The new breakfast menu is simple and effortlessly executed!

I loved the interesting varieties of eggs! They were perfectly executed and nothing you could go wrong with. Protein overdose indeed! Although I wish they would introduce healthy pancakes with buckwheat flour instead of unhealthy white flour and may be more detox juices!

Great Fondue

Cafe Mangii is another one of those specialist Italian restaurant which serve exquisite Italian food and take pride in the way of making their food. Their tagline also suggest wood fried pizzas. Their pizzas and pasta are amazing and they have a ti=hin crust option for almost all varieties of pizza. The good part is they have some very nice and innovative ice teas to go with the pizza. Very good find dining place..

Lovee this place!

The best Italian restaurant in Mumbai, we tried the Wood Fired pizzas which were so nice and crispy, pastas and and fondue were yum MUST must try I love it.. With alfresco seating under canopies of cloth outside and a cozy seating section inside, this place has a lot in store to enjoy. Known for having one of the best pizzas and fondues with lots of wine for a perfect casual dining experience also they have amazing selection of deserts.
Must try: Mezze Platter and Basil and Pine nuts Fondue.

so italian!!

By far the best Italian cuisine eatery that i've been to! I have been to Cafe Mangii on one evening just to share some Cheese Fondue with friends over conversations. But we ended up eating a lot more than what we had thought. The pizzas are just delicious, much better than what i've tasted at other places. Thin crust, perfect amount of toppings and cheese.. apart from the pizza, my favourite here is the New Zealand Lamb Chops. Not a very affordable dish, but the flavours are simply out of the world. Good music and ambiance to compliment the excellent food!

Great

Mangii was the first place i visited when i moved to Mumbai a few months ago. It wasn't just my first impression of the cafe but of the food in Mumbai. Great understated decor, attentive service and the nice gentle buzz of people enjoying their food. What strikes you as soon as you enter is this glorious smell of freshly baked bread and so much cheese :)

We had just walked in for a quick bite and the pick of what we ordered was the quattro formaggi, the 4 cheese pizza (that's why i've only managed to put up a partial :))

lovely place

One of my hubby’s favourite places, the ambiance is very nice and definitely a place you can take your date too! staff is very polite and I always feel as if I am somewhere out side India. I have only had a mediterranean pizza here and cheese fondue and they are both amazing preparations, made and served with love. This is one of topmost places any foodie in Mumbai must visit!

First Impression last forever

Cafe Mangii was the first restaurant I dined at post moving to Mumbai almost 5 years back and have continued to keep going back there. I have taken my family visiting us and friends on multiple occasions. This is by far one of my favourite restaurants in Mumbai and wrong on my part to write a review so late.

The location is perfect, staff is well trained & extremely polite, the ambiance sets the mood and the place is big enough to give a great feel. We have pretty much tried most of the items on the menu and highly recommend, wood-fired Pepperoni and Mediterranean pizza, Spaghetti Aglio Olio, Spaghetti Bolognaise, Herbed Chicken, Classic cheese fondue, and mustard marinated sea bass. At the bar, they have a great wine selection but we have always stuck to Sangria's which are really good.

Till date we haven't had a bad experience with food or service with them and must have been there a million times. It's simple when in doubt and want to eat some fabulous food just head to Cafe Mangii.

Overall, 9/10.

Good Place to Eat

Everytime i pass by from this place, i use to avoid it thinking it must be like the one at Vile Parle. But, my friend had some other opinion about this and told me to try it out once. So, me along with my friends visited this place. The place was dimly lit with two huge screens, one at the entrance and other at the back of the restaurant. The only good source of light was the screen. But, that isn't the problem, every pub or lounge is lit this way. To start of with, we ordered a beer tower. veg

Disappointing Experience

I have no issues dining at outlets with steep prices but they better live up to the billing.Well this is not the first time that we are visiting an expensive restaurant. But I realized that the reviews can sometimes be very misleading.

I had been waiting to visit this joint however the entire experience was soured by the way the food was prepared.

Cafe Mangi Review

Cafe Mangi has been our fav for a long time. With an excellent menu, starting with soup, followed by veg /non-veg starters – absolutely perfect Prawn Tempuras, Crab Cutlets & Herbed chicken, followed by Pizza and Pasta & Lasagna, they are good! They dish out the best chicken lasagna I have had in years. End it with Brownies, Tiramisu and Cheese Cake… Am in love with their baked cheese-cake with raspberry sauce..

what is the fuss all about ?

Mumbaikars today is just too spoiled for choice.Today we are one of the fastest growing economies and the global cuisine scene has diversified to such an extent that chicken Manchurian american chopsuey and butter chicken with butter naan face extinction . In such an era where restaurants are re-innovating their menus but the customer service has managed to spoil yet another evening of mine by visiting the much publicized and the much hyped "cafe mangii"
If your choosing to dine out tonight and cafe mangii is your short listed choice ..stop and read this unbiased review before you make your final choice. Cafe mangii is a quaint non descript cafe in a rather easily passable location of suburban mumbai. As soon as you enter the restaurant the dim lights and white chairs do give you a soothing feel but do remember to carry a torch with you as you cannot read the menu without straining your eyes. The usher could easily pass off as the owner as he behaved like one for sure . There seemed to be dubious deals happening that saw many a people jump the queue for a table . The menu I must admit is extensive and interestingly designed . However the food was a disappointment. We went with a standard order of Quattro formagi risotto...pretentious at best cooked with low grade rice as opposed to the original Arborio rice it should be cooked in at 650 rs net a portion I expect authenticity if not taste ...on being shown the same the waiter argued that it was indeed the rice I was talking about(although he couldn't even pronounce it right)...next up was a calzon verdure... prepared by a sous chef for sure...it had wheat flour all over the final product was a disaster at best the last that we could tolerate before we walked out was an jalapeno fondue that tasted like a kid got bored melted cheese with jalapenos and served it to you...cute yes..but not if you have to shell out 700 odd bucks for the same....all in all a place that needs improvement however I do appreciate their marketing head calling me up the next day apologizing for ruining my evening ...a sweet gesture ...maybe next time!!!!

Brilliant

we ordered a Mezzo platter for 2 and had an assorted platter with some beef cutlets, hummus, assorted bread, tahini butter and some pickled veggies etc. This was extremely yummy and filling. Too filling in fact coz we didn't eat much for the main course. More than enough for 2 as a starter.

Next we went in for a mushroom risotto which wasn't as good as the one we had a Pali Village cafe but it was 80% there. Creme brulee for dessert and they served us a complementary dessert as it was a promotion they were currently running. Both desserts were good. Although the creme brulee was extremely heavy and immediately settled in the tummy. Overall it was a great meal."

Fell in love upon my first visit!

It took me a while before I actually went to Cafe Mangii... It is an amazing place to enjoy with friends.

Some amazing food like the Harissa Chicken, and ending the meal with the chocolate fondue (to die for) was a lovely end to the night.

The ambience could be better, but had a great time anyway!

Not as good anymore

Been visiting this chain since the last few years, but now the quality is dropping on a quarterly basis. Last weekend a large group of friends visited the place and we found a stapler pin in our food. When we complained, all we got was a simple sorry. I was hoping they would give us some complimentary desserts or a happy discount to make up, but nothing. Also, a couple of months ago, in their new place in Juhu, Le Mangi, a dead worm was found in a vegetarian salad. The manager was told and all he could come up with, was a "sorry". So Sorry, Mr Manager, we will not be visiting anytime soon

Poor Service

I went with a friend to café Mangii on Monday and we ordered a pizza. Post eating the pizza, we ordered a burger. I noticed that on another table there was an offer calendar and I saw that on Monday's you could buy one and get another pizza free. We asked the waiter about the order she said that she would get back to us, which she never did. Then after we called the manager he told us that we couldn't avail the offer. The manager apologized for his staff for not getting back to us and said that we have so many offers we can't inform our patrons of each one.
Even the burger ordered was not made as requested. ( I had specifically asked for Only the Burger bun, The burger, lettuce and bacon) Nothing else.

I got the burger with mayo, which I am allergic to.

There was no apology here, the waiter said ..."you din't tell me" and didn't offer to replace it.

Overall a great evening marred by poor service.

I had a few questions:
1) We were still dining so we should have been eligible for the Pizza Monday offer.
2) Informing your customers about the offer of the day is your duty. OR you have a number of offers then you need to keep the Offer of the day visible. On our table the pizza Monday offer was not visible.
3) If you want to provide your customers exceptional service then you need to inform them if certain card have discounts. it's the least that you could do.

