Truly Gujarati, Marathi... and Indian
Swati (Mumbai - Tardeo) the first of this chain restaurant has certainly remained an entirely Indian outlet improvising the items over the years but remaining truly a regional and authetic outlet.
At Swati, Law Garden the menu testifies to the wonderfuly deep and inclusive culinary traditions of Gujarat, unlike other places where the thali/snacks tends to be more Rajasthani in flavour. There are some bold dishes like the Panki and Fada ni Khichdi which are not served at any other locations. Do try these dishes with chatnis and marinated chillies.
There are some interesting Maharashtrian items like Thali Peeth, Saboo dana Khichdi which are worth trying. Also do not forget to try the Parsi vegetarian version of its Dhan - Shak. Amazingly the fare is very light (low on spice and oil) and one does not feel bloated after a meal.
While the decor is simple, I would certainly seek better cutlery and dishes. Keep up the good hygiene standards that you have maintained. We are looking forward to a long innings by Swati.
PS: Do not get disheartened by the waiting time (30 - 40 mins) This speaks for its popularity.

Only Food
The food, consistency, quality does not change & does not let you down. But the service & ambiance is like your yo yo that keeps going all over the place, which nobody seems to control.
A pity, but guess everyone still goes for the food..

Lack of Ambience!!
My recent visit to Swati was as usual a good one with nice food but they are not able to maintain the ambience neither the place in terms of maintenance.
There were lights which were not working, 3 huge Air con`s were kept which were looking out of place...
Took the waiter atleast 15 minutes to refill my water glass...
But rest all praises for its food, the consistentency doesnt change a single time. As usual the food arrival is fast and hot each time.
