synonymous to Perfection

This place is located at theLE SUTRA THE INDIAN ART HOTEL. The best part is the seating arrangement! You can sit without your shoes, cross legged and be super comfortable. All salad based items were great - like the pasta and beans, chicken, ham salad. Tried Basa in parsley sauce which was very delightful. A small section is stationed with chat and south indian being offered upon request. The music, the ambiance, the bar and the kitchen, this place has got it all right.

fun place

Before I patronized Olive, I was a fan of just sitting at Out of the Blue and sipping a glass of wine. They would have fun events through the months and I am guessing, they still do the same.
I have eaten so much here, which led me to the gym.
From pizzas to that sinful cheese fondue, Out of the Blue serves everything and it's so delicious, sometimes however, the service would lack, but most times they are really courteous.

Great place

It has very classy ambiance, very romantic place too and frequented by many high society people too. Live music performances happen a lot, service is good, has good continental food, was here for a friend's birthday and ordered chicken peri peri which was excellent. Price is a little bit more than what is comfortable for me..but it is not a place for college students...so overall it was great.

Great place

Outdoor seating section is amazing,I have been here with my girl pals on a Wednesday ,they always have amazing offers going on,especially for ladies,so check it out! Everything is good, though not extraordinary. I like chocolate fondue a lot. Pasta is also good, red sauce penne is amazing,I don’t like the white sauce much so cannot say about it. The ambiance wins over everyone and it is pretty great for a date or any special occasion.

A sauve experience.

I was here with my date on a saturday night. Chose this place over AER (where they charge an hefty 10k for a couple) and the decision was not a disappointment.
We had to wait for around half an hour to get our table. One commendable facility the place offers is an undiscriminating waiting area. Undiscriminating because most of the restaurants have waiting areas that are visibly "different" from the eating zones consisting of just vital necessities like chairs. You can also order some basic starters/beer etc while you are waiting.
The restaurant exhibits a satisfactory ambiance (Nothing unique). We ordered a six pack of miller which we got for 800 bucks, which comes to around 133 bucks a pint. They have this offer all day long.
We ordered for a rawas fish cake and stuffed mushrooms for starters. Both the dishes were delicious. Ordered a black pepper fondue as main course (Sadly they don't serve it with chicken). Which again catalyzed an affair with my taste buds.
They just stopped playing music when we entered. Just as we wondered if we were the reason we got to know we entered at the time when they were playing the last song. So basically no music i guess after 10ish. (By music I mean live music, and not the bombastic ones coming out of massive speakers).
Summating on the dining experience as a whole, I would say everything was smooth, calm and neat. A good place for people who prefer silent dining over noisy ones.

Nice Place

Le Sutra is an absolute must visit if you are coming to Mumbai and especially if you are staying in Bandra. The concept of individualized rooms is genius. My room was absolutely gorgeous, quiet, and comfortable. It was the perfect space after two days of flying. The staff was gracious, courteous, and always ready to answer questions, help me hail an auto, or get my bags. With so many hotels in Bombay, it is easy for places like Le Sutra to get overlooked in favor of some of the big names. However, you can get all of the pampering and luxury of the resort style hotels for a fraction of the price, with better service, and much more personality.

Food is good, rest is ok!

We visited this place on a Thursday recently. We found out that this place is divided into two sections outdoor which is lit with candles giving it an extra touch but being summers it is very hot to sit here Inspite of the water sprinklers and indoor where service is very poor and music is very loud.

The interiors of the indoor location are also very old and need some renovation.

But Inspite of all this we enjoyed the quality of food here.

Rest factors and must to improve upon !

An Awesome Place

The ambiance is worth noting. Such Class!

The music was soothing and you just enjoy it even more with a red wine. A good collection of wines.

We ordered a corn mushroom crostini and was it yum! asparagus risotto was nice with a combination of cheese.

Service was timely and minimum conversation.

A different buffet

We went to this place on a friday afternoon and we decided to try out the buffet.
The restaurant was packed even in the afternoon and can get a bit noisy but nothing to complain about. We decided to sit in the ac section .

The starters and deserts are laid out in a part in the ac section , the barbeque is outside in the open section and the mains are bought to the table.
The starters included various types of breads ,dips and a few salads.
The dips were yummy ,very few times do places manage to get all the dips equally tasty,so a big thumbs up for just that!!
One can choose from either a glass of wine or mojito as an accompaniment.
In the barbecue section there is a choice of grilled chicken, paneer, or fish with sauces and vegetables.
I had the stuffed grilled chicken with spinach which was good.
The mains had pasta ,lasagna and something else in fish .
We felt that as compared to the rest of the course the mains were pretty average ,the taste could have been much better.
The other problem was the desserts ,there were only 4 options a pie ,a tart and two small cakes.
Their taste was again just about ok and i wish there was atleast one variety of ice cream.

The starters and barbecue were good ,it was a different type of a buffet ,service was good,so overall an afternoon well spent
The cost for 2 people came to around 1300rs

My Favourite

Out of the Blue is easily my most favorite restaurant in Mumbai. It has the perfect ambiance and yummy food. My favourite are the sizzlers and the italian cuisine. They have a Spa Buffet on Fridays which is worth every penny, the interiors are artistic and music soft.

Sometimes they have standup comic acts as well in the evenings.

Fine Dine and Wine!!

Simply Satisfying ..

Well prior to the valentine week, they had Swiss food festival.
I am a foodie and love trying various cuisine although i am thorough vegetarian.
Me with my couple of friends went over this place for dinner to have Swiss.
We booked the table online, however due to some problem they didn't have the details of our booking. Yet we were lucky enough to get a table.

The outdoor was decorated beautifully. There was a singer singing all Enrique numbers. It was cold and the entire setup was so mesmerizing with scented candles on each table. It was just wowwww.

The food is obviously not much to be talked about. They serve great food. So was the case this time also. We loved Swiss food.
The cheesy fondue was just yummy. We were just completely full and enjoyed to the fullest.

Amazing Food, Ambiance, Service and Completely Worth It .. Just A+ ..

Keep Up The Good Work..

Nice food & great atmosphere for food.

Was here for a office get-to-gather. The restaurant is not very easy to locate but just call-up & the manager will guide you excellently.. It looks small while you enter but it just keeps on expanding... They have got 4 different areas to segregate ppl...

The manager gave us a separate area for the group of 30 ppl.... It was Friday noon - hence was special things arranged for ladies !!

Most of the food was good leaving couple of items. The best one being Lasagne... The taste of each item was authentic & looked wonderful... Was not disappointed even on the Mock tail front.. Absolutely recommended for couples - where they can provide a separate sitting area to enjoy the food & spend quality time..

go goa gone

This place reminds you of goa and even the music and decor is designed to do so. They have good options both for outdoor as well as indoor seating. The food and drinks were good. They have a good variety of cuisines available and since i went there in a group, i saw and tried different cuisines - italian risotto(my favorite wherever i go) , burgers and pizzas. The dessert options looked tempting from what we saw on other tables but we had no room for it. This place is good for group hang out. The drinks were impressive, especially i would recommend the long island iced tea- one of the best i had in a long time.

Fantastic food, ambience and value for money

Been here several times with all age groups and relations, family, friends , kids and this restaurant caters to all. They have really put in effort to make the menu interesting. Though all their sizzlers are excellent, the basa one needs special mention. The vegetable and potato sides are well done and we'll seasoned. All their salads are large portions and good enough for a light meal. The pasta is all well done with plenty of sauce and suits the Indian palate. The starters are all good too.The staff is friendly and patient and knowledgeable about the menu.
The ambience is great - vibrant and buzzing even during the day, the decor is warm and inviting. The large outdoor area is well cooled with water fans and fan curtains and there is floor seating on settees as well. Excellent value for money at this casual dining restaurant.

Best hang-out place in Bandra/Khar

Go for a relaxed meal and an empty stomach. The cocktails are well made and very potent. Try their LLIT (long island iced tea). Their fondues and sizzlers are very good and innovative. The smaller portions of Sizzlers are good for light eaters. I love their Fiery Paneer and Stuffed Mushrooms. The Pesto Cream pasta is possible one of the best in town.

What happened to this place???

