Horrible Restaurant Manager - Henry

Hello All,
I have been a regular customer of Pop Tates since past 3 years.
But had a very bad experience last month when i went with my friend for dinner.

We went at 11.30 pm and asked for a table of 5 people and the manager Henry suggested us to sit on the table which was near the gate.
As we had 2 girls accompanying us, i requested them to change the table in the corner as it was very noisy because of the group sitting on the nearby table.

Henry the manager said "no this is our closing time and we cannot allow you to sit and occupy any other table.
If you want you can have on this table or else you can cancel the order."

After this we decided to sit on the same table as we were hungry and had no other option to sit there.

The Manager - Henry went on the counter and placed the order and said "Jaa Order de de, inn logon ke faltu ke natak he." (Go deliver the order, this people have lot of tantrums).

Hearing this conversation we were shocked but as we had female accompanying us, we kept quite.

The manager Henry came along with the order in a platter as the waiters were counting the cash and bills.
He just banged the platter on our table and left.
Upon this i told him "Excuse me you cannot bang the plate on our table we are not beggers, we are your customers"

Upon this he replied saying that “Khana he toh khao, yaa toh nikal jao. Faltu me dimag khaane aa jate he. Hamare yah ape aise hi service milegi.” (If you want you eat or get lost. Don’t eat my brains. We offer only this kind of service.)

We were really stunned by this behaviour and act of a manager.
There is a height of arrogance and I am really shocked how such uncivilized, illiterate managers are kept by such a big brand. I would strongly recommend you not to go to Pop Tates Sakinaka.

Good food, Excellent pricing

Place is meant for going with big groups of friends. Excellent food and pricing and spacious enough to accommodate large groups. Sizzlers are also really good. The chicken Shahliks and the chicken steaks are really good. Drinks are also moderately priced and their happy hours rock. It's only the painful Saki Naka junction next to it that makes it painful to reach.

love the sizzlers

My papa loves this restaurant. From serving alcohol to sizzlers poptates never fails to impress. Who doesn't enjoy a good meal. I love the sizzlers, the chicken sausages one is my favourite. I've only started to eat sizzlers because of my first good experience at poptates. I've been here twice once with family and once with friends and to my sheer surprise both the times I've got a complimentary dessert.

Great place & worth the money

Went there on Christmas eve with bunch of friends and the place was buzzing. Nice atmosphere and kool lighting ! We had to wait good 30-40 mins but at the end we got a table. Staff was co-operative and did their best to get us sited asap.

We were there mostly for drinks and tried few snacks. The cheeze balls were the best. I mean one of the best I had ever. one of my friends ordered a pizza which was not gr8 , I think that's not a place at all to have a pizza.

Great place to hangout after office hours! Will visit more and write about the food as well.

Cool ambiance,good food

One of those places you go to chill with your friends, very peppy ambiance which takes over your mind,in a good way! Food wise everything seems good. I have tasted pasta and sizzler (veg) and felt it was value for money. I am sure if I go back I will taste more things from the menu, and definitely a place I would recommend my friends to go to if they wanna chill in a peppy place in the evenings!

Not the best ones around

Have been to Pop tate's saki naka twice and ordered food home once and let me state that it is very ordinary. The problem with Pop Tates is the spread which is too huge. When you are trying to serve European, american comfort food, Mexican, Italian and Indian all in one menu then either you need an army of chefs or you are going to average out and that is exactly what happens in pop tate's. I ordered the Pesto spaghetti. Now pesto is the easiest sauce to make in italian cuisine as it does not require any cream or flour and does not need any cooking. You need to take your basil, add pine nuts and olive oil and sprinkle with parmesan and you are done. However what i got was a creamy pale green mush . Now that tells me that they have a white sauce which is used as a base for everything . Without adding equal proportion of herbs the "averaged" out sauce is bland at best and absolutely non authentic.

The most decent dish i had on the menu was mashed potatoes which are pretty difficult to get wrong actually. The lemonade is also forgettable as with soda or without it , it lacks the punch altogether...

If you have waited for 20 mins at the saki naka signal i suggest you take the route towards powai and not towards pop tates .....