The response I would have expected : (great customer service)
From the Manager:
"I am sorry sir, the waiter didn't get back to you and inform you about the status of your request. So which pizza would you like to order as your free one. I'd just like to point out that since we have so many offers we find it hard to inform all our patrons about the various offers, however we will make sure that we display the offer of the day on every table. I hope you have a great meal"

Delicious Food with excellent ambience.

Cafe Mangii at Khar West is one of the best joints for Italian cuisine.
I went there with my fiance and we had the best time there. The ambience is very charming and romantic. They have these chandeliers all over the restaurant that gives a soothing glow.
The breads that they serve are so fresh & soft. They totally melt in our mouths.
They also have a good selection of wines.
Even the food is superb. We had pizzas, pastas and risotto. It was very good, very delicious and it tempts me to visit the place again & again every so often.
The prices are no doubt expensive. Hence avoid this place if price is a concern.
I definitely recommend this place for good Italian food in Khar-Bandra area.

Little Expensive but good!!

I went here last month on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Since my friend wasn't hungry we ordered pasta and coolers. The pasta was good..nothing extraordinary. Don't remember the name of the drinks but they were good too. The total bill was around 1200. Given that the place is in bandra linking road, this was expected. But the food quality could have been better as compared to what they charge.

Excellent pizza in a dull ambience

The pizza (we tried multiple varieties over a couple of visits)and risotto were both excellent. The cocktails left a lot to be desired. I was served a dated and flat sparkling wine in my Bellini which I asked to be changed. The staff changed it for me saying that they had opened a fresh bottle but it still was the same.
Most particularly, the ambience needs some buzz to it...it feels like a stuffy and dull place. Maybe a bit of music and spiffy staff would help liven up this place.

Fancy place serving good food

Yeah it is one of those few fancy places that actually serve tasty, quality food. Ive visited this place once or twice and being a pasta lover ended up ordering Italian everytime. And their sauces are just amazing.
Service was okay. Love the decor, the yellow lighting is decent and doesn't hurt or overdo the whole feel of the place.
Yes this cafe is a little pricey but totally worth it.

sorted tastebuds

I heard about this place and forced a colleague to come along.

Everything we had THIS TIME was very well crafted and made with the finest local ingredients. The prices were also very reasonable for this kind of quality and the portions were more than we needed.

The pasta e fagioli was made with assorted heirloom beans including scarlet red runner beans and the pasta was well crafted and al dente. The soup was made really well.

I had the chicken salad plate. The chicken salad was made with this really well developed dark meat chicken that was cooked so perfect it was a joy to eat. I think it had a little mustard and oil holding it together and it had tiny pieces of green apple and pecans though it making it tasty and delicious. I really enjoyed the vegetable salad on my plate. It was made with heirloom fancy red carrots and heirloom radishes , fresh crunchy cabbage , and parsnips. The vegetable salad seemed light and tasty. On the other end of my plate was fingerling potato salad. The potatoes were warm creamy texture and sort of mustardy.

definitely going again

Well few restaurants keep on adding some twist to their menus, Cafe mangi is one of them. The world Pizza festival was amazing, specially the Greek pizza (Disappointed as Tuesday offer could not be clubbed) . Their pastas and rissota are good but pizzas definitely better. However dint preferred their calzone (stuffed pizza). The sizzler festival post the world pizza fest is also worth noticing.

Good Italian food

Been here a few times and had a good experience on most of the occasions. usually I love the pizza here.
On my recent visit, we ordered the watermelon and feta salad. It was delicious but I think the pine nuts that should have been sprinkled, were substituted with melon seeds or something local, I'm not quiet sure what. But the cheese tasted fresh.
My friend ordered the Fried calamari and said it was alright. I am not a squid fan so I did not taste this dish.
Next we had spaghetti bolognaise and seafood risotto (for my friend)
The spaghetti was really nice and perfectly aldente.
The risotto was alright, way too much salt for my taste though.

Finally we ordered the best part of the meal, desserts!!
I had my favorite - the apple crumble and it was divine! and my friend ordered the fudge cake which was good too but we were so full that we could barely finish it.
But it was a pleasant meal and I will be back for more apple crumble for sure. Very few places in the city get apple-based desserts just right and Cafe Mangii is surely one of them.

Have been here n number of times and seen the place transform over the years.. to give a latest update on the place.. still love the food.. the pastas and wood fire oven pizzas are just out of the world. The place also has some real nice wine which goes well with the food.. The great part about the place is the customisation the chef can do for you.. however they have increased the seating in the same area.. leading to a lot of cacophony during peak hours over the weekend.. this has gone the powai mangii way in this respect.. however the food will keep pulling you back to the place

All-time Favorite Italian

I live a 2 minute walk away from this small cosy establishment. And have been visiting the place for over 3 years now.
It is hands down my favourite Italian place, and I have never been disappointed.
Food - Delicious, nice big portions and consistent!
Ambiance - can get noisy, but the dim-lighting and wooden furniture makes it a nice cosy place
Price - Reasonable for the food they serve and I consider it dirt cheap on their Vodafone Tuesdays.
Also great for midnight treats since post 11.30 is flat 50% off on everything (except Fridays and Saturdays)
And the lady welcoming you at the entrance is the sweetest thing, always pleasantly smiling.
I might be biased, but consistent yummy food for so many years is a rarity. Must-visit!

Amazing Pizza.Horrible sevice and manners

After people raved on how goof the good is I decided to check out the place. Didnt have a reservation so had to wait. The host told that it would take approximately 35-40 min. We had all the time in the world so had no issues waiting. 20 min into the wait a couple walks in and was greeted by the host. As soon as a table opened he seated them. Another couple who was waiting before us asked why they were seated before them. The host said that they had a reservation. We looked at the book and saw that there was no reservations for a party of two. After further questioning the host said that he was a regular there. The host didnt even apologize and went back to his job. When asked for the manager he said that the manager was busy and didnt have time to address the issue and that he was next in-charge. The other couple stormed off and we were seated a few minutes later. The food was excellent but never coming back here again.

Just another food joint

When Cafe Mangii reopened post renovation, I had high expectations from the place. Always known for their good quality food, my visit was surprisingly not what I had expected. Although the ambience, music and service is great, the food did not match the standards of a great restaurant. The pizza I ordered was just like any other average pizza at a small diner or cafe and did not provoke me to indulge myself much. Coupled with this, I also thought that the pricing was a bit much for the food I was served. I don't think I personally would make another trip there simply because of the variety of restaurants now in the city with far better quality offerings.

Discourteous, Mannerless and Insensitive

I didn't want to waste a single minute before I write this. I haven't had a chance to sample their food, but their service is numb, insensitive, rude and disgusting. If service matters to you, DO NOT GO.

My wife, 4 year old son and I walk into this place and ask for a table. The lady at the reception dutifully records our name and phone number which was not needed but a pesky, sms based CRM system demands it. We are pointed to a table under a low ceiling right at the entrance clearly not meant for humans. We decline and are then shown a two seater which they suggested could be modified to accommodate a child. We notice that 80% of the tables are unoccupied but reserved for people expected to come in "in 15 minutes". We still ask if we should wait or come after a while for a better table. We are told it might be very late. This is where the disgusting part of the evening happens.

Two young ladies walk in and a member of the staff rushes to receive them. In such a frenzy that he pushes my wife aside to get to them. It may not be as horrible a push as it sounds, but the lady felt it enough to complain about it. We believe people going to expensive restaurants at least expect decorum, if not decency. I ask the lady attending to us where the manager is. To my shock, the gent who pushed my wife aside was the manager. I walk over to him and thought I'd have a word about it. What I got was dismissal. "I didn't even notice her there. I haven't done anything.". By his time we were disgusted enough to leave. As we walk out, I ask him his name. His reluctance to name himself started turning into a full blown scene in his own restaurant. Peter, the name he gave away with much reluctance, constantly blamed the lady who received us for our discomfort, not understanding that not getting a decent table was the least of our concerns. Not a word of apology or acceptance. Complete denial and roughness in dealing with the situation.

We left mid conversation because the guests had started to notice and while Peter has no regard for his guests, we did. Thoroughly disgusted and regretful that such places still have clients. Or maybe we expect too much.

If the management of this restaurant is reading this, consider shutting your restaurant or sending your managers to an etiquette class before they face customers.

Prospective Patrons, I repeat. If service matters to you, please skip this place.

