Very nice Indian restaurant and service and food was very good. We shared a few dishes and the dhal makhani was excellent, as were the prawns.

Great food; nicely varied menu;

We are never disappointed with our dining choice at Spice Market! The food is exceptional and you have the perfect evening at this one stop! The vegetables are always fresh and locally grown while the entrees are exceptional. You can't go wrong with small plates - sliders are highly recommended- if you want less to eat. This is worth finding and making it a favorite. You won't be disappointed.

Best food ever had probably

Best food ever had here in Saket probably. I lives in Noida and comes very less in this part of Delhi but recently one of my friend bring me here and i found this plae not only good but probably the best place to have Indian..A true savoury ..well..to begin with the complementary shikanji was outstanding..a welcome drink that eased us in its first sip..the wide assortment of pickles, onions and papads gave a prelude to the outstanding meal that was about to come..started with hara tangri kebab..one of the best snacks..strongly recommended to all those carnivores out there.....the gatte ki sabzi was simply marvelous...so was the yakhni pulao..one of my vegetarian friend's ordered for rajma ke shammi..had never tried something so yummy and that too vegetarian..brilliantly done..and go for their dessert sampler..it has everything that you sweet tooth can ever crave for..

Keep it up Guys !!

Have had better. Average.

Went here in July. buffet looked impressive but I wasn't that hungry. Figure a la carte would be fine. Boy was I mistaken. Ordered a laal maas and roti after a starter. Wasn't particularly impressed, especially if I keep in mind the prices that they charge. Perhaps I should've gone for the buffet but I shouldn't be made to think that because my food experience was average. Will give it another shot sometime perhaps as I do see potential in the dishes mentioned on the menu.

Worth trying!

Went to this place last week, and still can't stop talking about the awesome corn seekhs I had there. They have a yummy buffet spread, but we were not hungry enough and so opted for a la carte. The options aren't too many, but the ones you have are sumptuous. Generous portions, attentive service and a great ambience. The cost is on the higher side, but overall, a great experience.

Pretty cool

After reading great reviews , i decide to try out the spice market. The ambience was cool and chic. We settle for the buffet. The seating was comfortable. Unlike other restaurants the starters were served on the table. The starters consists of panner tikka, aloo bonda, seekh kabab and many others, all were tasted awesome. Then we move forward to main course and the variety was pretty decent. Paneer, dal makhni, kadi and biryani were awesome and very yummy. They offer variety of breads to choose from from butter to garlic naan. Along with the buffet they also drink and their drinks were to die for.
The only disappointment was the dessert. For such a high quality restaurant , they should look at the quality of desserts they are offering. The gulkand phirni and the moong dal halwa were the worst dishes i had ever tasted. They simply spoil my taste buds.
A must try restaurant for food lovers apart from their desserts.

Food & Ambience & Spice Market

Non-Veg food was made well but surprisingly the rates in the restaurant vis-a-vis mentioned here have a huge difference.. and the portions are small..the simple accompaniments like rice, rotis as well as non-alcoholic beverages are quite expensive. The dining area is quite small hence the overall experience is quite poor for the price we paid..

Excellent starters ... below average main course

I had gone to this place with my wife for my second anniversary dinner after reading good reviews @Burrp, and getting excellent feedback from one of my friends. I had opted for night buffet. The expectations were bit too high after reading good review, but to my surprise things are not up to our expectation.

Excellent Starter : Chutneys, papad are excellent, so were most of the veg/non-veg starter. Pathar ke Kabab is just out-of-world. They serve unlimited serving of it.. The fish starter was OK. There was one tangy chicken starter, which my wife didn't like (She preferred eating vegetarian stuffs) but I had two serving of it. It tasted awesome.

Below Average Main course: We are 90% full with the unlimited and excellent starter. We just wanted to taste the main course. What I find is beyond my wildest expectation. Pretty much all of the items were an orgy of oils, with lal maas leading the contingent. The Biriyanis were oily and spicy. And the roti's and nan were soked with liberal dose of butter. The rest of the items were oily and tasted average. I had gone to few places and have buffet in last 3-4 months, all of them served way better main course than the one that I got here. The only good point that I can find here is they served us some plain rice (it is not part of the menu, still they served us) which was good, and so were the daals.

Lastly the deserts were good.

To conclude, it was an OK-to-Good experience, with a very high price tag attached to it. The starters (my wife told me that these starters were far better than Kabab factory, where she had recently gone as a group outing) and deserts were good. Pathar kabab and tangy chicken (I forgot its actual name) but the oily main course was the real mood dampener. I couldn't understand the ho-halla about the laal-maas which seems to be bunch of weel-cooked mutton floating in a sea of oil.

