious food no doubt..But there is only one issue which we faced this time when we went in a group of 4 ..i.e d portion of starters as well as pasta dishes which were noticeably insuffcient. We had ordered one starter which were tiny puff pastry tkinda thing. I dont remember the name of the dish..But there were only 4 pieces for 4 of us!!It was over in single byte.Same was d case of pasta. We had to order d same dish twice coz it was so incredibly sufficent..Pizza quanty was no probs. My only request is when u r chrging so much being a fine dinin rest , quantity shud b adequate ..Quatity is equally imp as taste, ambience, quality n service.I hope u'll take my review in a good spirit..

Thanx

Never cease to impress

My first visit to Tuscana was the day they inaugurated it. I have been a regular ever since. But still, I felt compelled to write a review today because the food was excellent.
As we go in, the smell of cheese and the wood fired pizza stimulate our appetite. We had garlic bread with sauteed onion and plain garlic bread for starters. Our pizza was midi, which was an exotic one and the vegetables were so soft and coated with cheese that they just melted in our mouths. Pasta was as usual awesome. We finally came to Tiramisu, my personal favorite. I dont know if I am exaggerating but todays was the best Ive had so far in Tuscana. With the instrumental music playing in the background I take in a bite of the Tiramisu and I was lost in some world when my friend wakes me up and asks me to pay the bill..
As for the bill, It is a tad too expensive but is worth every penny.

Very good

Me and my friend went to tuscana based on the recommendation of my friend.I ve been to italia and azulia before where i love their pizza's bu tuscana offers something different compared to them.Based on the recommendation of the waiter we ordered one cheese garlic bread, one panner pizza and a panna cota for desert. The pizza was good but not great. There was something missing in it.I was not disappointed with it but it could have been better. However i loved the cheese that was used in the pizza. The garlic bread and panna cota were kick ass.It must surely be their best dish.Lastly i would like to say the prices are really reasonable given the quality of food here.I ve already heard a lot about burgundy's.Will surely give it a try in the near future.

Yummy

Had a Yummy evening at Tuscana yesterday. Awesome dinner, excellent service, lovely place. Saw several Europeans dining, proving the flavours are authentic and not "Indianized". Went early, but despite it being Monday by 8.30 the crowd was in - obviously Tuscana is very popular. Thank you Tuscana for a lovely evening.

Incredibly awesome

Went there, and the first thing that hit me was the incredibly great fragrance (the light cheese-y fragrance) and superb ambience... Had Italian music, and the lighting was just too perfect.. Then came the next step, the ordering, had so many options, I actually got confused, what to eat and what not to... So I counted to three and where my finger landed, ordered that. And hence we got Pasta and Lasagne... The moment my pasta came and the fragrance just intoxicated me, I thought I had landed in Italian heaven... :P ... The first bite, and the taste just blew my mind... It was incredibly awesome...

Oh master chef, thanks a lot for the superb dinner... I'm actually at a loss of stars Would have loved to give you 7 out of 5.. But the site doesn't allow it...

Would love to come back again!!! Or, as Arnold Schwarzenegger would have said, I'll be back...

La pizza grande

May be the next time the European Union meets on resolving the sovereign crisis, they should fly out Pizza's from this place. No, seriously. It should keep the politics out, and convince members for a generous bail out package to Italy.

I've tasted Pizza in all possible places. From those with nice marketing budgets, ones listed on the stock markets to those tossed up in over-priced buffets. While I enjoyed the crusts in some, I enjoyed the toppings in others. But nothing prepared me for this. I realized this was may be the first time I've tasted Pizza the way it ought to be. Like a Russian who takes a sudden interest in Cricket. And thinks Shahid Afridi is the best batsman there could ever be. And then, one day, he watches VVS Laxman on a 4th day pitch. Sticking it out till the end of the 5th day.

I don't know how to de-construct how and why Cheese on bread does the trick. It just does. Your mouth does not drip even after that voluptuous dose of mozzarella and olive oil. You are tempted to skip courtesies of offering that last slice to the Misssus. It makes you wicked. And happy. At the same time. To add to Krish Ashok's analogy (review below), may be that's how Don Corleone had a clear conscious?

Every aspect, right down to the wash room: 5/5. And don't forget to ogle at the counter when your Pizza's being made. They welcome it.

If I may, my facial expressions after that first bite, loosely resembled that of Anton Ego's "after" he tucked into Ramy's Ratatouille.

Great Italian food and service

On my recent visit to Chennai I went to Tuscana Pizzeria. The wood fired
pizzas were so so good-I have never eaten anything like that in Delhi. I
tried the whole wheat version and I could hardly tell the difference-there
was no difference in taste. I am so glad they have that as many people like
to opt for whole wheat of which they have a choice. I did not try the whole
wheat pastas and gluten-free pastas which were there too...maybe the next
time. What I really liked about the ambience is the tables close to each
other and their quick and efficient service-kind of reminds me of
restaurants in Europe where the seating is always very very close. I highly
recommend this place to all of you. And yes, the tiramisu....do not miss it.

Best Pizzas in town!!

Being new to Chennai I was on the look out for some good food. I had once invited some friends over for some pizza and a few beers. On arrival they see that I had ordered a bunch of pizzas from dominos and just gave me one of those "what is wrong with you" looks. I was told that I should try the pizzas at Tuscana Pizzeria and that where I went to next day for lunch.