Mamma Mia ...

Café Mangii is home for us … whenever we get tired of cooking Italian food at home. The best we have had in Mumbai and we recommend to all. The chefs here are just perfect and we hope it stays that way… our favorite is Gnocchi for starters, made just perfectly in spinach sauce. The herbed chicken is also good … the calamari was a little disappointing. Main course is pasta for me, fusilli mama rosa or a customized variant made with exotic vegetables. My husband just loves the risotto here and the ham / bacon stuffed conchigue ciociara is an all time hit. The pizzas here are the best we have had in Mumbai though they sometime add too much of chilli oil. For deserts it has to be Cheesecakes ! The baked one is just amazing … followed by the blueberry version. Bon apetit

Ok Italian in powai

Cafe Mangii is a large, pleasant restaurant amongst a crop of places opening up in Powai. The food is like any of the other Manis really..well priced and pretty standardised. Teh menu is quite extensive and should be able to cater to most choices.
Their pizzas cooked right next to you in the open grill space are good. Their portions are usually great..their tenderloin, stuffed chicken and rawas a well worth a try.Their lasagna is good for two!
You will pay about Rs 2,5 k for a meal for two without alcohol.

Excellent Food

I took up this vodafone tuesday offer & visited Cafe Mangii Khar on last tuesday for dinner. I had been here previously & was not happy with the food. So... this time since we had a 50% off offer with us... we thought of giving one more try. And this time we were very happy. We ordered for one veg pizza.. i dont remember the name, this pizza had a pesto sauce as the base. We also ordered one Pasta Mamma Rosy & Potato Gnocchi with Spinach Sauce & Parmesan. My husband initially was reluctant to order the Gnocchi but i insisted... as i love Gnocchi's. After tasting the gnocchi...it was my husband who again repeated the same order.. It was very nice..soft pillowy potatoes, yummy spinach & the yum parmesan... we licked the sauce off the plate. The pasta was good too... it didnt look tasty appearance wise but after tasting it hesitantly...i gobbled up a few spoons. The pizza was decent...there was no salt...so it was kind of a bland... Overall a very nice experience which rubbed off our past memories. Narendra was very helpful. 2 Mains & 2 starters....& bill was 890/- ... thank vodafone for amazing offers.

Delay in Seating

We went today to Cafe Mangii. We reached at 8.35 pm and were promptly told to wait for 15 minutes. We had 2 kids with us, so we requested a quick seating. However, after 20 minutes, the receptionist kept requesting us to wait for "5 more minutes" until further 25 minutes. Finally we are allowed in @ 9.30 pm, after a wait of almost an hour.

The food was good. But we felt that the restaurant staff needs to estimate the wait period sensibly and inform the customer accordingly.

Disappointed

We decided to try Cafe Mangii based on Burrp write up about a month ago. I was very disappointed by both the quality of the food and the service. Our waiter would keep vanishing and other waiters would not respond to even a minor request for more water at the table. The Pastas were bland and overcooked. The Steak that my daughter ordered "medium rare" was practically raw and when she sent it back, what came back almost 45 mins later could have passed for a piece of charcoal. Pathetic place. Never going back.

Cockroach next to my plate.. Can you believe this?

I had been to this place yesterday i.e.10th July 2012 with two friends. We first ordered for some starters. After getting done with our first course, the person came to clear our plates. When he picked up my plate, there was a mid sized dead cockroach next to it. We don't know if it came from the plate, from the food, or was it stuck below the plate. But this shocking incident did happen and we couldn't believe what we saw.
I still kept my cool, coz I didn't want to spoil our evening. So I asked for the manager. Now hear this. The manager Never came! Some assistant manager came to me, apologized 4-5 times and then told me we'll get a 10% discount and one dessert free. I didn't say anything much coz I did not want to create ugly scenes. They also have the audacity to offer me a discount and complementary treats after this incident? And all this at an upmarket famous restaurant? Where the manager doesn't have time for customers who are served cockroaches as a side-dish? I'm going to see to it that they deal with the FDA next. I will see to it that these people get what they deserve

Review Title

After staying in Badra for past 1 year, I could not avoid visiting Mangii. On Entering the restaurant I found the interiors to be very very warm. Dim lighting and candle lit tables just increase the same many folds. Seating arrangement is well done and is also well spaced. Staff is cordial and attentive. Talking about food, Mangii is one restaurant in which a person has to be very particular while deciding on the order. This restaurant has some core offerings like Wood Fired Pizza and Fondue in which they just excel! I had Pizza Pepperoni, the crust was Roman style and was really thin. It had the smokiness which a wood fired pizza should have and It was just delicious. I also had Beef Steak which was not at all upto the standard. The taste was very average. Even the cutlery was not appropriate. I asked for a Well Done Steak but it was not at all so. Next time I visit Mangii I will be very selective and will not take any chance.

Noisy but great food

Don't expect to go there for a leisurely lunch on a Saturday and have an enjoyable experience. I was there last Saturday with a lady friend but all the romance got buried under the noise. The decibel level was so high that we couldn't hear ourselves talk. We ate quickly and were out of the restaurant within 45 minutes.

However, the food was excellent. Along with our fresh lime sodas and the complementary breads, we had cajun chicken as starters. Loved it. For the main course, we had stuffed chicken breasts, which were excellent. Enjoyed every bit of it. Decided not stay for desserts.

Service was quick. The persons attending to our table were friendly and helpful.

Didn't know they had a breakfast menu. Shall give it a try one of these days.

Avg food, atrocious dessert, sub-par service...

We decided to go there on a bustling Saturday evening, after checking out reviews and its locational advantage. We walk in and the ambiance seems petite but friendly...4 stars. We get a cozy table for two... all good thus far. Drinks - avg menu, and beware a lot of listed spirits are "list-only". No worries... Starters time...stale bread served with cheese poppers. We complain.. the dude insists (mark my words.. he insists), that it is fresh. We insist back and he microwaves them and puts them back on our plate. 3 stars....cheese poppers were average, no subtle or burgeoning flavor. We move on.. and wait the drinks never came and we had to yell again. Pasta time. Good Fusilli, good flavors, we stay put. Dessert time - we asked for specialty and we were advised warm brownie with a scoop of vanilla...was surprised since it is served almost everywhere..so how it differentiates Cafe Mangii. Anyway, we ordered, a loooong wait pervades, place begins to bustle, waiters rush past, we are completely ignored...along with some more of the tables. Dessert comes, cold and hard brownie. We complain, request warm - the waiter says -this is how it is. One star. We wait for the bill (loong wait again) and walk out with bitterness (and chewy aftereffects of brownie). Never go - Mumbai deserves better and we do tooo...

Extremely overpriced and miniscule portions!

I have never been to a restaurant with a better ambience but worse food quality. Everything we ordered was bland and whatever did happen to have a little flavor had tiny portions, so it was over before you'd even tasted it properly. The wood fired pizzas had unbelievably thin bases, making you feel like you were eating a nacho more than a pizza. And the bill!! Ooh, after the small dinner it turned out to be, we nearly fainted to see what we paid for nothing! Sheesh!

Great food but poor service

Last night I had dinner at the Khar Mangi. There is no doubt the food is great and I’ll only go back to that place for food. But the service is disappointing. I was given a table for two and I ordered soup first. The main plates were still there when the waiter served us the soup. He didn’t even make an effort to move the plates. He kept two bowls of soups on one side and left the table. We have to move our plates to one side and get the soup bowls in front of us. Later we ordered the Gnocchi. The spinach sauce was great but we could taste and smell the flour in the gnocchi.
We took time to finish the gnocchi as we were chatting.

A long time after finishing the gnocchi we ordered the main course. When we placed the order, the waiter picked up the dirty plates to clean the table for next course. But he consciously left the dirty forks so that we can use it later. The used forks were sticky and dry after eating gnocchi. The main course arrived after 20 mins and I had to ask for fresh pair of forks.

I also don’t like the new setup. The old one had a cozy and warm feeling. Now there are candles on each table but there are also bright lights all over the place.

Please go to the place to have good food but don’t expect to feel great with the service and ambience.

Pathetic service

Well, after hearing such rave reviews decided to try the place. And just as we settled and was checking out the place ordered iced tea. Noticed the bar tender lick the stirrer and stir the glass to be with the same!! Was I aghast or what!

The steward was apologetic on behalf of his colleague but the latter did not even have the decency to accept the mistake.

Don't think will ever go back!