HI All,
well, i have been frequenting this place for years now but suddenly it has gone down the drain!!! Whats with the horrible service, unclean place and to top it all BAD FOOOD!! The most basic pasta was all wrong!!! The risotto was the most terrible i have eaten in years!!! Wrong flavours, BAdly cooked, unclean greens!!!
What the hell happened to the Good old out of the blue???
Also the worst is the staff!! YES WORSE!! The staff memebers who take your call for booking do not understand anything you saying and mix up the reservations!! Also when i checked with them! They were very very rude!!!!
I absolutely need an answer and an apology from Out Of The Blue on this!! Do you guys have any basic criteria when you hire your staff?? do you give them any training in manners at all????

I AM NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN!!!!

OoTB is one of favorite places to go to for wines, some decadence and heavenly aromas.
But given that mumbai is becoming so expensive, it is becoming more evident in the food at OoTB as well. They dont raise prices but the quantity and quality of foods starts to suffer.
Though still a super place to go chill, hangout and enjoy some good times there.

Bad Quality Food !

I used to love going to out of the blue for sizzlers, but I visited it on tuesday night for dinner and ordered a mushroom sizzlers. The taste was okay, portions have become really less, but what shocked me was the quality after paying a bill of Rs 1500 approx. My husband came home and vomited and could see the mushrooms, I fell sick the very next day, vomited and got diarrhoea . I had to miss two days of work and will be resting over the weekend. One is the salary I loose, second is the discomfort and fatigue that I have. I have to consume antibiotics. I am shocked to get this kind of food from a reputed restaurant like this. My husband and I have been ill due to their food.

Try it once.

Umm We visited this on a Sunday, We had no reservations so had to end up sitting outside in the open. It was really hot out there. The place was really lively, full of people. The waiter was forcing us to have stuff we weren't interested in so that he can increase the bill. We had Italian Food. The quantity wasn't much as compared to what it was being charged for. But it was delicious. Since it was crowded not much attention was paid to the service. I'd recommended you to visit this place on a weekday.

Out of The Blue, Bandra West

n a city like mumbai where place is always a constraint Out of the Blue seems quite spacious. I have always been to the outdoor seating as it looked so much more comfy than the inside.

They dont have a standardised seating arrangement and its a mix of low wooden seating, chairs, and sofas. That breaks the monotony and looks artistic too. So ambiance wise this place is very Nicely done. Food also is great here.

A Near Perfect Meal !!!! Can never go wrong

Been to this place umpteen number of times...and it never disappoints...

With options to sit outside or inside, there is a comfortable seat for all... if your a couple, or a group of friends.... seating options are many... low seating, sofa seating, group seating etc... though, its always packed...

Food is beyond description... the taste is to die for... penne in paprika sauce and the cottage cheese steak paprika are a must-try for us every visit... never get tired of it... can also try pesto crostini,..

if there is room for desert, then try their death by chocolate or molten chocolate cake for chocolate lovers... or their cheesecakes as well...

its always been a near perfect meal... delicious.....

This candle lit place at the carter road is a frequent visit for us. To start this place has great fondue with the french bean and olives as dippers. The lavash and the bread are soft and fresh. They have different sizes for their main course as large and medium serving for pastas. The sizzlers are a must have at this place. The ambience is divided into two settings with group friendly seats inside and private setting in the open. The place has water sprinkling fans so you never feel hot seated in the open. The desserts are by Deliciae at Powai and Khar. The banofee is one of my favourite. Seasonal but the strawberry banofee is a no one can eat just 1 preparation. The cheese cake is a delight too.

Superb place to hangout for lunch/dinner

I have visited OOTB so many times i have lost counts. Be it friend's birthday, corporate lunch, dinner date with wife. The food here is awesome and also the desserts. I love the Tiramisu that they serve here. You can also try the buffet lunch that they have, o am not sure if they are still continuing with that. They have really good options for vegetarians.

Bad customer service !!

1) Good ambience
2) Decent Live Music
3) Pricey
4) Stay away from Kababs, way too bad
Stick to the continental stuff--- Pretty decent
5) **********Behaviour -- HORRIBLE .... asked them why their kabab was so hard ( guess they has prepared it long back), the chef started arguing with us about how this is the first time someone has complained about thier food ( as if they are the best joint in Mumbai & the world !!) We weren't even expecting any small geswtures viz. not charging / replacement; he thought we were creating an issue because we wanted freebies.. how funny can people get & that too after spending 4000 Rs on food on 4 people. But then these are wannabe high end joints who can charge a bomb & dish out sub-standard food & then send a man clad in some damn white apron to argue with customers.... so much for their customer service!! Will think twice before going back, but then that's just our opinion. They seriously need to understand that not everyone who walks in their supposedly "cool" joint is there to enjoy freebies...DISAPPOINTED !! but then I bet they don't care !!

Old favourite

Always call in advance if you're going at night. It's bound to be packed. But they don't take reservations at peak hours. Just land up and hope to get a table. Well worth the wait as always. Great service from the valet to the maitre'd and the server. Nice wines, amazing salmon bruschetta, fondue and risotto. Oh and place your order for a Banoffee from their dessert counter in advance. It's usually over by 10 pm. But divine.

crowded but food is good!

Advice: Book in advance. Even after booking you might have to wait 30 mins or so to get a table. In the summer (March to November) the outdoor section is not worth it even if they have fans. In Mumbai you need airconditioning!

Out of the Blue stands out

Bandra is home to the finest restaurants of the city. And even amidst all these restaurants, Out of the Blue stands out. The calm atmosphere with soft music is very relaxing. I had the desi fondue and it is so delicious. I can think about it just as I am writing this review. I think you can order anything from the menu and the chef will make sure it’s cooked to perfection so that you keep wanting to come here again.

Nice place slowly loosing its charm!

I first visited this place in 2000 - that time it was only place which served customised sizzler and I guess being in the neighbourhood of Shatranj Napoli and Olive helped it. Over the next 7-8 years, it expanded rapidly and became a prime hotspot of Bandra. It was an excellent place with awesome food, ambience and service .

In the last few years, this place is slowly loosing its old charm. Service and staff smell good amount of arrogance, food is pretty ordinary and ambience needs revamp.

Went for lunch yesterday. First of all, shocked to see the commercialisation of the place. Just when I was handing over the car keys for Valet, a person running a jewellery exhibition next door thronged my sister in law and requested her to see the stuff. We entered inside and on the left side, a stall of womenswear - shalwar kurta etc. On the right hand side, a stall of vanaspati oil followed by one of organic veggies. Oh my god, is this a fine dining place or dhaba.

We ordered a carafe of Pinotage and few veg starters. Wine took 25 minutes to serve and came after the starters. Was tasting as if they have mixed some acid and water in it. We ordered a sizzler for main course. It came before the starters. Was dry with hardly any sauce and the French fires in the same were sizzling cold. Tasted awful.

For God sake, this place needs to be reminded that you cannot run on past glory for long. If this be the standard, cut your price to half.

disappointing visit

i used to love going to out of the blue. even when they hiked their prices. we celebrate special occasions there, take our friends there. But our last visit there , which mind u was my husband's bday eve, was a complete disaster. all thanks to the awe full food. my daughter loves ur desi fondue but this time it was so salty.. i sent back the sauce, it still came back not edible. we decided to move on and order another dish. the chicken perperita sizzler. the only flavor that dish had was salt. it was so disappointing. the meal was ruined. the day was ruined. and i dnt think i can bring my self to ever visit ur restaurant , which i had been frequenting for 5 years, again. And i am very sad to let go of a place which i used to love so much. disappointing!!!!

Great Experience!! Your 200th review! :D

Had heard a lot about this place and finally got a chance to go today with my family! Firstly, I'll enlist what I savoured...

Red Eye Chicken
Fish Fingers

Turkey (Christmas spl)
4 Cheese Fondue

Tiramisu
Mars Heaven
Blueberry Cheesecake

The starters were lovely. Fish & Chicken was perfectly cooked. Then we went for their Christmas special - Turkey. It didn't disappoint me a single bit. The sauce, the perfectly cooked Turkey and the mashed potatoes...Awesome combination. They have a wide range of Wine and Wine Cocktails but I'm not a Wine-drinker so didn't go for it.