We ordered the Diavolia pizza which was a non vegetarian pizza with pepperoni and the Siciliani pizza which had sundried tomatoes, olives and pesto. Lets just say I won't be having Dominoes for a while. This place has changed Pizza for me. I wanted to try their pastas but I was very full and I was hoping to have some dessert. We ordered the tiramisu. Hands down best tiramisu ever! It was fresh. The sponge cake was rum soaked. I could taste the rich, creamy mascarpone. It was so light and soft, like cutting through a cloud; like there was nothing there.
I will definitely be visiting again to try their pastas.
Tiny little secret: I've been getting pizzas and tiramisu delivered to my place since that day I visited. I just can't get enough.

Good but expensive.

I was having high expectations after reading the reviews here. The prices range from sensible to atrocious. For example pizza's at 500-600bucks is sensible, but 250bucks for soup or a water bottle or coke at 85 is senseless !! When the bill finally arrived I dint feel happy at all. I wish the waiters were more proactive in suggesting dishes, I felt they dint have much clue as I did. The place has way too many tables, it was as if i was having dinner with the fat lady sitting opposite to my table than my friend. If you want a nice quiet/romantic dinner this isnt the place. The pizza is good, the chicken clear soup was bad or i dont know if it was meant to be that way and the garlic bread way too oily. Because of the prices this place can be best rated at average.

Total Rip Off

Hi guys,
Tonight i had dinner in Tuscana, Chennai. Ordered some Pizzas with one liter kinley mineral water. Everything was going fine till the bill came. I was charged Rs. 85!!! for that one Kinley water which had an MRP of Rs.16. When asked about it they said, they are giving good ambiance so they are charging that against MRP. We are paying for their food but a 500% increase in MRP for a water bottle?? When i said i will take actions against it, their reply was "You can very well go ahead SIR"

What are they thinking about their customers? I wanted to start a fight but had to keep it down since i went with family.

I have the bill with me as a proof!. I will never go to this place again nor will recommend it to anyone

Good experience, will be back again!

It was our first visit to Tuscana Pizzeria on Sunday. Having eaten at Kryptos by Willy, we were expecting it to be as good. I should say that this place did not disappoint us. The overall experience was great but a few things need to be worked on.
We ordered Focaccia al Pesto and and zuppa di funghi for starters. I must say that both were really good. The zuppa di funghi was so good that it can be the sole reason for visiting this place again. For main course, we ordered a pizza 'midi' which was okay and not bursting with flavours like the starters. We had to add the shredded Cheddar that they provided at the table to add flavour to it. A major disappointment was the dessert, we ordered a calzone dessert with berry sauce and tiramisu. Contrary to the description, the dessert lacked tiramisu totally and wasnt tasty either. I was regretting not sticking to the original decision of Panna Cotta, which we had at Kryptos and was really good.
Apart from the food, the ambience and the decor were good, though the service could be a little speedier.
Overall, we had a great time and will be visiting again shortly.
P.S.- There is a suggestion- We felt the need of some accompaniments with the starters. You could serve dips like sour cream, salsa or any other which will make the starters taste even better and juicier :)

Value for money

I can proudly say that I am a Tuscana regular. I go to Italy every 2 months for work and food, and I proudly say that if Tuscana exports its food to all of Italy, the Italians wont know the difference, because the food at Tuscana is truly Italian. The Diavola pizza is mind-blowing. I also love how they have a wheat alternative for all their pizzas and pastas, making the food healthy, and amazing! I love the panna cotta, and the tiramisu is truly perfect. And the service is impeccable, starting from the valet. The best thing about Tuscana is the price, which is unbelievably cheap. You will not get such good food at such a good price anywhere else in India. I only hope that soon Tamil Nadu liquor laws will be relaxed so that I can enjoy a glass of wine with my favourite food. Best of luck Tuscana!

Great pizzas, great service

Gone to Tuscana a few times, and always loved their pizzas. My favorite, by far, is the Siciliana: especially because they will make it on a pesto base if on asks for it as such. They make it crispy like I ask them to, and its just the right amount of thin crust crispy that I love. (and very difficult to find in Chennai!)
The mushroom risotto is also very good, and the lasagna is also great (if a little heavy & too cheesy).
The other pastas are a so-so -- stay away from the gnocchi. I found it too starchy, and on the next visit, the manager confirmed that it wasn't a hand-made gnocchi.

Desserts: the tiramisu: Excellent. The panna cotta: also very very good.
The service is always polite, and attentive.

I'll go back often -- its so good!

p.s. they've increased the prices so its ~500/person now, FYI.

Go there for the Panna Cotta

I was at Tuscana late night on a weekend. Since we were almost the last few customers the service was quick and friendly. We tried the bruschetta with shrimp for starters and a Smoked chicken pizza for mains. Both of them tasted great but the highlight of the meal for me was the uber smooth Panna Cotta. In fact last time when we were really disappointed at Kefi I called Tuscana and requested them to pack a Panna cotta for me and they were kind enough to wait till I picked it up which was 12.30 am :)

A meal for 2 cost us 1500 bucks and I would happily visit them again.

Over HYPED and Over PRICED

We ordered for 2 Calzone Ripieno (9 inches) which was not folded in a proper manner and we found the food to be half cooked.