Go at lunch time on weekday and will know what is 'pathetic' service.

One of my favourite restaurants in the city! The ambience is austere and neat quite suitable to an italian cafe. The average cost for a vegetarian meal for two (without alcohol) is around Rs. 1,500/-.

Kitty in Italy !!

Versova welcomes you Café Mangii. By far the best restaurant in the vicinity. A beautifully lit building that has become a landmark in Versova is definitely the most awaited and talked about Italian eatery here. Frequented by many celebs living around here.
I’ve been here with two different groups of friends for a kitty and everyone on the table was so excited as for a change there was so much on the menu for the vegetarians. Not just lip-smacking food and exotic wines , the soft music was blending in with the warm and intimate ambiance complimented perfectly by the nip in the air. Great food and great service together made our kitty lunch totally special.by the way, was delighted to take home a full jar of to die for Tiramisu
We ordered:
Starters- Potato gnocchi - in spinach sauce.
Classic cheese fondue
Main course - Lasagne - freshly baked
Champagne risotto
Margarita pizza
Al funghi pizza
Deserts: Warm fudge brownie with vanilla ice cream
Tiramisu
Baked Philadelphia cheese cake

cafe mangii @ versova

So much buzz about the new café mangii in Versova.. Finally got a chance to go there last night with my wife. Wow !! what a place it is.Looks fab inside out..I went there without a reservation on a Saturday night, was very politely informed by a staff that it was totally full and will have to wait for a bit. There’s was no way I was not going to wait , as my taste buds were already getting tickled by the aroma of some delicious food one of the waiters was taking upstairs.
While we were waiting ,we were shown around the huge place which is so tastefully done up.The ambiance is just fantastic. We were given a table on the terrace , man was it cold and windy. But Simply loved it !!
We started off with some red wine along with jalapeno & cheddar poppers and a portion of grilled herbed chicken. Followed by the chef suggested outstanding main course, Cajun chicken pizza with glazed onion and mushrooms, and a portion of pasta - penne romana in white cream sauce. The portion of which was good for 2. We ended up with the mind blowing Tiramisu. So important to finish up with the right deserts especially when your wife has a super sweet tooth.. Enjoyed everything the place, the food, the service-super!!
Will def suggest & go again for the delicious Italian delicacies and sinful desserts..

Favorite :)

Cafe Mangii is another gem in Mumbai's cafe scene.

The cafe was busy and so clearly popular with locals as well as tourists.

An old favourite of mine with a hugely diverse range of food to suit your mood. I actually have a soft spot for their desserts but they have an eclectic range of dishes from pizzas to scrambled eggs on toast.

Let me just say that I’ve just had some of the best lunch. Well, I had it yesterday but it was so good that I can still taste it.

Just go.

DISAPPOINTED!!!! Not worth Rating

Thanks to the not co-operative Manager and the staff, we went to Sanchos, where we had a great time.
Went on Wednesday (21 Dec) at around 9pm and it wasn't completely occupied. Being my anniversary, we requested for another table and the staff as well as the Manager blatantly refused (to the extent of being rude) and walked away to cater to other customer who had just entered. We had no choice but walk out and go to the ever welcoming Sanchos
After reading all the positive feedback about Café Mangii, we had decided to try it out for our anniversary but extremely disappointed.

Gr8 food. Will definitely come back

It was our first visit to this charming and cozy restaurant and we came back absolutely loving the entire experience. We absolutely loved the wood-fired pizza, one of the best I have ever had (was slightly bland but the chilly flakes did the trick)
The cream of exotic mushroom soup is simply out of this world. The char grilled raawas steak was equally amazing. Cafe Mangii offers a quiet setting for a evening meal with the family. We loved it and will come back for more!

Excellent!

Cafe Mangii is an excellent Italian restaurant. I've been there twice and absolutely love their wood fired pizzas, Al Funghi especially. this time around I also tried out the pasta and that was DELICIOUS as well. The place has a cozy ambiance and is perfect for those quiet dinners with family and friends. Though a little on the expensive side, it's definitely worth saving up your money and splurging here. Your taste-buds will love you for this!

Worth the visit !!!

Visited Mangii over the last weekend with couple of friends..was my first visit there..and came out smiling..enjoyable meal !! The 'cream of exotic mushroom' soup was just perfect..Would like to mention that the 'Fussili Mamma Rosa' was liked by all..However would suggest that they introduce whole wheat pasta as well just like the whole wheat base in the pizzas..Note the pizza could have been better..The waiter who was serving us seem to forget everything we asked for..however he was very warm, so that made up for the forgetfulness..all in one...
A relatively good experience..decent ambiance!! would like to visit the powai one in the near future..

We keep going back...

Just no reason not to go back again & again ...

The new format looks cool and the lively music makes it an enjoyable & informal experience that just feels great. The Regina Pizza has lost a little bit of strong flavour it used to have earlier ... but nice all the same.

The Risotto and Fusilli Mama Rossa was brilliant as always. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Special mention of their bartender who made a glass of 'Tori' (hope I got it correct) , a kind of hot cocktail for my wife who had a sore throat. She is sure that she will mention "sore throat" everytime she goes there for a repeat :-)

Keep the good thing going. A reasonable price for wines will be welcome ... the indian wines are too expensive for the glass (550 bucks !!!) Cheers !

Overpriced and pretentious "italian" wanna-be food

HI, I visited your restaurant with my family for the 3rd time - each time we visit we "hope" for better food, value or at least taste. Alas, looks like you have joined the fast-growing list of so-called Italian rip-off joints serving mediocre food at ridiculous prices. Your drinks have no consistency - e.g. every time we ordered the Spice Girl - first time it was good, next time it was not so good, and today it was icy, watery and diluted and tasted more like a Mojito - do you change your bar man every week? why should anyone return to your place for good food if each time is unpredictable?

There's no bruschetta on the menu - seems pretty basic for an Italian-boasting place. I was assured by the eager waiter that the "Crostini" is the same as bruschetta - uh, really? maybe for the once-a-year uninitiated customers you manage to fool with your fancy decor! Suggest Mr. Chaudhry invests in a meal in a genuine italian place, say like Don Giovanni to figure it out. The garlic and herbs crostini - needless to say - were dry, flavourless and cardboard-like - I mean could you have at least sprinkled a few drops of olive oil on it?
And finally I was shocked to see a common Aquafina (purified tap water by their own admission) of MRP Rs. 15 charged @ Rs. 120 ++ and listed as "mineral water"!! just who do you think you are guys - the Water Gods?

Average food and poor service

Ordered a pasta dish for home delivery and it came out almost double the price what the menucard said. The menucard said the dish had chicken and the actual dish did not. Abhishek, the manager, said the menu card changed and thus the difference, but management should account for these scenarios and at least offer a replacement for the intended meal.

Rs. 535 for a vegetarian pasta dish, with no update from the restaurant on the changes in the price/dish, and no courtesy replacement of the dish upon complaint = people who don't know how to run a decent restaurant. Sorry Mangii, but too much choice/competition out there for you to fool around with not keeping a customer satisfied. Haven't you ever heard of "The Customer is ALWAYS right?"

Great Italian Fare

I took my father here for lunch on his birthday. It was a great experience. We had the chicken risotto and creamy cheese thin crust pizza. The cocktails were mixed well and we ended up having a great time. If you have your pockets jingling with money, go here on a special occasion.

If not for burrp wouldnt be here !

Went here on Sunday for the burrp 5th birthday ( Thanks for inviting me). A few things that struck me and I didn't like at all were the air conditioning for such a small place was just too much and I'm down with a stiff back. There were just too many staff in fact on count would have been more than the guests, but yes they were helpful and always around. The other thing which I didn't like was the guy who was controlling the music since he didn't know when to lower it or increase it. Food less said the better, but as I said hadn't it been for burrp's birthday I wouldn't have visited this place.

Good Food , Good Ambiance, Good Music

Hello fellow burrpers , well I was one of the lucky ones to get a invite to burrp birthday bash today and omg what a experience it was ..... First of all I would like to point out the accurate landmark they have mentioned here I reached this place so easily thanks to the map and direction feature on this website....

So now to speak about Mangii its just awesome place for food lovers, I just loved the lighting at this place the whole golden feel inside was very nice and I dont know if anyone else has noticed this or not, the bunch of Light bulb that comes downs from ceiling looks so good... Now since it was a party the menu was pre decided but each and every item that was served was just brilliant and the staff was pretty decent.