Watch out for the 4 Cheese Fondue, especially you're a Cheese lover! It is amazing. The cheese simply melts into your mouth. Though the peppercorns were a little disturbing but everything else was just the right amount.

Desserts - simply perfect. I have no words. Overall, a great experience! I'm surely coming back pretty soon! :)

OOTB is another restaurant that is big on service and food quality. Best place to take your partner out. Good ambience and food and service. Try cheese fondue really enjoyed it but it is only for special occasions. Pricing is fairly reasonable and there is a good selection of food, desserts and alcohol. A little confusing to find as there is another sign above the door.

Nice romantic restaurant with good food n live mus

Well I was looking for the one romantic place for my first wedding anniversary. All the guys know what it means. Well even gals wud agree how much pressure the guy has to take his women to the right place. I zeroed in on this place and It was a good decision. It takes a while to figure out the restaurant since you don't see any big board outside, but anybody will tell you, its quite famous.
Ambiance : it is good. they have AC and non AC area, AC is quieter. you have live music playing. The music is really good, Its a candle light dinner place.
Food: We ordered wine, cocktail, A chicken n cheese soup, Fiery prawns, chicken n prawns pasta ( Large ). Food overall is good, I liked the soup n pasta. cocktell Love potion tested like cough syrup but may be it was a wrong choice. Founde is famous here but we didn't order. Tip : Pasta small size is also big :)
Money : Well its bit on the pricey side, for all the above food n drinks the bill was 2800.
Overall : I had great time, specially because good live music, ambiance, service and good tasty food.

Great ambience, great food- but very pricey

Have been a regular here for almost 2-3 years now. Love the ambience, esp in the nights with glowing candles. Absolutely love their cheese fondue. usually end up having that. think they have the best fondues anywhere in Mumbai! Desserts are also amazing and delectable. dinner for 2 with drinks can easily set one back by Rs 2000, which is pretty tall order for a non-5 star eatery.

Decade celebration dinner was disappointing

Went for the decade celebration dinner at out of the blue with expectations of reliving the old times with the old menu.
Was disappointed to see the dwarf menu presented to me with almost no good food or beverage options and when ordered, the dish seemed to have been given a step-motherly treatment by the chef. I would recommend not to consider this as a promotional offer and order from the normal menu of the restaurant.

High price for tiny amount of food!!!

I have been here before. The food has been decent. HOWEVER last evening was surely my last time there.

Their portions have reduced. Their prices have increased. A Mezzo platter had a well organized plate of random dips (two of which could be identified as Lebanese) The others seems like mishmashed chutneys.

The red wine Sangria had apple pieces????!!!! Really?? Please when you charge me an arm and a leg for a pitcher at least make it the way it's meant to be.

The grilled cottage cheese dish with mashed potatoes was wonderful. Small but wonderful. I always amaze at what a raw deal us vegetarians get. Creativity applied you can come up with something more substantial for a vegetarian other than mashed aloo.

OUT OF THE BLUE OUT OF SIGHT certainly OUT OF MIND!

I could have eaten a much better meal at the Hilton or Marriot for the same amount of moolah.

Out of this planet!

Out of the blue's decor depicts the decor of an art gallery. Non air conditioned and air conditioned sitting gives guest a chance to enjoy a nice cozy place. In air condition section, there is a area for live performances which you can hear when you sit in non air-condition section. Menu contains Pasta, sizzler and variety of Fondues. Starters were pretty good served with Mayonnaise. We ordered 3 cheese fondue which was really good. Taste of cheese was delicious. Next time when I visited, I tried Desi fondue which was fondue with Indian spices. Foreigner may like this fondue but for Desi people, this might not be the right fondue.

Moving towards my favourite section, Desserts, we went for Belgium Chocolate Cake. Trust me! It was mouth watering. Perfect bitterness of dark chocolate mixed with classic vanilla makes it scrumptious and rich. Another dessert was Mars Haven, one word, Divine! Vanilla ice cream, a cold sensation mixed with smooth chocolate mousse, is a pleasure for your palate.

Awful!

Had a dreadful experience. This place completely sucks on the value for money front. Small portion sizes, ordinary food, pathetic ambiance with guitar strumming in a far away corner, could not even hear what the man was mumbling into the mike. Caught a few strains of Happy Birthday to you in between. I guess eating in a 5-star hotel would be much more reasonable and fulfilling.

Good for A la carte..

Have tried both their lunch buffet and the a la carte dinner options..the buffet had a good selection of salads, desserts and live counters. The only downside was that the barbecue/pasta portions ordered from the counters were really small. The lemon fish and the pasta barely covered half the plate..makes you wonder if they got their starter and entrée portions mixed up?? Dinner was a different scene altogether..Efficient service, generous portions and good ambience.

Friday Spa Lunch

Visited Out of The Blue for their Friday Spa Lunch yesterday, and I must say that for the price of 375+tax they offer a really really wide spread of food! Add as little as 45 bucks to it and you also get a glass of wine, isn't that cool? We were welcomed with an Organgy-Gingery-Minty kind of a welcome drink. We ordered for some cocktails too, and their in house specialty Jaljeera Mojito is really awesome! The Grand Cosmo was not bad at all either! To our surprise the salad bar was innovative and had awesome selections, from a Beetroot and Pear Salad to an Egg and Asparagus Plate to Mexican Chicken Salad to Sausage and Pasta Salad. The bread variety was wide too, and the dips were out of this world. The Pumpkin dip was my favorite. Moving on to the mains, here is the interesting part. There is a Live Pasta Counter and you can go and have as much pasta as you'd like, plus, you get to order a main from their Spa Menu. I ordered the Spicy Basa with Lemon Caper Sauce which was really awesome. Spiced Chicken was also ordered and was very good too. For vegetarians they have Polenta and Polpettes. We then moved on to dessert, which consisted of Chocolate Eclairs, an awesome Strawberry Tart, Baklava, Chocolate Rice Crisps, Chocolate Roulade, Chocolate Cake and Mango Cheesecake. Although the Cheesecake was a bit soggy from the base, the overall selection of desserts was very wide and the chocolate cake and tart were clear winners. We also ordered for a Chocolate and Peanut Butter Fondue (not in the buffet), and guys you have to try this one coz it cannot be explained in any other word than perfection. It was perfection in a pot of melting chocolate and peanut butter, served with accompaniments such as brownies, pound cakes, fruit skewers and biscuits! Lovely lovely stuff.

Pleasant Surprise!

So like many other couples, we decided to have a quiet lunch here on a Tuesday afternoon. The ambience is perfect, cosy and romantic. We called for a Heineken beer, Peach Iced Tea, 4-cheese pasta, Chicken and Prawns Sizzler and a "Death By Chocolate" dessert. The total damage for a lavish lunch was 1950 INR; steep but totally worth it.
What I dint like: Seating is too cramped and only one A/C out of three was in a working condition in the inner section.
All in all a wonderful experience, will definitely come again for the 'Friday Spa Lunch Buffet'

Went there a while ago, with friends, to celebrate my birthday. It was a "suggested" alternative, so socha, try martey hain! Ah ha, ah ha... dil khush kitta bhai!

The best part about the place, apart from the food, is the ambiance. Oh, not to forget... their lovely service. Their stock of tequilas are fab! I recommend you shoot the "gold" one. And their cheese fondue was oh, la, la. The food rocked and the desserts, dang! Plus, their menu is like a little book. So loads a stuff to choose from! And all this, with the background of the live guitar = one awesome experience.

Best place for a romantic dinner...

I had been to out of the Blue with a set of friends for a brief time... and had loved the place... I left the place thinking only to visit very soon.

The perfect time came when I was looking out for 'Romantic dining options' in bandra on my 5th wedding anniversary... and we zeroed down on Out of the Blue because it was closest.

However it turned out to be the best choice....and the best celebration...
The place has yummy food... mouthwatering desserts... great service (and suggestions), romantic ambiance, awesome live music, and what a lovely seating ! I couldn't ask for a more perfect place to have my 5th wedding anniversary private dinner :)

Must try their DESI FONDUE ... although a starter... you can have a complete meal with that one. The fondue bowl on a small flame keeps the food sizzling on the table.
And yes... do not miss the cheese cake at the dessert shop outside... completely yummy in the tummy!