Taken by surprise

I was under the impression this place is not good for vegetarians and only for meat lovers. I think it was proved wrong. had been there last week and was really impressed with ambiance, the staff were friendly and helped us distinguish the veg and non-veg guests. Overall the package was so filling it was just 600 per person. Overall experience was very good. ***** star to this place !

It's like Wine...only gets better with time!!!

The most awesome restaurant in town! When I had a perfect experience last time, I gave them a 5 star rating. This time it was even better, don't know how to justify!

I was there at Spice Market to celebrate the Valentine's Day with my better half. The menu was very elaborate to begin with. Now that there's fish and prawns added on the buffet menu, it's absolute value for money.

Pathar Kebab was as tender as always. Amritsari Fish was very crispy and fresh. Even being a hard core non-vegetarian, Makai Seekh has become one of my fav kebabs! I wish they had the Dahi Kebab on the buffet too!

Main Course was equally appetizing with Laal Maas, Kadhai Prawns & Bhutta Masala deserve a special mention. I was very very happy to end my meal with the strawberry phirni...!! It was so different. Only Spice Market can come up with such an innovative dessert.!

There was unlimited champagne with the buffet that day, so another reason to be "happy" and high!!

Total Bill - 3200 bucks for two with unlimited food & drinks!
Total Value for Money!!!

mixed feelings

Went to spice market today after reading a lot of positive reviews. We ordered kebab platter, laal maas, butter chicken with variety of naans. Have to admit that pather ke kebab, and some rajasthani kebab were really good. However, I was disappointed with the curries. The meat in the curries was very chewy though the curries themselves had decent flavor. I have not had a butter chicken that felt like I am chewing into a piece of rubber. One expects good stuff from a hyped expensive place. I wish burrp had an option to give 2.5 stars. Don't ask me why I am giving 2 stars and not 3 stars - I guess wondering I could have totally avoided this experience.

Outstanding food. Good VFM.

The food is outstanding though they slip sometimes.

Everybody raves about their Lal Maas etc. but you should also try their Keema Choley. For vegeterians Paneer Papad subzi is outstanding.

In dessert go for Phirni, Gulab Jamun, Custard & [yum yum] Malpuas. Outstanding.

Tip: Try to go when the owner, Mr. Sumit Gulati, is there. The food is better on those days !

Outstanding Buffet...!

The Dinner Buffet is outstanding. There is a lot of selection for vegetarians and otherwise. The soups, kebabs are brought to the table while the main course is on the buffet.

Worth Mentioning were Pathar Kebab, Mutton Galouti, Bhuna Kukda, Makai Seekh, Laal Maas, Dum Aloo and the Chicken Biryani. Also the freebies like chutneys, papad and pickles are almost handpicked and all very distinct.

It was a bit crowded, but the service was adequate. Wish there was some fish on the buffet...otherwise a fantastic place!

over hyped

Based on internet reviews i decided to visit this place with my family.
We had only vegetarian dishes and a-la-carte. The starters were ok, dahi kebab was good and paneer tikka was average.
the man course was disappointing, even though there was not too much crowd. Tarka daal was bland and was worse than dhaba. Ghatte in ghatte ki curry was rock solid. difficult to break in first shot.
ambience was ok, but they could not do anything about insects falling on our plates from overhead hanging lamps. Finally we ourselves had to take out the bulbs from there.
In my opinion Satvik or Punjabi by nature is anyday a better option than this.

Magnificent Lunch!

I got to know about the Lunch Buffet from an online promotion. We opted for the King Size Buffet, which costs arnd 700 bucks including taxes. It totally beat our expectations!! We had 2-3 rounds of kebabs, special mention to Pathar Kebab, Bhuna Kukda and Makai Seekh. Main Course was very tasteful. Really liked the Keema Chholey and Chicken Chettinad. For vegetarians, there were more options like Rajma, Paneer Koftas and Dum Aloo. Mixed veg could have been spicier.
In desserts, I really liked the Fruit Custard and Phirni.

There's a free beer included in the buffet and you can have a second round for 100 bucks. Overall, it is a superb concept. Must try for anyone who is in Saket....!

Over Hyped - Spice Market !!!