It was just one of those days where I met some very interesting people , had good food and loved every bit of it.... Congratulations to Cafe Mangii on hosting the burrp birthday bash :)

Hands down the best pizza in and around Bandra

Had an amazing dinner at Cafe Mangii- starters, pizza, and dessert were incredible. I'm a big lover of Italian food and have high standards for it- this place is as authentic as you can get being 3500 miles from Italy. Flavors are indicative of quality ingredients and a deliberate and careful cooking style- I can't wait to go back for more. Truly a hidden gem in Khar West.

Welcome Back..Good show...

Just been passing from here and noticed the place is now open was been getting renovated . I've been here a couple of times and I usually walk out content with the excellent service which is unmatchable quality of food( the taste I can memorize …cos been so lovely)

Food:
In one word good food which was previously great . Called for my favorite pene ala romana and found mingled with recipe ; Why ?

Their bread quality and dessert availability I was disappointed. Somehow most of preparation and menu is the same and this menu looks tempting
Next was the Garlic bread with cheese. Tasted good, but was not toasted enough. The crispiness in the edges of the bread were sorely missing in the middle part of the garlic bread.
Guys please you need to act together for food quality and taste as it is not the same.
3 stars out of 5 for food

Service:
To be honest, service is unmatchable, excellent, attentive although they have new team members.
Was glad to see their Old manager who opened Powai .
5 stars out of 5 for service

Ambiance:
I love the decor of this place. The chairs are kinda comfortable and gave it café look , seating capacity is not reduced but very comfortable .

Place is more organized than previous and ambiance is enhanced …

Guys work little hard you will rock again.

I visited this place with a friend a couple of months back. The food was alright. But the waiters were so full of themselves, it just ruined the whole experience. Non consistent - Attitude

I went on last sunday .
Oh..... forgot to mention been visiting here almost thrice a month and I visited after two months.

I saw the quantity is reduced, taste is not consistent - not like previous.

Even the the waiters, captains are also changed .I did not found any old guys.

Later on asking I got the feedback that they have opened at Powai And most of the staff has moved to that place.

The most unpleasing part was after telling my experience to manager( Mr Allwyn,) and telling previous managers name he behaved in such manner that he is been doing favor on us .

I never expected this kind of attitude anywhere and I will not going to this place again.

Highly Over-rated

Visit: Sunday (10-Oct-2010) Dinner

The experience turned out to be an unpleasant surprise.

Dishes had:

Mushroom Cream Soup - Portions were very inadequate.. there was a bland plastic taste to the soup. poorly made and tasted like heated in a microwave..

zucchini starters - a few cold slices of zucchini interpersed with some particles in the name of flavoring.. they could have applied their mind and put their soul into it.. disappointing

Pizza - the waiter outright refused to give us half and half options !! The manager intervened to a truce, provided the sauce base was common on both the half-sides !! so bizarre..
They claim its 12 inches.. it came to about 10 inches.. the marriage of the sauce and the toppings were imperfect at its best.. the hype about the wood fired pizzas at mangii will forever be a hype.

Indigo Deli at Palladium still retains its numero uno status for Pizza in Mumbai !!

Lastly, (we were craving to get out) we had a roasted aubergine slices rolls stuffed with dull cottage cheese.. This is a great dish to eat provided some nice flavor is imparted to the fillings.. Sans this, eating this dish was short of a punishment..

The bill came to about 1300 bucks.. the menu prices are inclusive of all 8% service charge.. TOTALLY undeserving.. considering the orange t-shirts (waiters uniform at mangii that night) were just either gliding aimlessly or huddled at a corner gossipping.. CUSTOMER ORIENTATION at its Nadir..

But this place will survive as an "also-ran" as long as those youngsters come to this place as a chill-out joint..

If tMangii thinks that Italian food is all about taste-less-ness and TOTAL blandness, then they need to introspect..

This place is an affront to italian food.. especially pizza..

Not visiting this place again.

Must Visit - Consider Suggestion To Enjoy More

I H'd read the some reviews after I wrote this review , and was Felt somewhat what are the expectation from this relatively one year restaurant.
However, it was enough in exploring this place just to find is it really the same place my friends recommended and They told that they enjoyed very much there.
I were successful at finding the place.
It was a Friday night and we'd not made a reservation

The place was full,But We have been Welcomed with Warm Gesture and been Escorted to the table And I impressed Been Asked Are You Comfortable?

The place was very dimly lit by what appeared to be Different style lamps, Said lamps made reading the menu no easy task. Perhaps they should offer the menu in Braille instead?

Bar: Take note: All spirits of any kind (standard Selection) are available here. That said there were plenty of wines to choose – many by the glass – and a veritable overload of Indian wines, which was good to see.
The service was crisp and attentive. The recommendations were good too because What he suggested We enjoyed like caesar salad , Herbed chicken Roll, Philadelphia Roll, Prawn Butter Garlic, Bay Steak , Capriciosa Pizza.
We started with chicken Caesar salad everything was Ok But lacked Anchovy flavor .
The Mangii Chicken stuffing was gone little bad as my friend commented since he tried last time.Ordered Lamb Chops Both were having very Less Meat And It was little underdone But rather than complaining We finished since We wanted to catch Movie.

An 8% service charge was included so I was not tempted to leave another tip on top of this but still I loved service and My mind forced me to leave 5% of tips.
However for what we paid it was good value since Menu Prices was reasonable with service included but We would have enjoyed more if they would have maintained consistency.

Finally, as for the décor, it is perhaps best described warm ,cozy, chic,
beautiful but leaking air conditioning and noising door catches attention,

Overall Mangii deserves a good 4* rating. Its menu is sufficiently different, the wait staff know what they are talking about, the wine list is one of the best I’ve seen in terms of depth and price, and the overall experience will be looked forward to repeating again very soon. Maybe by making a reservation next time too.

Not really Impressed

To start with, hats off to the decorator / designer, you actually feel like very small place with limited resources could be such beautiful with simple things like coasters , wall bracket lamps, lamp shade, test tubes with Chinese bamboo , porcelain buttons and brass tap in loo and unisex reflected with man woman symbol could make the place so cozy and comfortable look .
However, one bite of the food, and you're in for a surprise (not the taste you expected as compared and as the reviews are written)
FOOD 2/5:
It was awful! I sincerely hope that this place has got good reviews of food in the past should have with some decent food. I'm not asking for extremely good same manner in Italy I agree the limitation in Authentic , but at least meet some level of mediocre expectations, especially when same restaurant owners partly belong The famous restaurant at Juhu Mangii Ferra . Waiter recommended Gnochi Patata which was just ok. Prawn Butter Garlic was had overdose of Balsamic ( could have just used to decorate the plate not the prawn) Mama Rosa the most basic Italian Should not go wrong as this is available in Any Multi cuisine Restaurant was not upto par.
Other dishes lacked flavour and are not worth mentioning. Preferably Mangii Ferra Juhu did not revised their Menu but maintained their consistency in short not mingled with their Receipes.
Must go for the cocktails, they were really knocking, had a bottle of wine also, which was much cheaper compare to any other this class of restaurant
Service 5/5:
Service is Effiecint ,attentive , their dealing with customer is Polite, crisp and most polished and customer oriented I will not expect more than this because the simple and basic funda they know very well .
Overall, it was a poor experience and being that the place is very expensive, it really doesn't cut it since The food bill I paid for was not worth to it .
I would think, that a new restaurant menu with a notable chef ( I think they do not have) would ensure that the food would be the star attraction of the menu , and dishes will be executed in right manner ,but that's not the case here. Good luck to the new menu, but seriously, please fix the food!

Having read favorable reviews, we decided to celebrate our friend's birthday at Cafe Mangii on a weekday!

Although the food was good, the service was absolutely awful! We almost had to stand up every time to get the servers' attention. In spite of the restaurant being well staffed on a not so busy evening, the staff was absolutely clueless!

Service leaves a lot to the imagination

The food is good here, I'll admit that. But everything else - the size, ambiance and especially the service, are downright average. After we were seated, they only gave us 1 menu between 4 people. Then there was a 45 minute wait for the order to be taken! After the food was served, they completely forgot about us. No water refills, no asking if we want anything else, no dessert menu...no one even stopped by to clear the plates till we asked them to. For a restaurant so small that sitting at one end, you can see everything that's there on the plate of a patron at the other end, there is really no excuse for this uncaring attitude. To top it off, they added a 10% service tax to the bill..whatever for???