Amazing!!!

This is 1 place I keep going back to. Perfect for loooong dinner in their courtyard area.
The ambience is amazing, the live music (am not sure if it is played daily) sets the perfect background, the food is fantastic and the wines are good. Service too, is prompt.
Love their pastas and customized sizzlers, being a veggie who does not like paneer and mushroom!!
Post-dinner, relax at the small tables near the dessert counter to have a cuppa or a sinful pastry and enjoy the art for sale by various artists.

Nice Ambience Ok Food

The vibe of Out of the blue is quite nice. Nice crowd, good seating and prompt service (atleast when we were there).
The drinks were nice. Non veg sampler was dry and sad. The cottage cheese with jalapeno was tasty but was not at all hot .
The sizzlers were decent but there was nothing smoky or barbequey about my smoky barbeque chicken.
Much better fare available at a stones throw.

Had a great time!

So it started with where to go for a girls night out and we ended up at Out of The Blue. Since it was a Saturday night, we had to wait for about 20 mins and we were ok with that. The waiting area is where their dessert section is, and us famished girls were longing for a bite of those delicious desserts displayed at their counter!

We were ushered into the open dining section which was wonderfully lit with candle light type of dim lights placed on each table. The whole thing gave a very peachy look to the area and we loved it instantly! They have all kind of seating arrangements. A regular table and chair affair both in the A/C section as well as outside. We got to sit on an elevated platform with a very low bench and a low table, almost like the one's you have at any hookah places but this one was much cuter and cozier.

We ordered for 3 Cheese rolls and Bruschetta for starters alongwith some mocktails. Since one of us was a jain, they were kind enough to give us options for dishes which can be made jain style for my friend. Next, we went for their 4 Cheese Fondue which was divine! After which we called for their make you own Sizzler and a jain style Pasta mafia. The pasta was great even though it was jain, so I can only imagine how their original pasta tastes like! However, the sizzler was a disappointment. It did not have any veggies. Just the cutlet and butter rice we chose from their options alongwith the cheese sauce. Individually, the items tasted good, but together it was a mess. Since we were extremely full after having so much, we had to skip the desserts which was a shame, but I'm sure to try them the next time.

The service here is pretty quick. The food came earlier than expected even though the place was jammed full of people. The only glitch was, out of all the mocktails we ordered, 1 never came inspite of a reminder; after which I had to ask our server to cancel it since we were almost done with our dinner. The guy serving us also didnt seem too bothered and instead of apologizing, simply said ok to cancel. However, we had to call some other guy when they messed up with the Sizzler. That guy seemed much more courteous and apologetic and brought us a bowl of veggies though, again bland, but we appreciated it. He also offered to get the missed mocktail but we denied.

Overall, the experience was great except these few glitches which can be overlooked considering the other pros of this place. I would definitely recommend OOTB to everyone out there. Go and have a gala time with friends/family here with excellent food and ambiance!

Damages for 4 were approx 3,500/- which is not so bad.

Food:- 4/5
Ambiance:- 5/5
Service:- 4/5
Pricing:- 4/5

Good Place

I have been looking forward to visit OOB for quite sometime and finally could make it.The place is preety much crowded even on week days. Be prepared to wait for minimum 30 mins any day you land there! The good thing is they have good options for you to pass your 30 mins - coz some or the other exhibitions are alwaz on in the next door! After waiting for sometime finally got a table... they have a good menu with variety to choose from. As most of us know PASTA rock here! Sizzlers are decent enough... good mocktails as well. One should surely give it a try!! its worth it!!

Made me Blue

Fondue tasted like Pav Bhaji
Garlic Bread with cheese was too salty
Jack Hammer cocktail - Took a super size for my bad luck. Tasted as if super size was made by only adding ice. Did not feel the taste of Vodka
Hot Choloate Fudge gave a nice ending.
Cramped space and too noisy.. The chit chat clouds the nice live guitar.

Not worth the efforts taken to drive down 2.5 hours from Haji Ali to reach this place.
Will not come back again!

Do try it!

The first thing i saw when i entered was this huge selection of desserts all of which looked mouth watering !This place has a great ambience to it.. the seating, the music, the furniture - everything complements each other quite well.Although it was quite crowded, we still had our privacy.
Now coming to the food..the soup was fine, nothing too extraordinary. But the salads were much better-especially the different dips and cheese.
Then came the main course, which i totally loved! I had a chicken sizzler, all the elements of which tasted perfect . Also, Do not forget to try food from the Thai counter ..its lip smackingly good! The dessert spread looked fine, but could not have too much thanks to the wonderful main course. This place is totally worth your money and you will leave wanting to come back again.
Oh and I forgot..For all the women who visit, they have lucky dips in which they give away some good gifts..:)

A place for all Seasons

I have many memories of the place, I have celebrated friends' birthdays, family events, casual outings, last minute food options, etc. The place looks just appropriate. It is one of the only places in Mumbai where I will wait 30 minutes to find place.

The food is good, the ambiance is appropriate for any occasion and good cordial service. Now all that will come at a cost!

I went there with my office colleagues. It was celebration time for our time and we had reserved a place. The ambiance is too good. It's quite a romantic place for couples. It was my first time there.
The food and the drinks were great. And the vegetarian menu had quite some good variety. Great service which never kept us waiting for anything.
Would love to visit this place once more.

best place to dine in mumbai

Every time I have visited this place, I've had a wonderful experience. Amazing ambiance, best food, great service. What else is required? I had been here with my fiance (she is not from Mumbai) and indeed, she was impressed :) As I expected, she loved the place. We sat outside and enjoyed a couple of drinks with a starter and ordered a sizzler which is the best thing to order here. A must visit for all burrpers :)

Again 5 on 5 for Fondue, Bruschetta and Ambiance

This is my second review and again this place rocks like ever! The ambiance has the magic of setting up the right mood and more over live singer tuning into beautiful songs is a perfect occasion. As we entered, we were welcomed with warm gesture of the receptionist and escorted towards our table. This place is perfect to get along with friends and this time again i was with my girlfriend and the time we spent was amazing. The Fondue was out of this world (Really Amazing) and Bruschetta was brilliantly made. But this time the food went without the wine. But without the wine it still had that essence to hold up tight onto our seats. Totally relaxing and a perfect getaway and perfect place to be anytime. Unlike many places, the quality of this place is really apart and this is what keeps me dragging.

Best Eating joint in Mumbai!

This is my fav eating outlet in Mumbai! I love italian food & pasta and Out of the blue has some really good ones.
The fondue here is also too good.
Like the different seating options available - feel like having an open air breezy ambience? its there... feel like cozying up in a nicely air conditioned spacious (not really) zone? u r welcome!

Desserts are good too... Must visit place, I would say...

And from what I have heard from my friends, their tandoor & Indian food is definitely not upto the mark, so stay away from those!

Out Of The Blue

There is something remarkable about this place. So much so that, I'd go on to say that it is one of my favourite hangout places in the city. The food is good and is mainly Italian and Continental. Out of The Blue is known for its deserts too and since I am not too fond of sweets, I have tried only a couple of them and I must admit that they were delicious.

Honestly, it is not food that separates this place from the rest; it is the ambience that does.

The seating arrangement is superb. The lighting is the best I have seen and stands out as soon as you enter the place. This is perhaps the most beautifully lit-up place I have been to.

Also, if you care about it, this place is frequented by celebrities. It is a fantastic place for a relaxing conversation. It can be a lovely dating place. It is also a fine-dine. It's location, too, boosts its stature. Out of The Blue can be many things.

It is rare that I praise a restaurant so much beyond the quality of food it serves, but Out Of The Blue deserves it. It is indeed a special place. Yes, it may be an expensive affair but the experience is completely worth it.

Do visit it.

Gave me the blues...

Third time I'd been here and I'm definitely not going to be in a rush to go back.

Had the stuffed mushroom to start which was adequate but things went serious downhill from then on.

The sizzler I chose was the chicken and prawn bbq or surf 'n turf - disgusting. The prawns were not fresh, the chicken was stringy and the veg were completely bland as was the sauce. Inedible.

My friend chose the Thai chicken sizzler and this was also extremely bland.