We asked the waiter to take notice of it. He went away from our table and came after 8 mins with no answer.

For one of my veg friend we ordered Risotto Al Fungi.

In this we found the mushrooms taste sooo odd(may be old).

Good reviews about this place made us to visit.

Food was awful and too expensive.

Damage for a bad food is Rs. 3000 for 5.

Dont taste Italian

I love pizza's and i have tasted it in UK and Italy and this place is a absolute disaster. They cannot able to make proper pizzas. We tried the thin crust pizza and it tasted like nothing..the cheese tasted blunt. I think they should really use good ingredients when they charge so much on the bill. I have tried few other pizzas in other parts of the city and this place is not satisfactory Again the waiters seems to be problem there are only a couple of them and they are struggling to keep up with the orders. we also tried the pasta and theolive oil in it really seemed not a good quality. i am woried and didnt have a feeling of a proper dinner. will never visit again. the parking also seems to be a bit of a pain

Great Italian

Tuscana is the joint venture between Vipin (of the Subway fame) and Chef Willi ( of the 601 at The Park) and they created an outstanding Italian restaurant right at the heart of Chennai. I have been there quite a few times and the first few visits told me that their pizzas were not great, but the pastas and the lasagna and the other baked dishes were simply great! A menu change happened somewhere in May 2010 and the tables turned upside down - the pizzas became great and some of my favorite dishes from the baked kitchen vanished!

Over the last year and a half, Tuscana has improved by leaps and bounds and if you get your dish right, you will certainly fee that you have been given the best deal of Italian food outside of Italy, but if you go wrong, you could end up feeling rather bad, as the place is very expensive!

The BBQ chicken pizza gives you a taste of really authentic pizza - just a simple tomato sauce, Italian herbs, cheese and the choice of meat - really how the pizza originally was! I prefer to eat mine with a dash of olive oil and oregano and they are placed right on the table for you! These guys make the best breads in town and the single stick garlic bread is a standard order whenever we get here - it tastes great with both the soup and the pasta! Coming to the pasta, this is one dish that has constantly disappointed me at Tuscana - I never seem to find the best one to eat so I have stopped trying and have been enjoying the other baked stuff - the cannenoli and the lasagna - pretty outstanding stuff! The cheese sauce Cannenoli was my favorite but it has disappeared from the menu and the wife sorely misses it - Been asking the guys to bring it back, but it has not happened and somehow they just cannot make something that is not in the menu for you - a rare thing in an upmarket restaurant!

They serve great Italian coffee, the with the chocolate mix (I forget the name) being my favorite. The desserts are limited but the Tiramisu and the Pannacota are outstanding desserts here - I suggest you keep away from others as they are pretty bad, but these two are pretty outstanding and I always get them.

Service is great and attentive, the tables are a little too close for comfort so on a busy day you will hope that the person in the next table does not listen to your personal stuff, that is one thing that keeps me away from here for a casual visit! Reservations are certainly recommended on weekends, as the waiting times can get obscene unless you get here post ten thirty!

I wish they can make something from the old menu for me, but otherwise I know what to order here and almost always (the last visit was not great) get up from the table completely satisfied. Yes, the place is expensive and it can spoil your day if you are not prepared for it - everything will look bad if the right side of the menu astonishes you!

Not an authentic experience

Went to Tuscana yesterday for the first time but was not impressed at all. It doesn't look anything like an Italian restaurant inside. The design and the atmosphere are all wrong. It was packed and a pretty horrible place to be. Lots of noisy kids. The service was painfully slow and the food, when it eventually arrived, was nothing special. Worst of all, the wine and coffee (so important in an Italian restaurant) were both dire. Do these guys have any Italian connections at all? Have they ever been to Italy?

Well located, in the center of the city, but neatly tucked away from the madness that is Nungambakkam High road. Very helpful staff, patiently explaining all vegetarian choices. Very good food. Go there with a group that enjoys food and eats well, and you are guaranteed to have fun.

Last heard, they were planning to expand to other parts of Chennai. Will be good if they pick easily accessible places, with good parking.

Feedback frenzy

So true about restaurants and their obsession with feedback, Stenoid. Of course they all expect glowing comments, but almost never do they deserve them. In Search of the Perfect Pizza

As someone who has enjoyed some of the world's best pizza at famous pizzeria's such as New York's Grimaldis and John's Brick Oven Pizza in Greenwich Village for close to 3 decades, I naturally yearned for the occasional slice of pizza upon my return to India. But I did not find pizza heaven until I visited Tuscana's in Chennai. My first visit was uplifting...just like their pizza crust, light and airy. While their ambiance, authenticity and service were appealing, what caught my attention was their chef's creativity...unusual toppings that did not violate the integrity of the pizza tradition. That's hard to do. I encourage both pizza lovers and casual enthusiasts to give Tuscana a try...you're in for a treat. Bon appetito! Suresh Shottam

Tuscana experience

Stanoid,
its unfortunate somethin like this is happened. My experiences at Tuscana have always been so good. In fact sometimes when I order out the valet guys are so helpful that I need not get down from my car to pick up my take away. The most genuine valet guys I have seen and they do a good job of it. May be some1 else would have damaged the car.