Expensive but yummy food

We went yesterday for lunch to Cafe Mangii. Its a decent sizeish joint off 14th Road Khar. Lovely lovely ambience to start off with- dim lights - would be perfect for a romantic dinner. Note: They serve Italian food and play S.American music. But it fits so it be all good.

Its breads on the house - a tradition I totally love. The bread was v nice but not warm unlike Five in Santacruz. We ordered the Beef Carpaccio, Herbed Chicken from the Antipasti and a Pepperoni Pizza. The beef was tender and soft, the pesto and mayo combo on the dip for the chicken was utterly delightful and the Pepperoni was yum yum.

For dessert and coffee, we had a Latte, an Americano (where my friend wanted a cup of black coffee) and a Darjeeling chai. Oh their menu spells Earl Grey as Early Grey :):) Oooh almost forgot the Tiramisu - utterly divine. I mean soooooo yummy and creamy...not life changing though :)

Damages came to 600 bucks per head so am bound to call this an expensive place. But v v lovely food so please do visit.

Best Pizza's

I went for dinner with my wife last night at this place.

Abt d place: - The place is a small joint in khar on 14th road...Its a conjusted place with tables too close to each other. The place is quite clean. They have an open kitchen for making pizza's...that's the best part abt dis place...

Abt d food: - We ordered a starter...sum zucchini based dish...it was not that good...The quantity was very less and moreover it was pricey.
We ordered 2 mocktails which were very good....1 was kiwi n peach based and other ginger n lime based....
We were very hungry so v decided 2 go 4 a pizza each...
The pizzas were amazing...thin crust,good toppings,nice aroma...
The usp for me is d pizza's out here...it beats all d top pizza parlours 4 its pizza's...
v r going back soon 4 their pizza....

Abt d service n price: - The service out here is good...Very attentive staff...The damages for all dis were 1.1k...
But its worth every buck....(- d zucchini starter)...rest is all fine...
V luv dis place.

Perfecto Italiano!!

I went to Mangii cafe last night with pals... whole restaurant was packed being a Wednesday night. and soon i realized why...

Well to start with the menu was awesome with the biggest variety i've ever seen in italian food!! we settled for their special Wood Fire pizza which was made right before the eyes in a clay oven. It was thin and deliciousssss cheesy! Then we had exotic entrees like fusilli mama rosa pasta, roast chicken in mushroom sauce and fresh salmon stuffed with smoked cheese. Well the drinks were not stiff enough and Caprioska had bitter mint leaves. Plus the service was slow and confused. But I'll give it 4 on 5 coz I really loved the food.

I'm loving it

Mangii always been a family favorite of ours. Convenient location, god food and the efficient service for an enjoyable evening.

We were pleasantly surprised yet again this time when I noticed the ambiance is enhanced.

We had our staples - carpaccio (absolutely delicious), a lobster thermidor (a bit bland, but meant to be that way I suppose), lavender steak (disappointing not like last time in terms of pepper content level and I requested medium done but Received well done)

We'll continue to be regulars here as long as the service stay consistent.

Personally, I judge a restaurant by how well they maintain the quality, quantity, hospitality compare to the prices and these guys are doing a good job.

Moving on to the service now. There was a five minute waiting for a table but they didnt leave us hanging outside the door but instead took us in and offered us a good place to sit at their bar and friendly bartender suggested us good drinks which we enjoyed and I admit he is highly talented , the drink , the presentation was very exotic and unique.I like their willingness to serve ( Indian style service ) since we like to share our food.

Food, they have an Italian menu but not quiet up to the mark. Dessert has got limited varieties but good their bread quality is not acceptable .
I will avoid to come on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday since I avoid non veg and they have limited egg less desserts.

So the food didn't really matter to me if I am treated with some recognition , respect and I am happy with that part in cafe mangii

Ok Ok Ok

Honestly, I didn't decided to go to cafe mangii yesterday.
Just because of very good experience on Friday with them I been there with my friend.

The hospitality was always been superlative at cafe mangii(my couple of experience) and this was no exception. We were just the two of us but was not comfortable with their table in front of bar (it is too small for one person) were given a 4-seater as we requested on busy saturday.
The ambiance was elegant, dimly lit up but cooling was horrible I guess they have air cooler .

Firstly, the water Himalayan tasted funny obviously they should go for some other brand and we had to have regular water I'd recommend that you do so too. Our order read like this...
Tarapacca Chillean Wine by glass
Cajun Chicken
Spaghetti Ala romana
Pene Arabita
Seasonal Mango
The cajun Chicken was a terrible disappointment for the oil content. All starter are expensive for Tiny Portions I would've appreciated larger portions.
The ala romana was good was ok good and decent portions but not as the taste I had just a day before ( just changing a shape of pasta changes the taste so drastilcally)
Their seasonal mango was sour .And It was too delayed.
But they conveyed that it will take some time.
Service was efficient and I felt pampered by service I have been offered heated bread basket and the oil balsamic dip which killed waiting too long.
Overall the experience was good because of service.

Good Hospitality But No Consistency in Food

I Visited This Place Thrice Till Last Saturday Within Months Time.

Ambiance is Good Ok But They need seriously maintain the property you can find dusty walls, noising main door , very tough wash room door unclean fish tank.

There Menu is gastronomically sound has enough menu options they have tent card has got seasonal menu options its very good. Their Kairi Panna Is excellent I never had this kind of good Panna.
They do not have consistency in food I had Risotto Champagne which was very good first time second time it was too dark( melody of Blend or quality of porcini mushroom may not be balanced) , third time the champagne flavor was missing. This is with another dish also that was Fusili Mama Rosa ( the pink colour of sauce is always in different shade I had twice) and the second time the fusili was broken ( Not excusable either they must know the degree of cooking pasta and they should change the quality and brand of pasta and if both are in process they should make it unavailable than to serve )
Same case with their Cream brulee The caramelized flavor of sugar is missing next time.
Service is good . The team knows the balance of teamwork( no one said me that your section staff will assist you whatever I required was been provided and clarified with the queries immediately then and there. They have very good technique when my friend asked whether the rawas is fresh or not I liked the way he replied" Mam My Chef Daily Goes to Market in the Morning to select Fish " The very first time When One of us asked for a very different combination ( food modification) Guy said Sir I shall I First confirm with the chef to check whether he can make and will it go well. The third time We were through with our wine of bottle which was imported and we were not willing to order another bottle and still My wife was having steak the person asked We have another wine available which will go well with your steak by glass and that wine was very good.Hats off guys on your techniques. They have good timing also bread was always before soup and main cource plates were changed pepper was always served with my carpachio .
And most Important they rectified the food .But it should be perfect the way it should be than to rectify.
Overall they should understand the guest needs and to be consistent to survive in the mushrooming culture of restaurant
and to grow up as brand.

Nice Place..... Decent Food

The place is done up welll.... Give the customer a warm feeling to be eating there......

We called for 3 appetizers, the crispy calamari, the caprese salad and the cajun chicken.......

The caprese salad we sent back after taking a bite cause the cheese didn't taste right and was too tough.... more like paneer.....

The crispy calamari was decent... a little over cooked... which made the calamari chewy......

The cajun chicken appetizer was some thing you would find at an asian restaurant.... more like an italian chinese fusion of szechwan chicken...... but tasted nice.....

for main course we got the peperoni pizza...... which i must say was vey good.... thin and crispy with the right amount of sauce and cheese.......

the service is friendly and helpful.....

overall a good experience.....

Overall Good

Our visit to this was a pleasant one. We had visited cafe mangii's six months ago and after that on 16/4
My friends both liked the Fried Calamari appetizer better than I did. Definitely a portion was not large enough for two to share. I enjoyed the Pizza there.

The entrees at cafe mangii were the highlight of the meal. The crustation platter was wonderful, too huge to finish.
Although I love the food, I'd go back for this entree again. The rawas in home made harissa was also a hit, although my eating companion snagged some of my vegetables to go with it.

Here's a warning about cafe mangii as of this writing it is incomplete (where's the dinner menu?) and the prices are out of date. They are all higher now. They just updated by putting a sticker of 15 percent hike that is hardly any one can notice.

cafe mangii gets high ratings for their Alphonso cheese cake--we tried a sample and it was excellent. We were just too full to order dessert!

We'll be going back to cafe mangii again, and we're looking forward to it.