To add insult to injury, the service was unforgivable. Started with one waiter who took our order but he disappeared to another part of the restaurant and it took four different waiters and bus boys to bring a very complicated order of a Pepsi.

This took an hour (no joke) as the first two requests were ignored and then the third guy brought a diet Pepsi.

The seemed to be no order or attentiveness on behalf of the table staff most of whom were huddled around the tills facing away from the clientele.

I can only put the disorganisation down to bad management and training.

Poor.

Lovely place

Its an lovely place with good variety of dishes. We had tried veg. exotica and cottage cheese with barbeque sauce...it was just amazing. The only thing that surprised to me was they didnt had veg. bread. Even the bread were with eggs.

This was told to us ONLY when we confirmed. They should have told us at the time of taking order when we clearly informed that everything has to be purely veg.

Else everything was great. A perfect place..

Good But Not great

Visited out of the blue after a really long time and was looking forward to it. I was not disaapointed but wasnt too happy either.

The Bruschettas were awesome, so were the stuff mushrooms.

We called for Appetisers we called for a Greek Salad (Greque) - The salad was fresh and the feta was nice as well, but the mint dressing and raisins ruined the salad.

The Tomato bisque was stictly OK.

The Mocktails were ordered were good.

For the main course we decided to stick to the sizzlers, we called for a Paneer and the hot pot veg. The Paneer sizzler was OKish, while the hot pot veg sizzler was great.

The desserts were looking quite good, but we decided to give it a miss because it was really noisy and we were tired of literally shouting at the table.

All in all a decent place, I will visit again. I am sure there is more to this place and I wanna come back for sure to try other stuff.

I always have the best experience when i visit this place, they make a great effort to make your evening truly special. I celebrated Valentine's day with my husband here, and being foodies, we both enjoyed the food and wine. We had a German pork dish with mashed potatoes and some smoked salmon crostini which was absolutely beautiful. The risotto was a little bit of a let-down but the sizzlers are good and so are the Turkey dishes and oh yes... the Fondue is to die for!!!!
Overall we spent about 4,000 on a lovely dinner here the staff is very attentive and very quick.

The place is wonderful. Excellent Service and the lighting is perfect. The food took long to be served but no regrets, we enjoyed the ambience. The music was very pleasant and the ambience engulfed romance to its core. The portion of food is limited unless you order a sizzler. Don't hesitate on asking the waiter which dish could do justice to the price. The quality of food is predictable and its very common to what's ordered in other restaurants. In all a good experience. Worth a second try. Cheers!

Not as Great as Expected

Been there with colleagues for Dinner, it was Just OK , nothing more than that ! Not Worth the Price too. They Overcharge for Mocktails, which are just 3 sips !!! Limited variety of Menu , which is not appealing to the palatte! Even the menu included in the Medditerranean Fest was now something outstanding. Had taken the potato starter, which was brrr. Sizzler was also ok, with tasteless mashed potato. Only something good, which was available, was cheese roll, which was also over, by the time we went there :(.
As far as the Dessert, served at Delicacie, that was also just Ok, overpriced and not that tempting.

Out Of The Bluh!!

Was in the burb with a friend, and decided to try Out Of The Blue... Pretty huge place, I must say... The place is divided in 4 sections.. Just as you enter , there is dessert counter to the right, then to the left there's an outdoorsy corridor kinda place with table and diwans, where it's a waiting cum cafe kinda area.. further down, it opens-up into the outdoor area of the restaurant.. There's an indoor section, and at the side there's a stairway leading to the roof-top area... I would think that they'd keep the roof-top area for more intimate tables for 2, but instead it's kept for families and large groups..

Got there at around 9:45, it was a weekday, yet t'was quite packed.. .. had no reservation, so asked the lady at the counter how long it would take to get a table.. was assured that we'd get a table in 15 mins... That seemed like an okay wait period... In the meantime we were asked to take a table outside..

People keep harping 'bout the ambience.... it's Okay'ish... they could've done a better job.... the place has outdoors & indoors sections.. The tables are too cramped together, to fit in as many ppl as possible.. I guess they're going to quantity, rather than quality... The Outdoor restuarant area was dimly lit.... looked kinda shady to me, rather than romantic, as ppl claim..

Okay, it's 10:15pm now, and no table yet.... the lady the counter assure me that are table will be ready in 10 mins.. While waiting in the cafe are, I ask if I can order drinks & starters, but all I got was a firm NO, from the waiter.. ..Leave aside being served in that area, the even refused to let me pre-order... Anyway, 10 mins later I was ushered to a table on the outside ... It was a low seating table.. impossible for me to dine on, since I'm 6.1'

10:45pm, no table as yet... as I was about to walk out the place, fuming away, a guy who seemed to think he was in charge came-up and assured me that my table would be ready in no time; I was told that one table was paying-off their bill, would be empty in 5 mins.. .. they offered a complimentary glass of what they thought was blue Curacao.. As if that was gonna make me calm down...

It was now 11:pm, and I was giving the manager a peice of my mind, when I was told that the table was ready .. the manager assigned a waiter just for me, who seemed to wear this perminent quizzical smirk..creepy!!

Browsed through the alcho selection... they had a decent variety, and selection...

Ordered a Caipiroska ... thought the alcho would calm me down... no such thing ... apprantely these guyz use thimbles as measures for pegs.. the Vodka was almost non-existent.. ggarrrggghhh....

Since we were just 2 of us.. we ordered just 1 starter.. Chicken Chermoulla, morrocan style.. Was palatable..

There was a large selection of sizzlers to choose from ... they even had a Make Your Own Sizzler thingy..

For mains, me friend called for a Penne in Creamy Chickena & Ham Sauce, and a 4 meat sizzler... Both the dishes were not bad... although, I've had better for the same price..pretty forgetable...

To top it all off, we were given a sizzling brownie, on the house.. I'm no fan of sizzling brownie, but I decided to be polite and digged in... "eeew" was the first reaction, form both of us.. brownie was dry, and rancid, and the hot choc sauce synthetic...

By the end of it, we were rather irrtated by the whole experience, and just wanted to get the hell out..

After Taste - I think the place has good potential... they have the space.... the service really needs to be worked-upon... Quality should be the focus, and not quantity, and variety...

Good food, Good ambience, lack of enough staff

Just got back from Out Of The Blue for a friend's birthday dinner. I've been here a couple of times and I usually walk out content with the quality of food I have there.

Food:
In one word, GREAT FOOD. The fries are simple, crispy and just-out-of-the-oven hot. Call for their garlic-mayo and you won't be disappointed. Somehow the mayo was too liquidy and there's not much I could do about it. Next was the Garlic bread with cheese. Tasted good, but was not toasted enough. The crispiness in the edges of the bread were sorely missing in the middle part of the garlic bread. A Non-Veg platter followed. 3 pieces of 4 different kebabs and they were absolutely not worth the money. Avoid Avoid Avoid.
Main Course was a Garlic flavored Paneer Sizzler with barbeque sauce and mashed potatoes. The sizzler is something that I ALWAYS have had when I go to OOTB and the mashed potatoes smelled kinda funny. Their BBQ gravy is absolutely delicious.
Also, friends called for a OOTB special Fondue and it smelled funny (not a big fan of fondue), A 4-cheese pasta with Chicken and Chicken Sausages which was absolutely EPIC. Also, a pasta based on pesto sauce was kinda dry and was not to my taste.
Easy 4.5 stars on 5 for food

Service:
To be honest, there were many a times when I was waiting for about 10 minutes for a glass of water. The stewards were running around trying to cope up with the crowd and they were obviously not enough of them. The courtesy that the steward offered about asking about the meals was something very uncommon in Mumbai (atleast in the places I go to)
3 stars on 5 for service

Ambience:
I love the decor of this place. The chairs are kinda uncomfortable and it can get quite warm and humid there, but you have to realize that this was the 'outdoor' seating we are talking about. There were a few tables 'indoors', but that just does not cut it. The outdoors are where you should try to get a seat.
3 stars on 5 for Ambience (lost major brownie points for the heat)

Pleasant experience

The ambience was very warm, friendly and radiated a certain class where one can expect to have a peaceful dinner. Which we did. There was a live singer, who kept the tone and the tempo lively, but not disturbing, and kept us entertained throughout. The food was good. The wine was even better. :) The food came on time, and the service was good. Though we had to remind the waiters about our dessert more than once. And it is large group friendly.