When it comes to the best pizzas in town, I went the other day to Pizza hut to try out their new Tuscani Pizza was hoping it would be good as they have been marketing about it so much. But it was an absolute dissapointment. I would anyday have Tuscana whole wheat base Pizzas.

pastas are very ok.

The latest on my car

I decided to post something on the Tuscana Facebook page. I got an immediate response from Neha who seems to be the main contributor to the page. He offered me his apologies and asked me to send him my number (which I did). He said he wanted to talk to me about it. That was on January 29th and still no call. So some new ratings would be:

Reliability 0/5

Professionalism 0/5

Decency 0/5

These criteria may be too much to expect but the way I am being treated is only adding to my anger and disgust.

Anybody know of a place where I can get a decent pizza in Chennai because Tuscana makes my stomach churn?

Expensive .. less quantity

We entered Tuscana with a lot of expectation (after reading the reviews) but, needless to say it was not upto the mark. After taking our seats we ordered a Ceaser Salad( 400 plus), Americana pizza, Chicken and asparagus lasagne, tiramisu and panacotta. The serving of the salad was so small (compared to the ones we got in US) and the lasagne was average tasting. The tiramisu was okay and the panacotta was awesome( a must try). I must say that the pizza was the best among the ones we tried. If you are to visit Tuscana, do take the time to savour their pizzas. After having our dinner the bill arrives - needless to say they take the price of the open food they give when we arrive at the restaurant. They should have asked us whether we needed it or not.

All in all an average experience at Tuscana Pizzeria.

A queasy feeling from Tuscana

I may have enjoyed their food in the past but the customer service at Tuscana has left me feeling decidedly queasy. I waited again for the Food and Beverage manager to call and let me know what was happening about my complaint concerning their reckless valet parking but I got nothing. I got so annoyed waiting that I ended up phoning him. "I was going to call you," he said....hmmmm.

He basically told me he thought the scratch on my car looked like an old one (this is despite the fact that we were both wiping of the dust and mud marks around it) and said they couldn't have done it. He then said they can't take any responsibility for the cars they park.

Basically they stick them on a nearby road and can cause any damage to your car whilst they drive them there or bring them back and there is nothing you can do about it.

If you value your car, please learn from my experience and do not leave the keys with these clowns. They just don't take any care.

So, he has lost a customer. Firstly because of what they did to my car and secondly because he didn't have the decency to deal with my complaint in a professional and efficient way.

What a shame that a restaurant can be so badly let down by the pathetic way they deal with their customers. If I feel like a pizza, I will just need to look at the large scratch on my car and I'm sure it will put me off wanting to eat at Tuscana.

Shoddy Treatment at Tuscana

I really enjoyed going to Tuscana until recently. The food is great and the staff do their best in a very busy restaurant. I am afraid though that after what happened on Sunday, I doubt I will be going back.

After a good meal, I went to collect my car from the valet parking and was horrified to see a long scratch in the paintwork. I challenged the drivers about it but they denied having done anything saying that it was an old scratch. I know for a fact it wasn't. On a previous occasion when I had been there, I suspected they had damaged my car when they returned it with what appeared to be a new scratch but I had no proof (even in my own mind). Since then, I have always had a quick look before they drove the car off. I know every blemish on my car and this scratch was definitely new.

I spoke to the Food and Beverage manager and showed him the scratch. I even started to clean the dirt off around it in front of him (it was so obviously brand new). He said he would look into it and promised to phone me the next day.

I waited all day yesterday for a phone call...but nothing. I phoned Tuscana in the evening only to get their head office and be told that the manager in question was on leave! When I questioned why he had promised to phone me when he knew he was going to be on leave, they changed their story and said he was in the restaurant. They took my number and said he would call right back. I waited for an hour...no call. When I phoned the head office back, I was told they had all gone home!!!!

I am appalled by the fact that the valet parking service can damage your car and there seems to be no accountability and no comeback and I am quite disgusted by the lack of customer care and their inability to deal with a complaint.

I am still hoping they are going to do the decent thing and actually deal with damage they have done. We will have to wait and see.

Until this is resolved I suggest that anyone who goes to Tuscana thinks twice before handing over the keys to their car. If you do take the risk, check your car carefully because that meal might end up costing you a lot more than you had bargained for.

my go to place for fab Italian food

Tuscana.,,such a lovely place and such tasty food..so when eponymous Italian place opened up in KNK road some time ago, hubby and me, buoyed by some good reccos of course, pranced our way there, baby in tow, to check out the merchandise (as a matter of speaking)..we can confidently say that today, after maybe 12 visits over a period of 15 months (give or take) we have tried out virtually every item on the menu. And we have always been pleasantly surprised by the authenticity of the ingredients, the fresh produce they use and impeccable service.
Service in Tuscana is by far among the best I have ever seen anywhere. The waiters are kind and warm. They offer good suggestions and appear knowledgeable about the food (at least ours were). They dont stare blankly at you when you ask them what the hell is a 'gnocchi'.
We love their range of soups and starters. The pizzas are absolutely bang on authentic, even the bread is just the right consistency and baked to perfection. The risotto is impecable and the pastas are delightful. However, do leave a lot of space in thine tummies for the desserts. And do not, i repeat, do not, leave the restaurant without trying the tiramisu. I have had the tiramisu is five star restaurants and gourmet places across the country and even abroad. But nothing holds even a minor flickering candle to the tiramisu at Tuscana. It is that good. (and no, i dont know anyone at Tuscana and I havent been paid to write this, i speak as an ardent food lover)
The food is a bit expensive but when you see that the ingredients they use are so authentic and not some shop bought knock off, its truly worth it. I guess, if you were to reason that a pizza from Dominoes will only cost half as much, then you probably do not have to palate to appreciate the quality of the cuisine that Tuscana offers (not that that's a bad thing, authentic Italiano is a lot different than the ones dished by our local delis)..Tuscana is definitely the place to go for Italian in Chennai.

