Authentic bengali food

Located near the City Center 1 complex, this outlet offers good authentic Bengali food at somewhat slightly higher prices. 6 Ballygunge Place is known for it's authenticity in serving great food and this one does so nicely. The ambiance is quite cozy and suits the cuisine well. The staff service however could have been better to be honest. Overall, I had a nice experience and would like to visit sometime soon.

Lunch at ‘6 Ballygunge Place’

I visited '6 Ballygunge Place' to enjoy their Poila Baisakh celebrations. They have interesting theme, promoting artists along with their food. The walls of the restaurant have become a virtual art gallery with paintings by Himsikha, Shubla, Barsha and Sutapa. The Naba Barsho festival usually sees people from different places and ethnicities coming together, who have one thing in common: ‘Their love of great food!’.

As all of us know Naba Barsho is a special occasion and everyone wants to make sure that the lunch menu on Poila Baisakh day is simply grand and great. '6 Ballygunge Place' invites everyone to come and enjoy the ‘Poila Baisakh’ with their families, try out some new and delicious ethnic Bengali foods while making new friends and learning about Bengali cultures at the same time. The art exhibition is themed on Bengal related to Poila Baisakh makes the ambiance memorable. Poila Baisakh buffet menu contains ‘Koraisuti Paneer Chop’, ‘Kosha Aloo r Dum’, ‘Pur Bhora Potol Posto’, ‘Doi Echor’, ‘Pomfret Macher Paturi’, ‘Chingri Malai Curry’, ‘Murgir Kabab Nosi’ and ‘Dhakai Dum Mangso’. All served with ‘Radha Ballavi’, ‘Sada Bhat’ and ‘Subzi Pulao’.

Every item is delightful, mouth watering and delicious. Especially Doi Echor and Murgir Kabab Nosi touched my heart with their immutable taste, very very authentic. The soft succulent chicken pieces melted in my mouth and the flavour was just perfect. ‘Amm pora sorbot’ tastes really good, just perfect to beat the heat. ‘Patisapta’, ‘Kamalabhog’, ‘Butterscotch Sandesh Souffle’ and ‘Misti Doi’ tasted heavenly and definitely made lovely desserts to finish off the meal. My message for fellow foodies - ‘Come and let your taste buds go mad at the Poila Baisakh Food Festival in 6 Ballygunge Place’.

Pathetic Service...BEST AVOIDED

Walked in to the place in Salt Lake with family (Spouse and Kids) and 4 guests from Chennai; first timers in this part of the World wanting to taste Bengali Cuisine. Announced coupons (15% discount) beforehand. Food tasted good. When it was time to pay the bill, I am send a bill without the discount deducted. I am told that its too late and they need to close the hotel???? My bill amounted to roughly Rs 5000 and I lose a good 700 discount due to this. Spoke to the manager who sounded indifferent. These guys are only into big price menus and making money but not giving basic service. Best avoided. Gave a 1.0, would have given even lower for the service.

Serving really rich and sumptuous food, this place is a really nice place for family dinners, when one is in the mood for Indian food. It is a bit expensive, but is really worth it.

Love it this time around!

The Nolen Guruer Ice-cream: Oh my goodness…it was such a treat. The freshly served “Luchi”’s were typically delicious and wonderful to taste. The simple yet elegant menu was a real treat for the corporates celebrating their annual increment; not that it dented on our pockets on the same lines. Located close to City Center, it does provide the perfect Bengali ambiance to go in and savor the next couple of hours. The perfectly Bengali menu; in sync with the Bengali outlook paves the way for a brilliant weekday lunch. The “Posto” and “Daab Chingri”; the specials for the day were extremely enterprising. I guess the non-Bengali’s would get a feeler of the essence of being a Bongo foodie once you take a dip into 6 Ballygunge place’s well-thought of “gifts”…Treats you well. INR 400 (Inclusive of taxes) doesn't really sound expeditious, right?

The Saga redefined!

To be very honest, I wasn't aware of the fact that this esteemed charcuterie has extended it's services to Salt Lake as well, and no wonder, it's all about office and devouring for the next few days. Our team lunch was an exceptional one last Friday owing to the "Bengali food lover" boss who decided upon taking us to the BEST in town and 6 Ballygunge Place was his undoubted choice. Why not? When the food-junction allows you with every possible Bengali food including the sumptuous chingri macher malai curry and rosogollas, you got to lick you fingers at the very sighter! I couldn't just FINISH my meal off because the heavy dose of starters was just too much for me....so what are you waiting for ? A mere 750 for a couple is all that it takes to render grace! :)

Authentic bengali food and Great service

I have been to 6 Ballygunge Place thrice as of now. Found the food to be absolutely lip-smacking. I have tried some mocktails like Gondhoraj Ghol and Aamporar shorbot.. Amazing flavours in both of them!
Ordered Aam-aachari-chicken for starters, awesome aachar flavoured chicken strips.. gives you a pleasing kick before you induldge in trying out some savouries of Bengal..
From the a-la-carte we ordered rice, Moong Mohan, Posto-narkel bora, Bhetki Paturi, Chingri malakari, Bhapa ilish and Kosha mansgho. The Posto-narkel stuffing could have been a little more spicy. Flavours of authentic shonamug daal was simply delicious. Bhetki Paturi was just perfect. So was the Chingri malakari. The red gravy with flavours of coconut and prawn tasted awesome. Loved the Hilsha platter. The fish was of real good quality, cooked to perfection with very tasty mustard sauce gravy. In spite of not being an ardent mutton-lover, I loved the Kosha mangsho to its core, because of the super-tasty gravy and the super-softly cooked mutton. For dessert we had Aam Firni, which had a very nice mango flavour. They provided great service by suggesting some real good options like the Aam-aachari-chicken. The ambience, the service, etc were perfect.
I have also tried their Non-veg thali, which was equally good.

The buffet costed 550+tax per head and the ala-carte order costed 650+tax per head. Worth it!

Overall, always had a great an excellent dining experience at this place and will love to visit again.

Very very good dining experience

I went here with mum and it ws truly fabulous!..We ordered radhaballavi, dab chingri, paturi nd doi murgi..all of which were extremely well cooked and presented. The mocktails were very good too. The service was really pleasant, however the food took a bit of time to come.
Also, the building is a bit old and though refurnished very well, the occasional vibration when people walk past can get on your nerves, But overall, a very very good experience. Having stayed in london before, this came as a nice surprise to me...bengali food rocks!!

chor restaurant

We friends have gone to 6 bp salt lake yesterday.we were first timer in that restaurant. it is very sad to know that a reputed restaurant like 6 bp is doing dirty practice. food items are reasonably priced although there is nothing gr8 about the food. but be cautious about their special items not displayed in the menu card. there special menu dish like simple sarse ilish is priced exorbitantly high( more than 5 times than regular item) for a measly amount. and thats a steal. they will make a fool out of you. I strongly discourage everybody to go to that chor restaurant

If u r looking for a descent bengali cuisine near Saltlake City Center then u can try this place. I was much satisfied on my 1st visit to this restaurant. Food here is very tasty. Price is also not too expensive. Service is very cordial. Ambiance is also okay. Try their "Dab Chingri"...it's really good. Their mocktails are fine too. Damage for 2 was Rs. 800/- including tax.