I am an avid internet user and always eager to explore good deals on websites offering deals and discounts. Last fortnight, one of the ads on www.mydala.com caught my eye – it was about a discounted buffet meal at the up market Indian/North Indian specialty restaurant called Spice Market, located in Saket. The buffet, at INR 249 per person, looked like a steal to me. I decided to buy two vouchers to try out the meal at SM. I visited the much-hyped restaurant Yesterday in order to redeem the vouchers. I entered with a friend, and promptly informed the management about our vouchers and handed them our coupons. We chose the table at the end to savor lunch while we discuss business. Much to my surprise, the waiter came to our table to ask us if we’d opt for a-la-carte meal or the buffet. I had to clarify to him, once again, that our vouchers pertained to the “Express buffet” which we wanted to try out. In the next five minutes, another waiter appeared again at our table to ask us if we prefer the “Express Buffet” or the more elaborate one (read the expensive one). This was disconcerting. We did manage to settle for the Express Buffet after all.
For starters, we were served papads accompanied by four different types of sauces and onion rings. I’m not much for papads, and I proceeded to the washroom to wash my hands before starting on the meal, only to discover that there wasn’t any soap in the wash room. I used my own supplies that I carried with me. The AC next to our seats was dripping almost on us, and a foreigner couple seemed to take in the scene with some amusement. We started off on the main course, finally. . Most vegetarian items just about touched the average mark except the “Kache Kele Ki Kofte” which tasted great. My non-vegetarian friend rated his fare as average. Soon afterwards, we were served a formidable-looking large bowlful of Biryani accompanied with Raita, but one spoonful of it made us balk at the aftertaste – there was way too much salt in it. The main course over, the table was cleared to make way for the desserts - Phirni, Gulab Jamun and some creamy stuff, which looked fine but tasted stale. Every now and then, we had to call staff for water. Even the accompaniments during the meal - simple stuff like chillies, onions, side dishes and spoons, required a lot of cajoling to arrive. Inside the restaurant it was hot and stuffy, leaving the both of us sweating. I noticed with dismay that most customers were frantically asking for water to drink, as the service was tardy. The interiors looked shabby, and the crockery was marks and smudges and could do better with some serious hygiene checks. While leaving the restaurant, food bill was not given to evade sales tax. The overall experience at the restaurant was forgettable, to say the least.

Best in Delhi

I think this was the best place I've been to in Delhi...this was my first visit to the saket area and went to spice market on my cuzzin's recommendation.

I loved the Pathar kebab, paneer bhare papad and tandoori pomfret for starters. We barely had any space left for the mains, but I just couldn't stop myself from having Laal Maas. I'd never had nethin like this before in Bombay or Delhi. It was tender, spicy and really well cooked.

For drinks, I had the Guava Ginger mojito and my friends had shikanji, beer and a fresh lime. Total we paid around 4k for 6 people.

Bliss!

I came to know about the place through burrp and for a long time I was looking for a place that serves good Indian food.

Right at the beginning, I came to know about the 10% discount that they provide to burrp-ers on reservations. I called the number they have provided. Unfortunately, it wasn't answered which I learnt later was because I was calling too early (10 am). I was all prepared to cancel my plan when I was surprised to hear my cell ring and the screen said " Spice Market Calling....". They had actually called me back ! :) I was very moved by this gesture.

When we reached there the simplicity and the coziness struck me. The staff was very warm and I felt comfortable throughout the meal. There were two of us and we went for the Express Buffet which includes (complimentary mocktail + food + dessert at 425/- plus taxes). The King Size buffet includes soups and appetizers for 525/- plus taxes.
The food....was amazing. We had Kolhapuri chicken, Mutton Rogan Josh, Gosht Biryani ,Paneer and Dal makhani and it was absolutely delectable. Infact we helped ourselves to 2 more servings of the chicken which is the best! The desserts included a choice of fruit custard and Phirni. Since I had done my research we ordered the Phirni which was "world -best".

In a nutshell, amazing service, great food, comfortably priced and promises a good time.
Definitely every Indian Food lover should go there and bless you Mr. Gulati :) Thanks.

Deliciously classy!!

I first tried Spice Market's food almost a year back at a friend's party where they were catering. Since then I've been a regular. I'm a big fan of their mutton. It's been over a dozen visits to the restaurant and each time I order Pathar Ke Kebab, Rajputana Sooley & Laal Maas. I think now most of the guys there know my order by heart. My friends seem to enjoy the Vegetarian fare too though I'm a strict Non-vegetarian!!! Besides, the service is really polite & to the point. They are attentive yet don't disturb the conversations. The decor is warm and welcoming. They have some ongoing deals on the bar like Buckets and Large Pegs. The only problem is it is a bit hard to find parking in the area.