DELIZIOSO! :)

Quick View:Food-5,Ambience-5,Service-4,Wallet friendly-2

Been here twice, loved it both times. However, reservations would be advised, its hard landing here and getting a table spot on.Good sign though.Heh

We ordered the americana pizza, the lasgne verdi and the ravioli di pollo affumicato or something of the sort which deserves special mention for the melt-in-your-mouth consistency. All three were expensive, medium portions but hey, nothing good ever comes cheap right? : )

Dessert is always tiramisu for me,im partial, hehe, which was a little more hard than desired but still delicious.

Ambience is nice, lots of tasteful art and an outdoors section nicely done up.Tables a little closely arranged, but i Do get claustraphobic easily.

Service was quick, and staff were friendly and helpful, they do look a little hassled though since theres a Lot of people to serve, but then again, thats a good sign.

All in all a fancy price tag but authentic top notch food, like they say in italy-Delizioso!

AUTHENTIC PIZZA

..drove down to chennai from bangalore, decided to have an early lunch at Tuscana the following day....
.. settled for 3 pizzas, can't recall the names. The 6 of us ordered a seafood pizza, a ham pizza and a chicken pizza- absolutely scrumptious!...one of us is a Pizza Express; UK patron.....after arriving in India it's been hard finding good pizza....we usually settle for (Jean Michel's )Toscano in Bangalore when pizza craving hits!
Sampled the desserts as well...the tiramisu was to die for YUMMMMM,however my all time favourite was the panna cotta (my first panna cotta experience)- amazing texture, specks of vanilla..with a berry sauce accompaniment .. I like my desserts light and flavoured just right....and this was just amazing!
The tortellini dessert and the chocolate pizza were very average....
Overall we had a wonderful meal!
The ambience is bright and cheery and the staff friendly. Tables are placed very close to each other...not the sort of place to settle for if you prefer a quiet meal !.. seems to be quite popular amongst Chennai's expat crowd......

Final Verdict-authentic pizza! we would definitely take on a road trip to Chennai just to dine at Tuscana!

What were they thinking??

Just cause they have an Italian name and chef they think they can take people for a ride. This place is so highly overpriced that it'll give you a stomach ache just because you paid so much to eat such measly quantities. The salami pizza - large one, has like 2 pieces of salami and they cost 450 bucks. Who you trying to kid! Trust me, real Italian servings are much larger and very reasonably priced.

Remember when you go there, that you're not paying for the food or quantity, you're just paying for the high priced location and the fancy interiors.

Perfection

Tuscana on a lazy sunday afternoon reminds one a little bit of a young cultural meet. Splashes of color are on the wall, the food and young ,hep crowd.

The pasta was cooked to perfection with just that dash of flavor. We had a dish with saffron in it and found that the true flavor of saffron in a non sweet dish tasted very interesting.

The blueberry dessert was out of the world. This is a great place to go if you like your pasta cooked to perfection and your vegetables carefully flavoured.

I would recommend this place to that meticulous food buff out there looking for the perfect fare.

Doesn't match the hype

I have been hearing a lot about Tuscana and wanted to go there for a long time, but I didn't have an opportunity. Finally I managed to go there few days back with a customer of mine from Canada. The ambiance & service was good. But I was totally disappointed with the food. I ordered a Pollo Affumicato pasta and my customer had a Lasagna. Both these dishes were not tasting good. The chicken in my pasta was tough and the sauce was tasteless sans any flavour. The taste and quality didn't match the price.

Good pizzas, bad pastas

Yup, the title just about sums it up.

Service, ambience, etc are all fine.

But the pastas really need some work. absolutely bland, tasteless, almost as if in the name of being authentic. As an absolute foodie (esp of italian food), I know the difference.
Pizzas were really quite good though.

Avg food, Noisy atmosphere, pricey

I have found Tuscana Pizzaerria to be quite overrated. To begin with, the place is quite pricey. Now if you're going to be pricey, you better serve me the real deal and make the atmosphere comfortable.

I find this place claustrophobic as way too many tables have been squeezed into a very small place, so much so that to get out of your seat, it's tough to do so without hitting a chair or shoving a table beside you, inconveniencing other diners. And because the place is so small, with so many tables squeezed in, boy is it noisy in there!

The food itself needs tremendous work. My biggest problem was the utter lack of subtlety in the dishes I ordered. The cream in a creamy pasta sauce is overdone, that it's impossible to finish the whole portion. Halfway, it kind of makes you a little sick.

Flavours in almost any Pizza you order just go out the roof. Absolutely no subtlety whatsoever. And these guys must really be getting some major discount on garlic purchases. Garlic is an important ingredient in Italian cuisine, but its addition needs to be controlled so that it doesn't get repulsive.