Disappointing experience for Group

I had been to Out of the Blue with a friend earlier and I had liked the experience, which is why I recommended it to my Group of 7 people..
This time we had a bad bad experience. Other than the hour of waiting, we got a seat on the first floor which has no ambience or feel at all...(Sat night with no live music)...
Service was too slow...we had to remind them of our missing starters...the starter portions were miniscule...And yes, everything was exorbitantly highly priced..
The taste of food was good, but that alone would not encourage me to go there again..

Always a pleasure

One of the nicest restaurants in Khar / Bandra.

There has never been a moment where I've not enjoyed myself at this Restaurant.

The variety of food, drinks, staff and ambiance is just excellent.

Must try the desserts from Delicasie (cant figure out the spelling right now) - Mars Attack and their season favourites are yummy!

I have been going to this place for years now. Celebrated many special occassions here like birthdays, anniversary, re-unions and every time it has been truly wonderful. The food is great, the ambience is exciting, especially on Sundays (makes you feel like you're in Goa), the staff is friendly & courteous so be assured you will have a good time!

Fabulous salads n fondues; service needs attn.

I have been a patron of this restaurant for the last 3 or 4 years but nothing iv tasted until now as compelled me to write a review about it. The ceasar salad here is gorgeous, its very simple with lots of lettuce and baby tomatoes but the dressing totally steals the show. the salad is drizzled in blue cheese dressing with a generous helping of parmesan. I cannot get enough! Howeve i add ham and bacon and mushrooms to make it even better and more filling. Another fanastic dish i recommend is the saffron prawn risotto- A real beauty. My mouth waters just writing about it. The four cheese fondue also is bloody brilliant. Ok now for a downer..the service here is getting from babd to worse. the waiters get ur order wrong..keep u waiting for ages and dont take correction very well. Anyway id like to end on a positive note..the desserts r delectable..especially the choco-strawberry meringue which is in season at the moment.

Liked the Ambience and the Deliciae Desset Cafe as a Waiting Lounge.

Good vaue for money / poor service

Out of the Blue is a mistery for me. I visited 3 times & everytime I get the traditional cheese fondue (the French one with white wine :-)), what strikes me is that it never tastes the same... The first one was incredible, really like in Switzerland in a Chalet in a mountain. The second times, that was really bad... It really lacks of consistency. Having said that, the place is great, I love the kind of courtyard. If the service guys are often overwhelmed by the Sunday crowd (It took me 20 minutes to get a bottle of water), the overall experience is quite acceptable especially for the price paid. Net, I prefer to hang around Out of the Blue on Sunday than being on Olive :-)))

Please try harder on the food & the service guys! Your place is stunning so please just do it!!!

Disappointed

Me and my boyfriend came here on Monday afternoon for a nice cozy date. The staff was courteous and efficient. We ordered bacon cheese soup. I found it to be ok, but boyfriend hated it, he didn't even touch it..felt it was too milky. Then we had some pasta (i dont remember the name, it was cream based and had bits of chicken and ham) I found it to be quite nice. For dessert we ordered blueberry cheesecake which turned out to be disappointing. it wasn't light and fluffy, and the scoop of vanilla ice cream along with it didn't do much. Damages for two is 1000 rupees which is too much for such a mediocre meal. Next day, boyfriend is fine but i have INDIGESTION! And i am a person who eats street food all the time and NEVER falls ill. I am very upset that i took the pains to travel this far to have such a pathetic meal which has made me sick. I'm obviously never coming back again and i'm going to advise my friends to do the same.

A screwed up Romantic Date

Had been to this place on 28th November on occasion of my anniversary with my partner, must say was frustrated at first because the manager at the reservation counter dint accept my reservation for corner table 3 hours before my date also, saying it was reserved, and whereas wen i went der at 7.30, damn early for any dinner date and in front of me they gave that table to other people, Leaving it the food was awsum , we ordered for garlic bread , penne pasta and the shaslik sizzler , sizzler in Mexican sauce stole the show and all my anger of that that, food was such impressing , but one more thing that the table that they gave me was very shake to sit comfortably, so i would like them to take care the next time and have an elaborate procedure for reservations without any special conditions for their "special customers"

i just love this place!!

i have gone there for second time. the food is excellent and atmosphere is simply superb. Last time when i went the music was louder but it seems good now. We went for dinner..started with soup, minestrone simple awesome..with cheese garlic bread, trust me you would never taste better garlic bread than this. I ordered my all time favorite drink virgin pincaolada, trust me as i have tried this in loads of places, it was the best. chicken in lemon sauce was definitely different and tasty. As for the sizzler, i tried stuffed mushroom in bbq sauce and it was OK. but the other thing compensate this.

go for it, u will love it..its a bit expensive but its worth it. the place is peaceful :)

Out of the world - Spa lunch

Last Friday, a colleague and me wanted to go to Bandra to try out something new. Now I've been to Out of the Blue several times before. In fact, it's been a family favorite for several months now. But I've never been here for lunch. So we gave it a shot.

As usual, we got promptly seated. The place is huge. You realize it even further when the place is not that packed with people, which is usually the case in the evenings. They were serving Spa lunch. Not sure what it was, we probed around. For the price of Rs. 375 + taxes, you get a Foot Spa done + a buffet lunch.

The buffet options were good. The veg options for starters were Pita bread and hummus, fruit salad, veggie salad, Veg Broth soup with Garlic. For the main course I had a Veg Shashlik sizzler. Now, I'm not a great fan of sizzlers, so I wasn't that enthusiastic wtih it. The dessert options were cool too - Banana Cake, Strawberry cake, Chocolate Gateaux and Apple Tart.

We didn't try the foot massage as we had to rush back to the office.

Overall a very positive experience. I wish I didn't have to go back to work after the lunch, because both of us were quite stuffed and sleepy.

OUT OF GOOD FOOD

Just went to this place for dinner, ordered garlic bread,Guess what?i bet the one you make at home,is a trillion times better....A loaf of bread, with a bit of olive oil,(NOT WARM,FORGET HOT)....mixed with a bunch of herbs, but overall,BLUNT,TASTELESS...added some olive oil, paprika and oregano, making it worse:(...The food was bought too quick to the table,,,signs of not being freshly prepared for me..
Sick of the garlic bread,we ordered a sizzler...LARGE....the portion was pretty small for a LARGE....lacked veggies(which is pretty normal in sizzlers across restaurants in the city and elsewhere)....The sizzler too (the main part),was cold...the other rice, fries were *sizzling*...
OVERALL:NOT RECOMMENDED...though the AMBIENCE IS GOOD.

Out of the blue has been my very favourite choice but my last visit has left a sour taste. The food is exceptionally good, great cocktails but what about the staff's attitude?
Arrogant and rude statements...is what i got when i asked the lady to reserve a table for four in the outdoor space!
The entire evening got dampened with that, we went on to Basallico.
ambience is not just with outdoor, candle light set up but staff too!

One of the best place to dine out in Suburb...Yesterday been here, definately deserve 5*, reason for giving 4* is because of non stop loud noise which were being created by some of the cheap youngesters..Management shud take care of this, so that somebody's fun shudn't be pain for other customers.

Thank you Roshan for your feedback.
I am aware of this problem. Its not endemic, yet.And perhaps the right way is ask the loud party to quieten down. perhaps this is the way is done abroad. however, here, in our country sometime things get unpleasant for the staff, guests and surrounding guests.
My suggestions is ,if your are at the restaurant ask the manager to speak to the guest. Alternatively, ask for a better table.
Your thoughts!!

A delightful experience..

Having heard about this place from some Mumbai lovers, I finally decided to visit Out of the Blue. A cosy place off Carter Road, it is usually crowded on weekends. Being a Saturday night, I had to wait for 30 minutes before I was shown to my table.

The dimly lit wooden interiors with soft country music in the background bring a comfortable ambiance to the place. It is moderately expensive place with a warm decor and a friendly service.

