Awesome Buffet !

Tulip - Green Park, located on Ameerpet road is a 24 hr coffee shop that serves buffets at all times. The moment you enter you can see this restaurant right in front of you. You are welcomed by the staff very warmly. The lobby is trendy and pleasant. But the sofas in the corridor are little out of sync with the whole environment.

It is a fine place for fine dining with a decent spread of Indian and international cuisine. Interiors are bright and stylishly done. You can have breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets throughout the week.

I had been here on couple of times for lunch and Dinner buffet; there have a wide choice of soups, salads, starters, main course dishes from various cuisines and a delicious selection of desserts. I liked their starters and Biryani; surprisingly Biryani was good (I don't say wonderful, but definitely better than paradise/bawarchi). There is a scope for improvement for better. Their service needs to be more prompt. They serve very slowly and lazily. I don't understand why but may be it's their USP haahaaa...... Their midnight Biryani was also not upto the mark with lots of bone pieces and you have to search for chicken and mutton pieces in the Biryani, hope the management take a note of this and improves it.

Tables and chairs are neat and tidy. Wash rooms are hygienically maintained. Parking is not an issue. Ambiance is good.

Hyderabadi Wednesday

Tulip is the coffee shop of Green Park Hotel, an open restaurant just behind the main lobby. Tulip has a concept of "Culinary Cascade" for its daily dinner. On a specific day of the week, a specific cuisine is showcased, like Chinese, North Indian, South Indian, Hyderabadi etc.

Wednesday is the day for Hyderabadi buffet. I was told that Wednesdays the rush is heavy as their Hyderabadi cuisine is really well-known, and if we do not go on time, we have to wait for around half and hour. I reached by 8:20 pm and was promptly seated. By 9 o'clock, I could see around 10-12 people waiting for a table.

I started the buffet with Chicken Shorba - a light chicken soup and Tawa Machhi Fry. The machhi fry was boneless and soft. The coating was thin and forced me to take a second helping. This in spite of the fact that in a buffet I try to limit my consumption of each dish in order to taste the maximum number of dishes.

Next was Mutton Haleem, a Green Park specialty (here haleem is served round the year in their Midnight buffet). The Haleem had the right blend of ingredients and ghee, and the right taste.

The main course had three types of biryanis - chicken, veg and kumbh (mushroom). Each had a different taste with different blend of spices. Among the other dishes which I savored with rotis were egg masala, nizami handi, gobi and a paneer dish.

The dessert section had a lot of sweets - I tried a strawberry based sweet and my favorite rasmalai. There is a special sweet platter on display in the hotel, which has specialty sweets which are not available throughout the year. Of these I tried a parwal ka meetha - a parwal stuffed with sandesh.

A value for money buffet. Will try their Chinese buffet soon, which is on Monday.