A simple Ceasar Salad isn't done right. In any salad, the lettuce needs to be served ice-cold and crispy. But here it was soggy. When you add lemon to a Ceasar Salad, it needs to be a tinge, not a bath. Again, lessons in subtlety.

Usually, I wouldn't nitpick so much, but when you charge me premium rates, I deserve to be served food the way it should be served.

And please get rid of the mosquito problem in the corner areas.

Tuscana isn't a bad place. It's just that it doesn't nearly provide the quality and sophistication proportionate to its pricing.

More than just pizzeria

Yes, Tuscana is a great pizzeria but it is definitely more than that.

We (my wife and I) have been to Tuscana now some half a dozen times - lunch, dinner, weekends, weekdays - and never disappointed.

The place is a no-nonsense, authentic Italian ristorante; definitely not "fine-dining" but rather the type of place that can be found in every village in Italy. But hard to find over here.

We have had salads, pizzas, pastas, risottos, desserts. All first-rate, and definitely good value for money.

Some reviewers have suggested that Tuscana should customize the food to Indian palate. I REALLY hope they won't. When I go to Italian restaurant, I want to get Italian food, not some semi-Indian.

Great Pizzas

When a restaurant is titled as a Pizzeria - one would expect nothing but great pizzas. In a nutshell - it was not disappointing.

My wife and I decided to drop in to check out the place. We were warned that this is a place that requires "advance" booking, but we decided to take our chance and dropped in. Much to our surprise, we were seated instantly.

The place was pleasantly well lit, not something one would expect from a "fine dining" restaurant where one would expect a quieter dining experience.

The seat which we got was not all that great, with the AC blast straight at us, and a very uncomfortable sofa which I was sitting on. But then again, I dont know if I was sitting in the wrong place.

The waiters also were not warm and friendly. There was a false sense of service or even hospitality which was coming through, and more importantly, it was like we did not matter. the sections where we sat had just 2 tables occupied, howver, it was nearly 10 mins before someone came to take our order. The person actually came, halfway through taking our order, he went away, and then someone else came back to take our order.

The Americana was excellent. The 9 inch was quite sufficient, which leads me to the point where the waiter should have told us that the 9 is sufficient for two people. Which infct he did not and ws pushing us to order more. We stopped with a Ravioli order and no starters or side dishes. The idea of a meal is not to stuff ones face till they cant breath but to enjoy a meal with variety.

I do believe I must go there once more to see if the same experience continues as I personally believe a single visit to a place does not allow one to do justice, esp while writing a review which might or might not influence other people. So so far my experience has been - Average.

The cleanliness was great and the food quantities was ok. So I might just go back once more, before I am convinced about this place.

light food...heavy price!!

The food here is good, never been to italy so dont know what "authentic italian food" tastes like...but compared to the gooey crap dished out in most places in the name of italian food this place was surprisingly and refreshingly good.

The sauces are light and flavorful, the food is tasty and light...but a tad less filling!....We were a bunch of 6 who were ordering non stop and at the end of iti we all felt like we ordered too much but ate too little...we had everything except the soups and deserts...and all that we ate was good...will def go there again...

The bill was a little on th heavier side...but I guess given the location and target crowd...thats not surprising...:)

Great food with great service

I took my fiancee to lunch at Tuscana for Valentine's day. We started of with the Minestrone col Pesto, which was perfectly seasoned.

The Ravioli con Pollo Affumicato had the proper mixture of different tastes with black and green olives, mushrooms with the chicken ravioli. The sauce wasn't too watery or too mushy, but had the right consistency.

We had the Panna Cotta and Torta di Polenta for dessert. The Torta given to us had some hair in it, and our waiter immediately gave us a new one, and the manager was gracious enough to waive off the cost of that dessert from our bill. I would definitely give them 5 stars for service.

Different Flavors

Well I'm basically a foodie...Wen I 1st heard of dis place I was thrilled as Chennai has very few authentic Italian food joints. Of course there are places like Little Italy n Bella Ciao but I have a feeling they are lost in terms of locality and ambiance (Esp Bella Ciao in Nunuambakkam High Road) but Tuscana is a nice place for a supple dinner with friends and its quite a nice date place too.
The menu is quite elaborate, and the best thing I think is flavors used in Pizza its refreshing and new. We had Focaccia starters and for main course Americano and 4 Stagioni Pizza, all of em were excellent
I'd also liked the table arrangements and house appetizers
The drink had reasonable variety and I quite enjoyed the Mock-tail I had although I would have loved to have had alcohol with such good food
The place is filled mostly by foreigners and the elite of Chennai, I felt grossly under-dressed with my 3/4 th crushed tees n flip-flops :) :@ :D
The place is not all that expensive you'll end up spending 1200-1400 for a meal for 2
(EATER ALERT: If you're not a big eater 9" Pizza is more than filling)
Overall Verdict: Its a 4 star for non-availability of alcohol and service can be better, some of them are little amateurish
But its a must try if u're in Chennai, I'm sure as hell goin back, gotta try their Pasta

A tad overated!

Went there last saturday, the decor felt kind of antiseptic to me with framed photos of italian food on the walls, i guess gives them the flexibility if they decide to change cuisines some day :)
Had an Americana pizza which was a lil too bland for me and i think for the indian palette as a whole too, i get that they may be trying to serve authentic stuff but a little customization to local tastes wudnt hurt...had a citrus honey ice tea along side which was tooooo sweet.....Given that the pizza cost wht it does in 5 star hotels i was cheesed off by the fact they charged 50 bucks for a bottle of water something that 5 star hotels dont!!!