Out of the Blue boasts of a vast continental menu of salads, soups, fondues, sandwiches, pastas, pizzas, barbeques, sizzlers, risotto; added with a great variety of drinks and desserts. I ordered a White Sangria: the menu said it is white wine, some liqueur with fresh fruits. I was hoping for some exotic fruits like kiwi in it, but to my disappointment it only had apples. I thought the name was slightly misleading but the fruity flavoured wine punch, left nothing for me to complain about.

They have some wonderful fondues on their menu: I tried the Out Of The Blue Crack Pepper Fondue. I am unsure if fondues are supposed to be appetizers or the main course, but the quantity of food even in a small fondue here is good to serve 4. We followed the fondue with a Penne In Creole Sauce which was well made with all the herbs giving out their distinct flavours in just the right amount.

Remember to keep at least half of your stomach empty for some heavenly desserts here. We were moved to the dessert section on the outside and there again we were greeted with a grand menu for the desserts. We ordered a Blueberry Cheesecake and a Death By Chocolate. And as the name suggests, the chocolate overload brought the meal a sweet end..

All and all the experience was truly Out of the Blue...

Rating: 3.5/5: A place to have a good time

I have been to this place a couple of times and have always a had a good time. The place is not your usual Pizza and Pasta place. Going by the reviews (and the press), it is an upscale restaurant with beautiful interiors and ambiance.

The food menu is extensive. More than pasta's and pizza's I prefer the sizzler's. They are simple superb and cooked to perfection with lot of add-ons for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. But I would recommend that you do not leave the place without trying any of their desserts. They are out of this world.

Overall a 'good' place and visit once with friends to have a good time.

My favorite Mumbai restaurant

OOTB is, without a doubt, my favourite restaurant in Mumbai. I have been here at least 5-6 times and each time, I felt that they were courteous and prompt with their service. Except one occasion when we landed up without a reservation, they took some time to accommodate us. But since it was a Saturday night, I can understand, this being a busy restaurant. However, it is preferable to make a reservation in advance.
The food menu is extensive and the pastas & sizzlers are cooked to perfection! They also serve the best Ceasar Salad in town! The outside seating is far more comfortable, since it may get noisy in the AC section.
For some strange reason deserts are far cheaper when you buy them directly from the deli outside, than when you order from the Menu. Maybe the management can correct that discrepancy.
But overall, excellent place and a great dining experience always!

Lovely ambience, good food, a descent place that delivers. Nothing "Out of the Ordinary" but truly "Out of the Blue".
More than your usual pizza and pasta pit-stop, this tried and true full service restaurant and bar has a tongue-bending selection to satisfy even discriminating palates.
Things they can improvise on - It would be great if the staff can have some suggestions, it helps since the menu is quite elaborate.
We happened to order a pasta with extra veggies, though that was not taken care of initially, they did get a prompt replacement.
The icing on the cake is the cafe outside which has the most amazing desserts - I wish the princing would have been considerate :)
If you are with family, trying to impress a client, or simply want to pamper your belly, then this is the place.
Lastly, I am amazed by the way their reviews are taken care of!

OUT OF THE QUESTION!!!

well i had heard a lot about this place so we planned to try it out on saturday. we went in at 8pm on a Saturday eve and since we didnt have any prior reservation we were asked to wait for 45 mins. considering it was saturday eve we thougth fair enough. while waiting we saw that 70% of this restaurant was EMPTY and when asked they said the tables were reserved... i have never come across a restaurant which reserves the tables 1 hour prior to the time. we still waited and finall at 9.15 pm after following up 5 times we got a table. to our surprise the section we got had approx 10 tables which were all EMPTY..... since we were waiting outisde we could guess how many people went out...

what a CRAP just to have a crowd at your restaurant waiting at the door they actually made the customers wait for NO REASON... its CRAPP

well after sitting at the table we waited for someone for 20 mins to take our order....... finally some one thinks of taking the order..... we ordered for one garlic bread...one 4 cheese pasta and this was so difficult for him to remember that he asked us 4 times what was the order. my friend ordered for ONE fresh lime soda which was given to her 3 times .... as they kept forgetting... after this experience we had given up that we wont place any further order here and rather go to some other place.
we made sure that all the feedback cards had a proper feedback given on being the worst service ever which i have come across.. hence we prefer to rename it was OUT OF THE QUESTION.....

Good place in Bandra

Well, I had heard some good stuff about this place. So, when my friends had come over to Mumbai for lunch, we decided on this place. Found it a little difficult to find the restaurant since all of us had been away from this part of Mumbai for a good four years.

The ambiance was pretty good and a warm welcome was given to us, especially since they took our umbrellas without any hitch and gave us our table immediately. Also, it wasnt very noisy and a live performance of some of our favourite songs was happening.

We were very hungry and directly jumped into main course. I ordered a sizzler of my own choice (veg. - I am a pure vegetarian) and the choice available seemed good. The food took around 25 - 35 mins to arrive. My other friends ordered a pasta each.

The food was very good but the quantity seemed to be very less and we were in no mood to wait for our second dish to arrive. We had our meal and ordered a couple of sizzling brownies (which we were all accustomed to thanks to our numerous CCD visits).

Overall, the food was very good but the quantity needs to improve. Also, a more exquisite dessert menu is much-needed. A bill of 650 each arrived and we paid it. An afternoon well spent.

Got me "out of the blue"!!!

When you're happy and you know it

clap you hands, (clap clap clap)

when you're happy and you know it

go to "out of the blue" (hehehehe)

corny right?? does not matter. The effect that this place has on me sums up in the lines above. I go feeling happy and come back feeling happier with the silliest grin on my face. And even if I dont go feeling happy, the place surely does get me "out of the blues"

I've been an ardent fan of this place for 4 years. Newly married in Mumbai, I was scouting for a nice candle-light dinner place and that's when someone suggested this place. I was so thrilled with the whole experience that I've gone back time and again & never stopped recommending this place to friends and family.

I've celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, promotions and what not and have come back pleased each time. The ambiance is soothing and hep at the same time. The food is amazing. They have the most amazing fondues and pastas.

I remember celebrating Christmas eve there with Santa and a tipsy head. Some Christmas that was. The cocktails were superb.

My husband who is a true blood Indian food lover actually enjoys Italian at this place and does not even say "where is the mirchi"??? hahahaha..

Looking forward to celebrate my 4th anniversary this year at "out of the blue" and hope to continue to do so each year.

Going thru carters wen it rains and take a right, go sum further and voilaaaa u at OOB.

Took the non ac section since we wer completely drenched in the rains. They gave us three menus, i thought all of them wud b the same. But to my surprise all of them wer different. One for food, one for wine, one for booze. Thsi was d first time i had seen sumthn like dis. Jus freaked out looking at the variety they have out here. It was jus crazy.

To start with ordered two beers and 2 vodkas for all of us. The service is quick, since it was nt dat crowded??? Neways got our ordered booze pretty early. Mind u the beer bottles are chilled but its nt dat chilled wen u drink it. Same goes for the cold drinks also. Hope they improve on this.

For the main course, ordered two sizzlers and one BBQ. Boy o boy till date in my life i have neva had suck freaking awesome sizzlers. Jus loved them. They wer mind blowing. In quantity and in taste freaking awesome. Jus cant get over the taste. Loved the BBQ also. Even it was equally good. But sizzlers are jus awesome.

Super ambience, Super food

Having heard a lot about this place , we decided to go from town to check it out and I must say I was happy we did.

They have indoor and outdoor seating. We chose the outdoor one since that has a lovely ambience and liveliness to it. Outdoor is not AC but they periodically switch on the "mist" fans which makes it nice and cool.

Unlike many reviews here complaining about the service, I thought the service was very good - polite and quick.

Now the food .....all vegetarian food since we are veg......

Virgin Caprioshkas - Nice but could do with some more lemons and more mint

Starters -

Bruschettas - Excellent
paneer with chutney and jalapeno - Excellent !

Main course -

Smoked paneer barbecue - Excellent though I would like some more paneer in it instead of so many veggies and less paneer.

Hot pot veggie sizzler - Very good.

Dessert -

Tiramisu - The one negative spot in the entire evening .....The tiramisu looked great , unlike most you see in other places but the cream had gone sour.....so we had to return it.....and expected some kind of complementary thing in return but nothing of that sort happened.