Buon posto per appendere fuori 4.5/5

We are group in which I am the only Indian we visit this place whenever We have a craving for good food and good service and they never fail to deliver to our expectation in friendly atmosphere!! We visited on last saturday.
The ambience gives relaxing feel. But it’s noisy since the place does not have height, carpet, curtains which could absorb the noise if they could work on certain extent we will enjoy more.
Prices are here slightly high as one would expect but go out portions and great quality ensures that you get your money's worth. So should take always server’s help while ordering
We were group of 20 and every one in our group has gone for one specific drink , one starter , one main course.
We got our order what we ordered without any mistake the person serving us was quite efficient in taking our order , giving suggestions, repeating drink ,serving correctly person wise, and even was ready to give split bill.
Food was ok but it was sent hastily to our table few of us were not been able to enjoy after We complained server was kind enough empathize and ready to take back and serve when we want but we didn’t sent back same time he promise us that he will ensure it will not happen in future.
Overall it was good experience.
Go visit Café Mangii, chances are you'll fall in love with it.

Good Service......

Khar and bandra has got many Italian Food Lovers and Cafe Mangii Seves Italian Food.
Ambience: The Air Conditioning was Not up to the mark.Set Up was cosy.
Food: A starter of a gnochi and a Portion of Chicken Dumpling and Brocolli soup was pleasant, though the soup was rather too thick in texture (making it hard to drink) while the gnochi Patata seemed to me Cold From inside (3/10).
I had roasted Mushroom also as a starter found small stone(1/10).

Main cource I Had Pizza that was capriciosa was amazing(10/10)
I Had great Tiramisu Here. And The cheese Cake which was awesome.
Service was very nice, polite, friendly . In fact I enjoyed the service ( Ever Smiling, suggestive, rectifying the problem in time, freshly serving of crushed pepper corns,Refreshing the cutlery and plates in time)
I will give one more chance due to good service.

Just Don't Get It....

I went once and thought the place was very average but seeing soo many good reviews I decided to give it another shot. Went just in time for the last order on Sunday.

I think its just me but I just don't get the attraction. Granted the pizzas are good but that's about it. There isn't much of an ambiance to speak of. Its small with too many tables and is the last place for a romantic dinner.

Food: Ordered a margherita pizza and pasta in pesto. The meal got off to a great start with the smell of fresh pizza wafting. The flavour didn't disappoint either. The pasta was very average and nothing to write home about. I think a place of this caliber should atleast have herbed butter if not any other dips with the bread basket and not just small buns and butter. Just shows lack of effort.

Service: Was efficient but nothing extraordinary.

Damages: Rs 750 for a pizza and pasta including a 20% discount.

I found the place very average and there are better places I'd prefer to go to.

What went wrong??

Well, finally I made it. I had been planning to go to Cafe Mangii (A "cool" cafe from the people behind Mangii Ferra - one of my favourite Italian joints in the vicinity), but just couldn't get there. This time we planned it in advance and decided to go there for a weekend lunch.

They don't answer the phones, so booking might be an issue! It's also not that easy to find - it's just off Khar linking road in the lane between Citywalk and Nike.... on the corner of 14th road. As soon as I entered, I heard noise... a little too much for my taste. Since there are no carpets or curtains, nothing absorbs the sound - and the tables are really close to each other (their definition is "cosy") - so don't be discussing private matters here :).

The service isn't great - our order was forgotten twice. There was one very helpful guy (Rajesh) who did his best to improve things and make us feel comfortable. We started with the mocktails - tried 3-4 of them, quite good. Then on to the starters. We had three starters - Gnocchi Patata, Prawn Tempura, Garlic Bread. The Prawn Tempura wasn't great - prawns were not marinated at all, and the crust was bad tasting. The dip wasn't bad. The Gnocchi Patata - what can I say.... it was CHILLED at the bottom and warm at the top??? Turns out the people keep some of the stuff refrigerated and just warm it up - whoopsy! They did change it, but the damage was done. The garlic bread wasn't half bad - though a bit too crispy for my taste.

By this time we were contemplating whether to risk the main course or not. We decided to give them another chance and ordered the much-recommended wood-fired Pizza. We chose the Pizza Con Pollo (The waiter pronounced it as POLO - not a great sign). Quite disappointing really. The thin crust was soggy, and the toppings not great (Overcooked onions, crap tasting chicken, etc). We gave up after two slices! Asked for the dessert menu to be told that only 4 of the items were available, so we decided to go for the coffees. And lo and behold they forgot our order - Rajesh came to our rescue again, ever smiling! Coffee was ok, nothing to write home about.

I cannot understand how they got it so wrong? Maybe it was a bad day! As I always try places out twice - I will give this a chance in the near future, but going by current quality - I wouldn't recommend it

Honey I shrunk the Fillings!

Celebrated my S-I-L's Birthday at Cafe Mangi at Bandra with a bunch of Friends. Along with a whole list of items we ordered, the Pizza Solstice (with Sausage and Feta Cheese) came with pieces of Sausage that one would have to hunt with a Microscope. On enquiring, the Manager mentioned that the Sausage was over and that was the last half that the Chef used. Is that my Problem?? The Manager was kind to apologise and offered a Free Dessert (the Best way to solve a Guest Complaint) but we politely declined. The same was brought to the notice of the Chef.
They have increased the Menu prices by 15% (on the already high priced Menu). Definately not worth paying 550 bucks for a Flour base with a rub of sauce and cheese, the fillings were missing!

Lovely quaint place ...

Had a little difficult time finding this place but was worth it ... amongst its peers in Bandra, this is probably the best.

Has a good wine collection ... we ordered 2 starters and the prawn one was excellent. Herbed chicken was also great ... My criteria is how they make Risotto and they passed in flying colors. As good as Out of the Blues, my favorite. The pasta was fantastic (as per my wife) and so was the pizza that we packed for home.

Only dissapointment was that they did not have Tiramisu ! Sacriledge as per my better half for whom a good Tiramisu is the decider. Overall excellent, would be back

Fantastic Food, Service & Setup

Perfect place to take your girlfriend for the first time, or perfect end to an anniversary celebration. Well priced for the quality of food and service provided.

Must Eat:
Herbed Chicken - Appetizer, chicken as soft as cotton
Fish with Harissa sauce - Fish also softer than cotton
Risotto is to die for..must try the Chef's special, Champage Risotto. Mushrooms add a zing to it, although I preferred it without the mushrooms. They were very cooperative to changes or customize the meal apart from the menu. Nice cozy restaurant, not five star setup but better due to the service and warm nature of the service staff. Some interesting champagne cocktails

A good tip: don't stuff yourself in the food, they have a large variety of after dinner coffees, liquors and desserts, which are not often available!

lets have some more space pls

not a bad place at all... cosy and warm... but does tether a lil close towards being cramped...
the food's not too bad, but not too great either:
- the herbed chicken is amazing,
- but the Mangii chicken is served with a ridiculous sauce that it could really do without,
- the drinks menu is disappointingly limited and the drinks are due a miss...(suggest u stick to ur diet coke and ice here)
- however, the banana caramel tart is ........ heavenly... the goey caramel and fresh banana taste lingers and keeps u asking for more...

service is very polite and hospitable, but it would be ideal if the space permitted the staff to stop looking like a crowd...

One of the Best Places for Italian food

Been to Mangii. I should say that their pizzas and pastas are amongst the best I had ever.
Another thing which is worth mentioning is the Service. Its excellent. Our Pasta was served in less than 10 mins on a pack Saturday night. Even waiters are very polite and ready to help with different options.
It's expensive but its worth.
Book your table in advance especially during weekends otherwise you may face disappointment.