Delizioso.. Authentico ;)

There are a couple of reasons for which I've been meaning to visit Tuscana for a while now..1) many good things have been said about it and 2) I actually haven't had a good Italian meal in Chennai since I moved here. Yes, I have had pasta's and pizza's, but thats where Tuscana is different. The ingredients are fresh and authentic and of excellent quality.
What I like about Tuscana is that the main focus has clearly been the food-- an extensive menu that makes you want to have everything on it-- and yet stays true to the "italian food theme'.
Then comes the decor and ambience-- which complements the place well and is not too overpowering. The furnishings and colour scheme are in soothing neutral colours and the paintings and photographs accent the place with interesting colour bursts.
I like the detail in terms of the table crockery and cruet sets having couloured stripes of red, yellow, orange and green and this coordinates with the various wait staff uniforms. Even the glassware is nice and colourful.
Yes, as remarked by the @expert, the staff is a little confused and although courteous, seem to be running around clueless and may not have adequate training required to do justice to the brilliant menu. I don't blame the owners-- a match of great skill and labour (at an economical price) is not easy to find in Chennai (or maybe anywhere else in the world either).

We had the foccascia classico- accompanied with some olive oil and balsimic vinegar ( as mentioned by @perky-- one of my dining companions), a pizza which was delicious- melt in the mouth with some excellent artichokes and perfect ham., and a ravioli which was stuffed with shrimps and had a very tasty pesto sauce with asparagus.
I have to admit, I did want to try out the dessert- but had absolutely no space for that- had to settle for a cappuccino instead.
Overall a great meal-- I'm very glad I went there, would definately recommend it- as a place to go to with friends, family, colleagues or even a working lunch! Don't discuss anything too confidential as the seating is uncomfortably close to each other.
I wouldn't call this 'fine dining' it's more like a trattoria-- and a very good one!

Pretty Good

Went with two other friends and was quite busy for a Sunday..

Order the focaccia and ask for some balsamic vinegar on the side and you cant go wrong-bread was made fresh and hot

Pizza was really good and worth writing home about, the ravioli was nice but the sauce was not thick enough and a bit runny

Have given the restaurant 4 stars but my biggest complaint is that the restaurant seats around 60 but has only one toilet for men & women (a really good toilet but only one!!!)

Pizza Delights

Tuscana was a suprise revelation. Let not the building deceive you. The decor was awesome with the customary little red scooter of Rome.

Starters were a tad disappointing. The Burschetta that @krishashok mentioned had fallen from its graceful position. The arrogance of Demand I believe.

But the pizzas were simply mindblowing. I have come to realize that the definition of Pizza in other Pizzaeria s is simply based on the American version of it.

The hand made pizza simply melted in your mouth. completing a 12" pizzas a task that can be very daunting in other restaurants ,was very easy.

I would avoid the pasta if it aint with the pesto sauce. It simply not worth it.

one can definitely go for the pizzas and the ambiance.

Don Corleone would approve of this place

If a freak space time warp (perhaps as a result of some diabolical experiment at the LHC) transposed a part of Italy to the neighbourhood of Nungambakkam and along with it a bunch of clearly peeved Italians who would find themselves suddenly encountering nasty auto drivers and maddening traffic, they would like find some place in chennai that offers them solace, peace and pleasant reminders of home. And good Italian food, because people from that part of the world take their food seriously (seriously enough to start a "Slow food" movement to counter the American "Fast food" juggernaut). Now, where would they go?

They needn't worry because they could step into Tuscana and be transported to Tuscany instantly. The pesto is so good that if this was North Korea, Kim Jon Il would have banned it just so he could hog all of it privately. The tomatoes in the burschetta are so fresh, that had they been any fresher, they'd just be pollen and pistil prior to fertilization. The food is so damn Italian that people who eat there get a temporary Italian accent for a short while afterwards.

If they are hiring food tasters and paying no salary while extracting slave labour, I would submit my resume without hesitation.

Great food, service could be better

Tuscana Pizzaeria is the new addition to Chennai’s international genus of restaurants. The décor is tastefully done, with an option to sit in outdoor setting. But the tables are laid so close to each other making it impossible to have a peaceful conversation, so much so you can you hear the slurping from neighboring tables, which destroys the whole purpose of fine-dining. Uncomfortable is the word.

Coming to the food, the menu is vast and appetizing to look at. The wood fire-oven pizzas of course steal the show, although there are also a wide variety of pastas available. The waiter recommends the Siciliana Pizza and that is a thin crust one with Goat Cheese, Artichokes and Olives. The pizzas are delectable and authentic.

The service is not up to standards expected. Hospitality to guests needs tremendous improvement considering the class they are catering to and the expensive tag that comes with it. The main course comes anywhere between Rs. 300 to Rs. 500, and a meal for two will come to at least Rs.1000 including desserts. The desserts recommended are Tiramisu and the Pera Cotta which is baked Pear stuffed with Walnuts and dipped in Caramel, both of which are exotic and a must-try.

Overall, a one-of-its-kind Italian eatery which is a welcome change to the global cuisine scene in the city. Only a few necessary amends to the ambiance and service will ensure that the patrons have a wholesome experience.