Average Meal for Two - Arnd 2000 bucks with a drink each. It's a must visit for all Indian food lovers.

Not a Place for Vegetarians

We went to this place during navratre.
We ordered Kabab platter which was decent but overpriced.
Then we ordered shahi paneer and dal fry.
Shahi paneer was okayish, but dal fry was too salty and was too watery.
The naans were partly over cooked or burnt and the rest half cooked.
I complained to the waiter, who gave us a complimentary sweet dish and was apologetic.
There was a family sitting next to us, who were also not satisfied with the veg food.
So overall not a very good rating for veg food.

Had a great time

I've been to Spice Market 3-4 times and the place is neat! The ambiance is classy and music is very well arranged.

Try the Rajputana Sooley - a bit spicy but really tender and flavourful, Paneer Bhare Papad and Rajma ke Shammi. The laal maas wasnt as spicy as it usually is, but quite tender and aromatic.

I also liked the welcoming part of the dinner. We were served complimentaty Shikanji shots, followed by an assortment of papads, chutneys and pickles.

It is a convenient location if u are at the malls or pvr in saket. They accept reservations, which is convenient especially on weekends.

Though I haven't tried the main restaurant yet, I went for one of my friend's party in the lounge space. The kebabs were out of the world...amritsari jhinga, bhuna kukda and pathar kebab deserve special mention. Service was even better - prompt and courteous. I made a special request for my little daughter as the stuff was a bit spicy for her. The waiter got a small portion of malai tikka, so i was happy!

In the main course, I liked the Sukha Chicken and the Laal Maas. Though it wasnt as spicy as I thought, still quite tender and well cooked.

Among the drinks, I recommend the Guava Ginger Mojito and Raw Mango Margerita. Looking forward to a dining experience at Spice Market.

Kebabs to die for!!

I just saw a bar promotion of Spice Market on Burrp last weekend and decided to try it out with friends for a get together. I had heard about this place earlier as I'm a regular at their Gulati pandara rd, but never got to trying it.

We tried their non-veg platter with Pathar kebab, Mutton Sooley, Bhuna kukda and a tikka. It was deliciousss!! I'd never had anything else close to the Pathar kebab. It was like flat, really soft and grilled. I think we must have called for a repeat twice! The bhuna kukda was superb, well spiced and tender.
We just ended up ordering a dal and some breads with the 3rd platter as it was impossible to have any main course after so many kebabs...we also tried a makai seekh which was nice and soft...

As far as the drinks are concerned, they had nice pitchers. The price was like 2+1. A couple of my friends ordered the patiala pegs of scotch. It seemed great value for money. I think arnd 500 bucks for 75ml black dog.

All in all, it was outstanding and great valur for money!!!
Avg meal for two was arnd 1500 bucks without drinks...

BRILLIANT

well..to begin with the complementary shikanji was outstanding..a welcome drink that eased us in its first sip..the wide assortment of pickels, onions and papads gave a prelude to the outstanding meal that was about to come..started with hara tangri kebab..one of the best snacks..strongly recommended to all those carnivores out there...well I am a big fan of this place because of the Lal Maas and boy they cook it so well...the gatte ki sabzi was simply marvelous...so was the yakhni pulao..one of my vegetarian friend's ordered for rajma ke shammi..had never tried something so yummy and that too vegetarian..brilliantly done..and go for their dessert sampler..it has everything that you sweet tooth can ever crave for..
SUGGESTIONS: Open more outlets!!!
cheers

Great Place for Groups

We had organized the Christmas party of our office at Spice Market a couple of weeks ago. It was a great experience. We were provided with a private space with separate music.

They served us 10 kebabs including fish amritsari, chicken tikkas, pathar kebab and veg stuff. Soups were served in beautiful kullars, which I thought was quite smart. For the main course, there was a private buffet with a nice spread. Among the mains, Laal Maas, Chicken Lababdar, Paneer Tak-a-Tak and Gatta Curry stood out. For desserts, I liked the Kesar Phirni and Shrikhand the best.

All in all, we had a great time! The pricing was decent. We paid under 800 bucks a person. Good value!

Superb Night Buffet!!

This was our 3rd visit to spice market. I had recently seen a promotion of the new Night Buffet on burrp. The spread, as mentioned, sounded really unbelievable. We thought of trying it out for our couple kitty. Our experience was truly ecstatic!