Fun Place with friends

Well the restaurant is the only thing good in that building. The entrance is dingy but the restaurant is done well. Good service. We enjoyed the happy hour. All the food was tasty and good. Good music, and good amount of fun we had the servers. They kept saying this item may take some time and if we disagreed they would bring it fast enough,

Nothing Great

I have been to 2 of its branches (Vikhroli & Mulund) and experienced different kinds of services and food standards in both. So this is the 3rd outlet I visited of this chain restaurant. Visited on a Monday, was happy to see it brimming with people even at 8 pm. We got the corner table, normally for group of 6-8 people, but we were just 4. The atmosphere was pretty likeable, however would have preferred if volume of the songs would have been kept a little less, so that you can talk to people. We ordered some drinks, one starter, salad and main course. Here goes the rating of each: 1. Iced Tea- The most basic beverage gone wrong! It is suppose to be 'Iced' tea, not warm tea. Filled with ice, still it was lukewarm, let alone chilled. 2. Chocolate milkshake- Taste was good, but again, not cold, it was room temperature. 3. Screwdriver- 200 bucks for this much? I thought they were kidding. Hardly anything. To little vodka. I think I paid 200 bucks for orange juice! 4. Nachos with spicy beans sauce and cheese sauce- Even after telling the waiter to make it less spicy, it got us drinking water after every 2-3 bites. Had it been less spicy, as I had ordered, it would have been better. 5. Russian Salad- After declining every salad mentioned in their menu as not available, they said they had only 2 types of salad- a chicken salad and this one. This is basically carrots, tomatoes and peas mixed in mayonnaise. Pretty ordinary. Nothing great. 6. Pasta of the day- This was a combination of red and white sauce pasta with bell peppers with garlic bread. This one was the good things that we had and enjoyed. 7. Spicy bbq paneer pizza- 12'inch was good size, though this one was not spicy! Though good in taste. For all this we churned out close to 1600 bucks. Not worth it.

A good hangout place

]: If you are ever looking for a place where you want to lose yourself completely and have fun, the place is Pop Tate's. The ambiance is so fascinating that you feel you have come to a totally different place. Even though the arrangements are a little congested, it doesn’t matter after a couple of drinks. The place is packed with groups of friends just chilling out, laughing, screaming and chanting the lyrics to the loud played songs. The service is really fast. The food is good; however the quantity of the food served is quite less. The rates are the same as compared to any such fancy restaurants. A must try is the barbeque chicken pizza. Overall, it’s a well maintained place, for its fast moving crowd.

A good place to visit

With not many places for a late night food outing..pop tates is a good place to rest your hunger pangs... unfortunately because it was a national holiday on my visit to this ever crowding place... there was no Chinese on the menu...anyhow the food we ordered was delicious..served warm and service was fast enough ...the best bit of the night was that though we ordered a few drinks and a two course meal ..the server suddenly surprises us with a caramel custard on the house ....a good place to visit :)

Really cool place to be

The ambiance is awesome and moreover the attendants are really nice and polite, This fellow named Lucky serves us and he is the the best of the lot, the Spanish potato is best for veggies also the Pasta here, happy hours are also great, but sometimes its hilarious rule like last order only one drink gets on your nerve, but after arguing with the manager i am sure you get that too your way.

Rocking but Smoky!

Very nice place to hangout. Nice ambiance but little bit more smoky. Much better place to hang out with friends or with group. Not that gr8 for family. Very nice interior. And very innovative.

Service and food is good. Drinks are also rocking. The 1st this to order is "Garlic Bread". I had never had such soft Garlic Breads in my entire life. Salad is average. Pizza are cool.

Little bit expensive in few items.

Try this once!

Place for multi-cuisine restaurant

This was recommended to me as a nice place for multi-cuisine grub but was a let down. They have peri-peri veg dish which is nowhere close to the original peri-peri sauce in taste. Not a place for foodies to experiment with offerings from the menu. If you have tried and tasted n liked something best to stick to that. They have good mughlai food and desserts. Overall a nice place to go if you have somebody who knows this place and what to order here.

Good value for money as usual

Pop Tates has built a reputation for serving food and drinks in a great ambience for just the right price.

This place serves the best chicken wings. I am a big buffalo wings fan and this location has the best taste.

The service is very good considering how busy the place gets and the ambience is quite wacky.

excellent western food

Ventured over here for lunch the other day as I was slowly getting sick of Subway. Turns out Pop Tate's is not so much a wannabe western diner - it IS a western diner! We went during a not-so-busy time of day (around noon), and ordered a Penne Arrabiata and an Omelette, which came complete with french fries, garlic bread, and some flash boiled vegetables. I stayed away from the fried stuff, but everything else was delicious. Other things on their menu range from sizzlers, to hamburgers, to sandwiches to pizza.

From the look of the ambiance, the restaurant tries to give a very western feel, using a lot of red and blue throughout. The atmosphere generally screams "fun", but there are some random oddities, such as Pokemon-like animation on the walls. Music is enjoyable, mostly blaring American classic rock, pop and 80s.

I also noticed an ad card on the table with respect to their happy hour, which I believe they call Smiley Hour. Not sure if they have hard, but they definitely have beer.

All in all, a great addition to the busy Saki Naka area. As soon as this city learns how to fix a , this will be a decent area to head to for lunches and happy hours.