Great Pizzas & Some Good Pasta

Firstly, this is a popular place in a relatively small location,,, there may be at most some 6 tables.... so as the other reviewers have said on this page,,,, book in advance ,,, they have two sittings one at 8.30pm and the other at 10.30 where they take reservations,,,,, another word of caution be prepared for the lady managing the desk to tell you its full 8 times outta ten........;0)

If you do manage a table here like we did last nite coming all the way from town,,,,,,,This place is great for Fresh... Oven Baked,,,Thin Crust Pizzas .. non veg options include the famous pepporoni and veggies would like the fungi pizza and the traditional magarita......
There are some good rissoto options but the champagne rissoto is good albeit the tast of any champagne eludes your taste buds
For Non Veggies theres the prawn pasta with rissoto which was excellent in taste and for meat lovers theres the shell pasta with bacon, ham and sausages
Another word of caution although this is a good place to chill with friends any order of Alchohol will add to your bill in multiple ,,,, min order from the bar is around 300 Rs (a beer pint costs 350) and honestly the bar is kinda inconsistent with the cocktails,,, for eg my wife ordered a strawberry margarita and there wasnt any alcohol in it??? or barely any??
Also dont go expecting great service ......but overall just the food makes it worth while

Overhyped - Avoid on Weekend Nights

After having read and heard much about Cafe Mangii and carrying the high expectations set by Mangiferra - we finally got to dinner on a Sunday night at this Italian joint.
Firstly, the place is very small and it looks so cramped with the tables covering more than 95% of the floor. I was seated on a table of 2 which was so close to the adjacent table, that the server couldnt manage to serve through the gap between the tables --- who calls this a romantic ambiance???
I moved ahead in this over crowded juncture - but i was so disgusted with the decibel level. It was so loud in there (no exaggeration) that i literally had to be 'loud' while talking to my wife across the table!..same problem while getting the servers attention. So for ambiance i give 0 on 5..its got nothing...from flooring to the decor.
Now for the service - is it odd for your server changes at every different order you make? If not, I can live with this but the fact when the first server was taking the order for a casear salad & when we asked him on what veggies come along - he responds lettuce..responds the same when asked differently - on veggies (as written on the menu) come along with the greens? - he answers lettuce! Another server came by and gave us the answer -- red pepper, olives, etc. Phew!
Finally, the food - it wont disappoint but wont leave you with a wow factor for sure. Minestrone soup was great, Ceasear salad was average and the Milano pizza although was good - would fall behind Mangi ferra's pizza or other few places in the city.
Not sure if i'l mark this place as VFM. With no alcohol, dinner for 2 ticked us 1000 bucks. I wont claim this to be expensive but wont consider much value in average-just good food in a place that redefines NOISE/CHAOS in what is marketed as a cosy/romatic/italian eatery.

Mangiare @ Mangii

I last reviewed this place on 14 June when the service turned out to be more exciting than the opera. I'm pleased to report that since then, Cafe Mangii seems to have got its act together.

I went there last week to celebrate a friend's birthday. The place was empty when we arrived at around 8pm, and so we had the pick of the place when it came to tables.

I got nervous as soon as I saw the flock of waiting staff start jiggling into action (see last review). However, things were calmer this time around. Much calmer: The staff knew what they were doing, the service was paced (and drama-free), the recommendations good, and the skills and entertainment (mixing an oil and balsamic dip at our table) were great.

The food is just as good, if not better, as it was last time. The same could be said for the ambience too. Keep up the good work, chaps.

I heartily recommend this place: It's a little Mediterranean hideaway smack, bang in the middle of busy Bandra. Go there and feast like Pavarotti would after he's been on a fast for a month (if he could, God rest his soul).

Must Visit!

Cafe Mangii is located in a small lane off Linking Rd, between City Walk shoes and Nike showroom (easy to miss). I went to this place a coupla days back, and decided i absolutely HAD TO review it. Here's why.

Starter: gnocchi patata - i cant do justice with words, it was divine... stuffed gnocchi in spinach sauce. HIGHLY recommended

Drinks: Daiquiri was good, muddy mojito was not too stiff but flavourful

Mains: on the server's recommendation, i called for good ol' lasagne and believe me, it was something else! i mean, it was excellent!!! the chicken bolognese was also good

pros - smiling service, chic decor, and of course superb food
cons - small restaurant, limited choice in veg pasta

so this place rightfully deserves a 4 on 5

Incidente Italiano

A friend took me here a couple of weeks ago. There was much hype about this new "Italian" restaurant, or, should that be "Italian-style" restaurant?

I chose the signature dish for main course, after a somewhat disappointing appetiser. The food was OK, if not memorably Italian.

What was memorable were the hyperactive waiting staff. Now, I'm a simple kind of chap, and I like a simple kind of attention in restaurants. Being bombarded with up to 4 different waiters, very keenly trying to please, is the recipe for an early exit for me.

A drink was knocked over by a flamboyant waiter (glass smashing on the stone floor), and another mini accident happened later on. It's a shame that the waiting staff were the most memorable thing of the entire evening, and for all the wrong reasons...

When Prashant Chaudhry opened a hip Italian restaurant in Vile Parle in 2004, he decided to name it after the gnarled mango tree on the patio. Landmark in Italian food in suburbs

The Cafe mangii Italian restaurant opened at khar natural choice. This extension from the same italian restaurant venture brings with it an assurance of world class quality food , and high characterised cozy ambience , restaurant is totally different by day and night.
Good food and service That’s just what we appreciate. .

Lighted candles snow white runners ,walls are kissed by mango colour and interesting toilet with antique brass tap , round shaped bowl basin implies small things enhances the look. The well-priced wine list has a tight focus. Clean, fresh flavours here. From organza salad (Rs 175) to the perfectly prepared with authentic taste lobster thermidor (Rs 595/-) meets with the approval of all. However, too many flavours compete for attention in the menu . Great tiramisu, cheese cake should not be forget to highlight.
The thing we found celebrities are quiet regular here like Lara Dutta, imran khan, malaika arora , Arbaz khan but treated as regular.
Simply Cafe Mangii Is Mindblowing.

Really a Damm Goood Place......

Cafe Mangii is a lip-smacking Italian fare, including the one-of-its-kind wood-fired pizzas you are craving for, in Bandra it is THE place to be in.
The pride of Café Mangii is the Napolitana wood-fired pizza, a one-of-its-kind in Mumbai. Also popular on the menu & my favourite are the perfectly-cooked pastas and a varieties of risottos.
It’s really a value for money..& its cozy and casual atmosphere makes this Café the right venue for people from all walks of life to enjoy soft and warm service, subtle elegance and the best Italian cooking in the city.

best italian food

Went to Mangii with a large group of friends a few nights ago. Excellent service, very knowledgable staff. I'm surprised to see the negative review below, cause that was definitely not my experience. For appetisers we ordered Jalapeno Poppers, and a couple of Pizzas. I honestly cant think of a better Pizza available in Bombay. The peperoni pizza was outstanding, we also tried a Salmon and Capers Pizza which was interesting. For the main course I had the Lobster Thermidor. which was very different from the usual but fantastic. For desert we had some Mango cheesecake, which was really good too. All said and done this was really good food, and fairly reasonable. Considerng the amount of food and alcohol we had I was very happy with the 1200 bucks per head we paid. Equivalent meals at Olive have cost over 2500 per head.

Good pizza, some cons too

Finally visited new Mangii Cafe in Khar West!

Pizza is the best I had in Mumbai so far, even though it's YET different from Pizza Napoletana. Tomato sauce is not as good as in Italy (maybe, they use normal tomatos instead of pomodorini - tiny ones) and bread is simply tasteless, while in Napoli bread is very aromatic - similar to good Tandoori Rooti. I still don't understand why such places as Mangii cannot make good bread for pizza? Anyway, all other Italian places in Mumbai are much worse!

Interior is not very nice - it feels that they put way too many tables in the tiny room, so you don't feel very cosy. Would have been better if they removed some.

Service is great, prices are Bandra's average. Beer available only in bottles, no draft...

Good place to eat

I went out on a friday evening. Its in a nice location, tucked in a corner. Painless parking because of valet. The ambience was good and cozy. The crowd was a bit too noisy though for my liking. The food was good, no qualms here, but i felt that the pizza in mangi ferra were a bit better than here, even though its supposed to be the same and all. The Lasagna Bolognaise was excellent and mouthwatering. Top it all off with yummy Cheesecake for desert.

Overall great value too!

A Mango fell in Khar's backyard

My favourite restaurant has a sibling that just opened doors in Khar. My loyalties are still strongly for the original Mangii Ferra and I am not likely to visit the Khar sibling much too often, but I am glad for the Bandra and SoBo crowd that kept complaining that Juhu was too far.

Most of the dishes have been borrowed from the Juhu Mangii. We started with a Caprese and a bottle of Australian Red. The Caprese had an overdose of basil (didn't hurt). The Mozzarella was soft and melt-in-mouth delicious. We were served a side order of breads and a delicious dip made of red chilli flakes, olive oil and burnt garlic.

Next, we went on to order a signature Mangii wood fire oven pizza. Our choice was Ham, Artichokes and Olives. It was perfectly thin, crispy and appetizing.

Surprisingly too full to be able to try anything else, we simply ended with two double espressos.

It's amazing that this newly opened cafe has been able to maintain the same super quality and grace as the riper mangii. If I were you, I'd head over before things change (although, I totally wish they never do).