Even though I had reviewed the restaurant earlier on my first visit, this was totally different. We started with a nice hot shorba...and then moved to the kebabs. There was so much that I can't even remember all what we ate. Amritsari Fish, Pathar ke kebab and Sarson ke Tikke were to die for. There was Peshawari Chaamp and Bhuna Kukda as well, both really nice and tender. There were as many options in veg as well. First time ever I had a Kachche kele ki tikki and Makai Seekh. Both were mouth-meltingly soft and flavorful. Even the Pili Mirch ka Paneer Tikka was stupendous!

We were really stuffed with the kebabs, so had a good 20 min break before heading for the main course. There were almost 9-10 kinds of curries including the Laal Maas, Butter chicken, Sukha Chicken, Paneer Lababdar, Sarson ka Saag and our favourite Gatte ki Subzi. They had both Dal Makhani and Yellow Dal. We also ordered some Gosht Biryani, which came fresh from the kitchen.

Then came the desserts. They sent us a platter of Phirni, Shahi Tukda, Gulab Jamun and Anaari Shrikhand. It was the perfect finish to an outstanding meal!

The buffet price is Rs 775 including taxes, though we had taken a package including drinks. I think they have a special discounted price of 675 on weekdays.

All in all, I thought it's a great option, specially for groups when you want to have a fixed price and not bother about ordering again n again. The food quality is marvelous and service polite.

Scrumptous Food with Excellent service

Just came back from Spice Market. We were four adults and took the Buffet which was priced at 525/- per head which is Quite reasonable. The place is done quite nicely and saw a lot of Firang enjoying Indian food.
We also ordered the amritsari fish which was really Juicy and also had a Non-veg platter with four variety of Kebabs .The pather ke Kebab was to die for and the Ghuloti was really splendid .As for the tandoori chicken it had a perfect blend of spices. Also worth mentioning is the Chetinad Biryani made freshly for the guest.the vegetarians would also love the Kache Kela ke Kebab , Corn Seekh , Hara Bhara Seekh. As I am a hard core Non - vegetarian but still enjoyed the veg starters. The Dessert were also mouth watering specially the Sri khand ,the phirni with gulukand on top was something new but WOW.I think people should go there once to Experience the food.

Great Food !

The place is nice. Though, they have stopped serving complementary "Shikanji", but still the "Shikanji" is worth every penny spent.

We were a bunch of 7 people + 2 kids and had ordered Veg dishes. All the dishes were well cooked and tasted awesome.

The only thing which needs correction is Service. I thought, they were under-staffed and it needs improvement. Even the cutlery needs some cleaning, cuz found some of of them dirty.
Had to order bottled water, thinking that the water was bad, but found that the glass was bad, cuz even after bottled water was poured in glass - it turned out to have suspended particles.

Over all, I would still refer this place to my friends for its finger licking food!

Best Laal Maas and kebabs...!

I tried this restaurant recently. The place was cozy, warm and not really uptight for a fine dining restaurant. We were warmly welcomed to a nice booth with cold towels, very refreshing in the delhi heat! Shortly, after we placed the order, the server brought some chilled shikanji shots (on the house) with assorted papads, chutneys and pickles....wow! We were simply shocked at the amount and variety of the complimentary stuff! The yoghurt dip was tooo good! Our soups & starters arrived at the same time...kesar murgh shorba stood out...we had ordered a non-veg platter, and the cool part was that they let us pick any four kebabs of our choice, contrary to standard statement heard at various places where the waiter would say “Sir variety Fix hai...change is not possible!”

Pathar kebab and rajputana sooley were simply marvellous! I had never tried such soft mutton tikkas before with such unique blend of spices the amritsari fish was nice and crisp loved having it with the yoghurt dip...!

Next came our main course...laal maas, chicken lababdar, urlai roast and gujarati kadhi. I have never tried something as divine as the laal maas....very spicy...though not as much as I was fearing it to be...but such tender pieces of meat outstanding flavours...never thought chilli could taste so good!!! Urlai roast was a refreshing change from the standard mughlai fare that paired with gujarati kadhi (this one could be better) and hot phulkas was super-delicious..!

We were told that all the mango beverages were being made with fresh mangoes these days so we thought of trying a couple of mocktails like mango lime breeze was like melted mango sorbet....mango mojito was quite nice with chunks of mangoes, a refreshing change and value for money as compared to the synthetic slurry that other restaurants usually serve.

We ended the meal with a dessert sampler which was a platter of mini desserts and loved the mango shrikhand and the gulkand phirni...!

In a nutshell, it was a great place and totally worth trying...especially for the kebabs, laal maas and fresh mocktails!