Also, had mentioned during the booking that it was a birthday celebration , no cake or anything was offered - not complaining about it but just mentioning it since read another reviewer here mentioning they got something.

All in all, a superb place to visit.....great atmosphere, food and service and I am surely going again.

Gold pot across the rainbow

I chose this title because like the Irish myth, there is a gold pot at the end of a rainbow. Similarly, OOTB is like a gold pot at the end of all the flashy joints at Carter's. We visited this place two weeks back for one of my friends marriage celebration. We decided to surprise the couple by making all the arrangements. This place turned out to be the most amazing thing we townies ever experienced in Bandra.
The ambiance is too good, the service very good and the food was really really good. Also, when the manager learnt that it's our friends marriage treat, she complimented us with a chocolate cake ;) We ordered a few veg and non-veg starters. Then risottos, pastas and sizzlers. All just went down well and we didn't even realize when the plates were empty. The service is commendable coz the guy who served us knew what we needed accordingly. It was a fabulous night. We'll be back for sure.

Brilliant.

My first time here was just fantastic.
I had booked the table at the low seating at about 8.30 as they do not take reservations between 9 to 11 or sumthing like that but i can understand when u have ppl queing up do dont have any other option. Due to the rains n snarling mumbai traffic i reached about 20 mins after my reservation time n i was sure i lost my table but to my surprise the lovely hostess guided me to the table i had selected and was very kind and courteous. Sorry i forgot her name. The spray fans were brilliant and added this misty fragrance to the place. The service was below par as i had to runup and get myself waiter but they were apologetic. I would like you to increase the number of waiters if possible as that was the only glitch in my experience. The food was fantastic. The ambiance was great. N the desserts were really yum. All in all an almost flawless experience.

I would like to take the time to tell Mr Sartaj Bedi that hes a doing a fantastic job handling the suggestion n complaints on burrp. You have been very professional and i really admire the professionalism in which handling complaints. Its a difficult job no doubt. Thanks for the awesome time i had at OOTB. I wud have normally given given 4 starts for the quality of food n ambience while deducting one for the slow service. But the way in which the hostess showed me the entire restaurant before booking a table and her saving my table despite me being late deserves allocades. Thanks a lot guys u rock.

Good Ambience but mediocre everything else

I tried this restaurant after reading the reviews on this site and my first impression of this place was a very grand view and amazing ambience. They have a cute fish tank at the entrance and the look it quite amazing and very spacious. It gets full marks for ambience.

The menu was quite neat systematic and organised. However the food did not have much taste it was completely mediocre the sizzler and even the starter was the same. Cocktails and mocktails all tasted like banana milk shake. Capiroshka looked green and had a lot and lot of mint leaves. Even the neighbouring table did not like the cocktails. Really poor quality food.

The only thing worth was their iced which tasted good. So the next time I will go there only for their ambience and iced tea.

Too much success is a bad thing

I used to love this place when it was a 10/12 seater, they only served sizzlers and fondue then.

Now it seems they have expanded their menu but the quality of food is disastrous, plus the prices are too high as well now.

Sitting outside in the humidity with spray fans was another nightmare.

just love it!

Out of the Blue has never dissappointed! Everytime we plan on trying a new restaurant in the area, the idea is dropped, and we head to OOTB! The food is sooo good and the ambience so comforting (courtyard area)..
(Wish they could turn down the noise volume a bit though)
Ordered bruschettas which were the best bruschettas i have eaten in bombay! the perfect flavour on a thick crusty bread.

Penne in pesto sauce( whole wheat penne)- The pesto sauce was excellent but the pasta was a little over cooked. would have preferred it more al dente.

The bakery in the outer section is highly over rated though! Very very ordinary stuff read cakes). All looks and no substance. Prefer the pastries at Moshe's or Bascillico.)

Fantastic Food. Fantastic Ambiance

This is the place if you are looking out for a perfect relaxing ambiance with your friends, family or partners. Out of the blue is really out of the world. The desi fondue was amazing and as i went for the first time to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday it was a perfect location with soft music and light ambiance. The server was very friendly and he suggested some fondues and helped us in selecting the wine too. The wine was good although i dont remember the name it was australian white wine. And the taste of the fondue was really exotic, never tasted anything like this before. And also it has many varities as far as vegetarian is considered. I was impressed by the cocktail menu and the wine menu. This place is worth visiting as many times as you wish.

Out of their MINDS!

OOB joins the ranks of 'has been' restaurants - good places which screw up coz they get complacent! Went there this weekend to celebrate my boyfriends bday and wat a terrible, terrible decision! The service absolutely SUCKED! Think of the two dumbest, most idiotic people u know and well they've been hired at OOB! These waiters, who we nicknamed Paplu/Taplu (thou in retrospect it was an insult to the term P/T) wearing shower caps (I kid u not!!!) started by serving us the wrong brand of sparkling water, mixing it with regular water, moved to forgetting the prawns in the non veg platter and bringing the main course an hour late! Oh and to make up for forgetting the prawns, they gave us 2 pcs separately.. 2 pcs how cheap can u get?! N they did all this with a stupid grin plastered over their faces.. Oh we also complained to the manager - who in contrast did not crack a smile nor bother apologizing.. By the time we cut the cake we were all pretty much in a foul mood:( Phew! Never ever going back to that demented place.. Luckily for us, there are way too many options in Bandra for us to ever visit out of the boo!

Anytime with Anyone

Its a perfect place to go on a date, with friends or celebrating a friends impending nuptials. There 2 sections the AC one and alfresco which is dimly lit and sets the perfect tone. They have a lot of entertainment as well depending on the day and time like a live music and a ladies special replete with tarot etc on Wednesday lunch.

Food: Ordered the pasta in pesto, risotto in cream sauce with porcini mushroom and the Out of the Blue special fondue. The pesto sauce was perfect, dry as like it with just a touch of cream. One of the best Ive eaten. The risotto was nice and perfectly moist. While Id have preferred the regular fondue but it wasn't bad. Its pretty pungent and doesn't appeal to all palates. If you've never had an authentic fondue before you maybe better off skipping this.

Damages: We paid about Rs 400 per head which is pretty good.

Its a great place to go anytime for any occasion. The food is always great and so the ambiance. Definitely keeps you coming back again and again.

Perfect for a dinner date

Went to Out of the Blue with wifey for a dinner date last night. When we had called them at 9 pm for a reservation, they said they can accommodate us only at 10.30. We didn't make the reservation, but decided to go there anyways. When we reached there at 9.30, we were seated in less than 10 mins.

The music set the mood right for the date. For the appetizers we went with the stuffed mushrooms and the Arguala salad with bitter rocket leaves. I had a glass of Soledoro Sangiovese Rubicone. The wine was dry and went well with the mushrooms as well as the Tomato Basil Pasta that we ordered later.

Their quantities are okay, but we were stuffed full by the time we finished our dinner. There was no room for any dessert.

The service was a bit slow, but who's complaining. I've been to this place and love the ambiance.

My only complaint is the lack of variety for those who want to go with wine by the glass.

A perfect place to take your date out for dinner.

The "Perfect Date" Place

Well, the title only holds true if you get a table inside and there is no loud music.. Other than that, this place has great food and defi great ambience..

A lil overpriced.... but no regrets!!

One suggestion though.. why dont u make the whole place air conditioned?? You would have gotten a five star from me...

AWESUMMMMM

This is one place that wont go out of memory.. Facility for indoor and outdoor seating.. where the indoor seating is nice and cosy, the outdoor seating gives a whole new meaning to "being lost in your own world" ... My husband took me to this place on our anniversary.. and the ambiance of this place only added to the special moment..

The food obviously is out of the world.. A must try is the fondue they have and also the ohh so yummy prawns.. nice range of variety on food.. Cant wait to be back..

loved it

great ambience. great food. great times.
opt for the outdoor seating. the fondue section is great. dont miss the sizzlers. the barbaque sauce served with the sizzlers is beyond good. the staff is really attentive and will cater to all your needs. we loved the barbaque sauce so much that we requested the staff if they could get us a little more. and they did. really impressed.
the chocolate fondue is too good. you'll surely crave for more.
the place is totally worth one visit, if not more.
