Lunch at ‘Blue And Beyond’

Blue & Beyond is a rooftop restaurant in Hotel Lindsay. It is situated at New Market and is one of the oldest heritage hotels of Calcutta. This restaurant has an open area along with the enclosed section. It is well known for its awesome scenic beauty along with enjoyable food/drinks. We went there yesterday afternoon to enjoy a quick lunch. Ambiance was really awesome and seating arrangements were comfortable.

We started with ‘Shirley Temple’ and ‘Blue Lagoon’ mocktails, both chilled & smooth, especially Shirley Temple. We finally decided our appetizer, starter, main course & dessert, staffs seems quite helpful. We had ‘Chicken Lemon Coriander’ as appetizer, which was perfectly warm, nice taste but I was expecting more fillings. Next we had ‘Chicken Reshmi Kebab’ as starter, when served it was looking awesome but tasted very ordinary.

For main course we had ‘Butter Naan’, ‘Dal Makhani’, ‘Kadhai Chicken’ & ‘Veg Pulao’. Butter naan and dal makhani was perfect, butter naan was soft and crispy and dal makhani also well cooked. Kadhai Chicken tasted average but chicken pieces they used were fresh and soft. Veg Pulao also nothing extraordinary. Dessert we opted for ‘Darsaan with Ice-Cream’ and we have no complain about it, perfectly made and really yummy. I think this is a great place for friends to have some drinks and order some things to share.

The only reason people hop in here is they can smoke while drinking.
Street foods are far better than Blu & Beyond.

Worth visiting, though service a bit poor...

Do visit this resto, at the top most floor of the Hotel Lindsay. Though you would be a bit disappointed, while reaching the main resto, as you have meander thorough a set of corridors before reaching the main door. But once you reach there, and if at all you manage to get hold of a seat at the edge of the terrace, then that's one place you can really spend hours out.

Food quality is good though options are bit limited. Wine costs are a bit steep, but that too is manageable given the ambience thats being provided. On a crowdy saturday evening you may find the service a bit on the slower side. But overall, a must go atleast once.

One of the Best Kept Secrets in Kolkata

Have you ever seen Kolkata from the lofty vantage point of nearly Ten Floors?

Dharmatala has always been the heart of the city, and there is a little hidden restaurant tucked away at the 10th floor of Hotel Lindsay where you can sit, have a drink, and watch the sun set over Kolkata. My favourite experience was on Diwali night, when I saw Kolkata burst into fireworks. Please try the Lat Mei Kai (Chicken) and the Daiquiris, which are potent. The place is very reasonably priced and is one of the best joints in Kolkata. Absolutely must-see.