Truly Italian

I was here this weekend with my friends and was'nt disappointed with their food. This place was almost packed with families on a rainy day ! The menu was elaborate. We ordered a pizza and a pasta. The taste was very good but I dont think the food is value for money. The food is very expensive. On an average a pizza costs 500 as is the case for pasta..... The interiors are neatly done. Cheers ! ! !

Good Food

The resturant has just opened on Monday (2nd Nov) So there is some bit of rough edges.

For start there is parking is not a problem, step in a the place has warm friendly feel to it. The staff are very very enthustiac!! but then it is their first day at the job!!

The menu is short but presents are good selection of Itallian fare.

The presentation of food was very good.
The meal for 2 was well proportioned.

The Pizza was excelent. This is not the average home delivery stuff that gets home in 30 minutes. This is the kind of pizza you wait 30 minutes outside to get a seat in the resturant for.

1 12" Pizza, 1 Salad, 1 water (Himalayan) 1 Tiramisu and 1 Apple Cake put us back by Rs1,120/-
It was worth every buck

Pizzas!! Fantastico!!!

The Food Terrorist was very excited from the morning to get to a promise land, a land of wood fired pizzas of great flavour and aroma. The authentic italian pizza! Well lets stop the fantasies and get to the reality.

Tuscana Pizzaeria is located at the 3rd Street, Wallace Gardens, Diagonally opposite Stanley boutique, the building which had a levis signature store previously, on the road opposite Mocha. Getting there is pretty easy, valet parking, and ample bike park. The Restaurant to begin with has a very good ambience with touch of fine dining to add to. The interiors are bright and have a line of pictures on the wall, I did feel the lighting was a bit bright for my liking but I guess thatâ??s how all the pizza hangouts in the city are. We were 2 and were placed in a table for two without any waiting. Both myself and my friend wanted to move out to the outside seating (which btw is very well done and well light for a very good night out for a romantic dinner under the moon, and under the moonlight it was where we were moved after the staff had set up an extra table as the outside was reserved already)

They have two kitchens, I managed to look at one where the pizza are made and baked, this staffs were trained for 4weeks they seem like they know what they were doing. This kitchen is at the back of the Resto any one can walk to it and its open to see. The kitchen is designed very authentically (when you look at it your know what i am talking about, and the Being an armature Photographer I am going to take my cam the second time around to shoot some pictures of the process.

Now letâ??s get down to the food,

We had ordered the following -
1.Focaccia Ripiena
Focaccia filled with cheese, olives and tomato

2.Alfredo
Butter, mushrooms, green peas, cream and cheese

3.Margherita
Mozzarella, tomato, fresh basil and oregano

Mind you being a vegetarian and being only two at the table we did not order any meat.

The waiters pronounce the dishes the way they have to in a trained Italian accent ,a nice touch. The food arrived in 10 Mins, the Focaccia was Soft and filled it a good amount of cheese and onions. There are two pieces, might be a heavy starter if you are only two at the table, not for us we were there to invade the Pizzeria with our gluttony.

Next came the pasta, Alfredo penne pasta. And floored i was. The sauce was excellent and the penne was so well cooked so was the peas and mushroom, Butter Cheese and cream where there to delight your taste buds the way they have to, not a liquid sauce but a thick and Yummy sauce. Perfect for the pasta!

Then came in the 12inch Pizza, served on a wooden plate. The Pizza was thin, crisp, and the touch wheat and the bottom of the pizza was the star of the pizza, The reason being, when you take a bite of the slice the first taste you get is the taste of the wheat powder at the bottom, then the thin crisp base, the really well made sauce and the cheese made an awesome combination. the pizzas were non greasy unlike the pizza huts' or corners or other hangout leaving you a oily hand or the pan being greasy. these were outstanding pizza slices, highly recommended for the every foodie! These 9inch/12inch wonders need to tasted to believe it. I can only imagine how really well made the other pizza will be. Chef Willy and team have made a effort that every single pizza hangout in the city can only try to overcome.

Time to order Dessert, my friend is a huge chocolate freak and sadly to her dismay there was only one chocolate dessert in the menu and that to wasnâ??t available, but i ordered the Tiramisu. I have had a few tiramisus in the city, but boy oh boy, this is made by god! There I was blessed with this little 2x2 inch pudding in front of me and let me tell you it is a Delight! its the best dessert I have had in the city and will be for a very very long time! I then decided that I will preach this place and Tiramisu to every possible person i could. Leaving the place was the only saddest part of the night. it was good 2hours spent with some delicious authentic Italian fare! Watch out for the really nice Red Scooter in front and a picture of the Scooter in an European looking lane inside the Resto was a good touch of creativity.

My wallet lost a good 900 Rs but I would say it was very well spent, and if you are there for pizzas alone with a group of friends it wouldnâ??t be an expensive affair.

Finally the food terrorist rating, I would throw 5 BOMBS out of 5 at Tuscana Pizzeria, Have A BLAST!

And I would be going to go back to this place this week again to taste the other dishes. And the Italian coffees on the menu! My guess is that the top portion of the building to will be open soon because mind you I would expect a huge waiting time once the word is out in the street that this is the place for your perfect pizza! Donâ??t forget! Lick that wheat of your fingers when you are done with the pizza!
